Midwest Football Clubs of America

The premise behind this dynasty is simple. Football never became Americas number 1 sport, having never caught on on the West Coast (seen as to barbaric), or East Coast (Baseball rules) Thus, it is considered a regional sport (much like Nascar was for a long time.) The league reachs from Montana to Texas, West to Colorado and as far East as Ohio.

Teams are the following:
Billings Mustangs
Peoria Lightening
Cincinati Bengals
Tulsa Barnstormers
Lubbock Rattlers
Biloxi Gamblers
Lincoln Cyclones
Denver Mountaineers
Kansas City Gunslingers
Kalamazoo Sockeyes
Omaha Thrashers
South Bend Yankees
Dallas Cowboys
Topeka Capitals
Iowa City Bangers
New Orleans Rebels
Chicago Bears
Columbia (Mo) Hawks
St. Louis Mudcats
Rockford Rockers
Toledo Blizzard
Lawrence Outlaws
Detroit Lions
Houston Oilers
Minnesota Vikings
Indianapolis Storm
Muncie Bombers
San Antonio Drillers
Cleveland Browns
Colorado Springs Whitewater
Oklahoma City Apaches
Shreveport Steamers

I will be taking control of the Kansas City Gunslingers.

Kansas City Gunslingers @ South Bend (IN) Yankees
We open on the road at South Bend. At the half we're up 20 to 10. Late in the 4th we're still up 27 to 20. They score a late touchdown to tie, with a 1:16 left we throw an INT on a 1st and 10. Needless to say, with 8 sec's left, they kick a game winning field goal. (Head coach will have some explaining to due after this loss.)

Kansas City Gunslingers 27 @ South Bend (IN) Yankees 30.

Tulsa Barnstormers @ Kansas City Gunslingers
What can I say, our offense becomes inept in this game. Tulsa has their way with us. We move the ball between the 20's but cannot close the deal in the redzone. For Tulsa, its just the opposite, they score 17 unanswered points to put the game away.

Tulsa Barnstormers 27 @ Kansas City Gunslingers 7

Kansas City Gunslinger @ Biloxi Gamblers
This game becomes a turnover fest for us. Our starting QB throws 3 INTs, but somehow we're only down 14-6 after 3 quarters. To bad the game isnt only 3 quarters long, as the flood gates open up on us in the 4th. 17 unanswered points puts the game away for the Gamblers.

Kansas City Gunslingers 6 @ Biloxi Gamblers 31

Topeka Capitals @ Kansas City Gunslingers
The offense shows up for this game, and we have a 14-3 lead at the half. Naturally this is to much for the defense, and they give up 17 3rd quarter pts to put us behind 20-14. However, we start the 4th quarter with a long scoring pass play, and regain the lead. Again to much pressure for the defense, and they give up a late touchdown. The offense never threatens again.

Topeka Capitals 27 @ Kansas City Gunslingers 21

The first quarter of the season is over, and we stand 0-4. Injuries are already taken their toll, as our starting Free Safety is done, with a career ending injury. I loss my starting RCB for 5 weeks, and we start to piece togather a secondary.

After a disastrous first quarter of a season, the team was eager to get on the right track. We travel down I-70, to St. Louie to meet the Mudcats in a interstate game.

Kansas City Gunslingers @ St. Louis Mudcats
A beautiful fall day for a football game. Our defense is doing well, however, the offense cant get the motor to fire up, and after one half, we're down, 14-7. We give up another TD in the middle of the 3rd and are down 21-7. The coach gives the defense and offense a pep talk, and it seems to work. We answer back with 3 pts in the 3rd, and an early TD in the 4th. Our defense clamps down, and St. Louis never scores again. Alas, our offense runs out of gas, and we lose another close one.

Kansas City Gunslingers 17 @ St. Louis Mudcats 21

Columbia (Mo.) Hawks @ Kansas City Gunslingers
Another interstate rival shows up, this time in our house. Its another tight game, with neither team able to do much in the first half. The Hawks draw first blood with a TD, but we answer right back with a TD of our own. After one half its tied up 7-7. We open up the second half by giving up a Field Goal to the Hawks and are down 3. Late in the 3rd, we answer back with a
long TD pass, and go up 14-10. Thats the last time we score, as the Hawks get a TD in the fourth to take the lead, and the game.

