Guest Grabs CL 2125 Rookie Honors

Last spring Eddie Guest was happy to just make the Banana Sluggers roster. He was overjoyed to see the name "Guest" on the lineup card, too. Now the 26-year-old Havana shortstop has capped off his debut season by winning the coveted Continental League Kien-lung Teng Award.

Guest won the award by hitting .283 and collecting 193 hits, no home runs, 65 RBIs and 21 walks, along with 88 runs scored and a .306 on-base percentage.


Ramírez Is RL's #1 Rookie

This year's outstanding newcomer has been selected and the honor goes to the Chicago rookie António Ramírez -- the recipient of the 2125 Republic League Kien-lung Teng Award.

The talented Hitmen second baseman took the trophy by hitting .272 in 156 games this season and finished with 165 hits, 21 home runs, 66 RBIs and 103 runs scored.

Havana Ace Takes Mauro Morales Award

The Mauro Morales Award for 2125 has been presented and the Continental League winner is Luis Aragón of Havana.

"It's always nice to receive an award like this," said Aragón. "I just hope I can improve on my performance next year and be in the running again," the Banana Sluggers star told reporters.

Aragón excelled with an impressive 19-6 record in 33 starts. In 209 innings he yielded 190 hits and 39 walks, while striking out 204 and compiling a fine 3.14 ERA.


RL Presents Outstanding Pitcher Award

The Waikiki Beach Boys have a rising superstar or maybe even a budding Hall-of-Famer in the making.
It's Kenneth Adams, this year's Republic League Mauro Morales Award selection. This blossoming hurler wowed fans, peers and sportswriters with a fabulous performance.

Adams compiled a 17-5 record in 27 starts, tallied 172 strikeouts in 191 innings and recorded a 2.83 ERA. Other clubs managed only a .236 batting average against him.

Continental League Top Batsman Is Yánez

Jesús Yánez has been around FOOL-X enough to know a good hot streak when he sees one -- and he got to see one firsthand all year. For his standout run through the 2125 season, he's taking home the Bartolo Liriano Award in the Continental League.

The Washington first baseman put up a batting average of .355 with 42 doubles, 3 triples, 51 home runs and 131 RBIs.


Yap Nabs RL Bartolo Liriano Award

What a way to finish off the year -- being honored with the 2125 Bartolo Liriano Award in the Republic League. It had already been a very special season for Ann Arbor's Mi-yuan Yap, but today's announcement really put the icing on his cake.

All season long Mi-yuan Yap gave opposing pitchers fits by hitting .317 as he collected 190 hits, 37 doubles, 3 triples, 15 home runs and 84 RBIs.
