Best Rookie Trophy Presented to King

All the games have been played, all the votes have been counted and the recipient of the prestigious Continental League Benny Myers Rookie of the Year Award is Ray King of the Cleveland Cyclones.

This talented first-year performer hit .313 and put up a .356 OBP. In 142 games this year, the third baseman collected 158 hits in 504 at-bats, 17 home runs, 59 RBIs and scored 94 times.


Republic League Names Top Rookie

He's the toast of the town in Toronto -- the brand-new 2186 Republic League Benny Myers Rookie of the Year Award winner -- left fielder Luis Gallegos.

In his debut season he compiled some good stats, hitting .276, batting in 63 runs and scoring 66 times, while playing in 146 games. The 26-year-old newcomer also had 30 doubles, 6 triples and 13 home runs.

Best CL Hurler Chosen

Sometimes fans are left scratching their heads when a reliever wins the Gabriel Prado Award. After all, it is the most important pitching honor in the Continental League and one of the highest accolades in baseball.

But a reliever? Well, that just doesn't happen very often.

But it did this year!

Juan García proved to be the exception as the Cleveland bullpen specialist crafted a 1.48 ERA and a 11-3 record in 97.1 innings over 82 games, posting 41 saves and 79 strikeouts on his way to outshining the league's best starters.


Montreal's Nava Nets RL Gabriel Prado Award

The Montreal Royals have a rising superstar or maybe even a budding Hall-of-Famer in the making.
It's Manny Nava, this year's Republic League Gabriel Prado Award selection. This blossoming hurler wowed fans, peers and sportswriters with a fabulous performance.

Nava compiled a 21-8 record in 31 starts, tallied 188 strikeouts in 238.2 innings and recorded a 2.26 ERA. Other clubs managed only a .211 batting average against him.

CL's Premier Hitter for 2186 Named

Today Noblesville's Jesús Martínez was named the Continental League Hideaki Tanaka Award winner for 2186. He pounded CL hurlers hard all season long, collecting 191 hits in 596 at-bats.

With a .320 batting average, 36 doubles, 7 triples, 39 home runs, 106 RBIs and 135 runs scored, he was the top votegetter.


Simon-Pier Archambault Named RL's Best Hitter

What a way to finish off the year -- being honored with the 2186 Hideaki Tanaka Award in the Republic League. It had already been a very special season for Colorado's Simon-Pier Archambault, but today's announcement really put the icing on his cake.

All season long Simon-Pier Archambault gave opposing pitchers fits by hitting .301 as he collected 183 hits, 34 doubles, 1 triple, 41 home runs and 139 RBIs.