Columbia (Mo.) Hawks 17 @ Kansas City Gunslingers 14

Kansas City Gunslingers @ Shreveport Steamers
We head down to Cajun country in hopes to righting this ship. Currently 0-6, with injuries now piling up on both sides of the ball. After 1 quarter, the Steamers have a early 3-0 lead. The offense starts to wake up some, and by the half were up 10-3. Neither team does much in the 3rd quarter, and the game is still tight until we put up another TD late in the fourth, to ice the game. The Gunslingers have their 1st win of the year!

Kansas City Gunslingers 17 @ Shreveport Steamers 3

Week 8 sees us getting a much needed bye. We stand at 1-6 with injuries having now taking their toll on our secondary. Our back up TE is now out with a season ending injury, and minor injuries are cropping up on the O-Line. Things aren't looking so good for us at the midway point.

So, week 9 rolls up on us. The team has had time to digest their first win of the season. Coach has given them a few days to relax and a few players are healed up from their nagging injuries. Still, the secondary is a problem with injuries taking their toll.

The 3rd quarter is upon us, and we stand 1-6. Lets see what the next 5 weeks have in store for us, as we head to Kalamazoo to play the Sockeyes!

Kansas City Gunslingers @ Kalamazoo Sockeyes

The first quarter is a awesome display of offense scoring, as 21 pts are quickly put on the board. Just not by us. Down 21-0 after one quarter, we make a effort to close the gap, and by halftime were down 21-14. They open the 3rd quarter with a field goal. We answer with a TD and pull within 3. Thats as close as we get. A 4th quarter field goal extends their lead, and Kalamazoo gets the win.

Kansas City Gunslingers 21 @ Kalamazoo Sockeyes 27.

Detroit Lions @ Kansas City Gunslingers

Detroit comes in to pay us a friendly visit. I say friendly, because we offer them no resistance the entire game. By halftime were down 24-14. From there it only gets worse. Injuries are now taking their toll on the O-Line. No secondary and now no O-Line= no win.

Detroit Lions 37 @ Kansas City Gunslingers 21.

Kansas City Gunslingers @ Cincinnati Bengals

Injuries have now depleted our O-Line and our secondary. We put up a fight thou in Cincy, and at the half, we are up 13-10. Too bad the game wasnt stopped there. 28 unanswered points in the second half by Cincy is too much, and we suffer our 3rd straight lose, falling to 1-9.

Kansas City Gunslingers 13 @ Cincinnati Bengals 38

South Bend (In) Yankees @ Kansas City Gunslingers

South Bend comes rolling in on a hot streak, and we are reeling, having lost 3 straight. The first game of the year was decided by 3 pts at their house. Im hoping we can flip the table at our house. By the time the nacho cheese has warmed up, were down 28-0. We post up 10 pts in the second half, and they do the same.

South Bend (IN) Yankees 38 @ Kansas City Gunslingers 10

Cleveland Browns @ Kansas City Gunslingers
Cleveland is in town, and this time, we mean to take care of business. And thats what we do for the first half, going into the locker room down 14-10. Cleveland comes out of the locker room for the second half, we decide not to join them on the field and send out the JV team, letting Cleveland score at will.

Cleveland Browns 37 @ Kansas City Gunslingers 13

The 3rd quarter of the season was very kind to us, granting us 5 straigt losses, and numerous injuries on our O-line, to join the injuries in our secondary. We cant stop the pass, and we cant run or pass protect. We are currently tied for worse record in the league at 1-11. Lets see if this team can man up and win a few more in the last weeks of the regular season.

Kansas City Gunslingers @ Tulsa Barnstormers
The charter flight lands in Tulsa, as does our luggage. However, it would appear that most of the team remained back on the runway in Kansas City. By halftime were down 24-3. We do manage to find the endzone once in the second half. They, however, find the endzone a few more times in the second half also.

Kansas City Gunslingers 10 @ Tulsa Barnstormers 41

Kansas City Gunslingers @ New Orleans Rebels
We head to New Orleans to take on the Rebels. Evidently the Captian of the Charter flight took my joking about not returning to KC to pick up the rest of the team to heart. Once again, by halftime were down 20-7. We do score early in the 3rd quarter to make it 20-14. However, that's our last hurrah, New Orleans adds a field goal and a safety in the 4th quarter, clinching the win.

Kansas City Gunslingers 14 @ New Orleans Saints 25

Billings (MT) Mustangs @ Kansas City Gunslingers
Billings comes in sporting a 6-8 record and a slim playoff chance. I figure we have a chance to take this one, as most of the team is well rested after not joining the rest of us on the recent road trips to New Orleans and Tulsa. I'm nicely surprised as we go into the half tied 10-10. More surprises ensue, as we hit a deep TD pass late in the 3rd to go up by 7. A field goal with less then a minute left in the game ices it for us.

Billings (MT) Mustangs 10 @ Kansas City Gunslingers 20

St. Louis Mudcats @ Kansas City Gunslingers

Our I-70 rivals drive up from St. Louie for the final game of the season. I give our team a pep talk and tell them that they can go out on a 2 game winning streak. They take the talk to heart and were up 24-14 at the half. We keep our foot on their neck, and as the final gun sounds on our season, we take our 2nd straight victory, 34-17.

St. Louis Mudcats 17 @ Kansas City Gunslingers 34.

The playoffs break down as follows:
Biloxi (MS) Gamblers (10-6) (-1) @ Denver Mountaineers (11-5)
Columbia (Mo) Hawks (10-6) (-2) @ Detroit Lions (9-7)
Kalamazoo Sockeyes (10-6) (-2) @ New Orleans Rebels (10-6)
Lubbock (Tx) Rattlers (13-3) (-4) @ Topeka (Ks) Capitals (10-6)

Ironically for Lubbock, at 13-3, they had the second best record in their division behind Peoria's 14-2.

In the first round of the playoffs there were some very exciting and tight games.

Biloxi (Ms) Gamblers 17 @ Denver Mountaineers 31
Biloxi never put up a fight in this game, once Denver took the lead, they never looked back.

Columbia (Mo) Hawks 13 @ Detroit Lions 10
This would prove to be one of the close and exciting first round matchups. With 10 seconds left in the game, the Hawks kicker nails a 32 yarder to win it.

Kalamazoo Sockeyes 24 @ New Orleans Rebels 31
Kalamazoo was down 31-10 after 3 quarters. A late flurry in the 4th made it respectable, but, Kalamazoo came up short.

Lubbock (Tx) Rattlers 23 @ Topeka (Ks) Capitals 27
Another close and exciting game. Lubbock takes the lead on a field goal with 4 minutes left. Topeka answers back at the 2:44 mark with a TD to take the lead and the win.

Divison Playoff Matchups:
Columbia (Mo) Hawks @ Tulsa Barnstormers
Denver Mountaineers @ Lincoln (Ne) Cyclones
New Orleans Rebels @ Omaha Thrashers
Topeka (Ks) Capitals @ Peoria Lightening

Columbia (Mo) Hawks @ Tulsa Barnstormers
Another tight and exciting game for the Hawks. Down by 7 with 2:30 to play, the Hawks get a 3 yard TD pass to tie up the game. Once again, they call on their kicker, this time from 18 yards out he bangs through the uprights in OT!

Denver Moutaineers 14 @ Lincoln (Ne) Cyclones 13
A tight defensive struggle between Denver and Lincoln. Neither team can move the ball and Denver holds on to win 14-13.

New Orleans Rebels 24 @ Omaha Thrasers 9
Omaha never gets their offense in gear. However, after 3 quarters their only down 14-9. That quickly changes as the Rebels score 10 unanswered 4 quarter points to take it 24-9.

Topeka (Ks) Capitals 10 @ Peoria Lightening 13
Another tightly contested game, as Topeka is up 10-3 at the half. Peoria ties it up on a 3rd quarter TD, and wins it with a Field Goal early in the 4th.

The finals are:
Columbia (Mo) Hawks @ New Orleans Rebels
Denver Mountaineers @ Peoria Lightening

Columbia (Mo) Hawks 13 @ New Orleans Rebels 31
An anti-clamatic game for the Hawks. The Rebels take control early, and never give the Hawks a chance to take flight.

Denver Mountaineers 31 @ Peoria Lightening 24
Denver pulls out the upset in another thrilling game. With only 49 ticks left on the clock the Mountaineers get a 6 yard TD run by their RB to win the game!

MIDWEST DUST BOWL RESULTS
Denver Mountaineers 24 @ New Orleans Rebels 21
In a game for the ages, the Denver Moutaineers pull out a championship victory over the Rebels. WIth only 4 minutes left on the clock, the Mountaineers scored the go-ahead touchdown to take the lead, and bring the first ever DUST BOWL Trophy home to Denver!

Yeah it is a pretty cool idea, but I'd make the suggestion of reporting about players or storylines that develop across the league, because right now, to me it's just team names and scores.
