Why can't they just put double space in the toolbar?

I know, I know. You can just put it in yourself by customizing the toolbar. But come on! There have been how many versions of word now? Isn't it fairly obvious that spacing buttons are much more useful on the 'default' toolbar than several of the other buttons on there? Plus, there's EMPTY SPACE on the right side to put those buttons! Can ANYONE give me a good reason those buttons are not included in the default toolbar?

You know, you could just customize the toolbar :P

Maybe the empty space there is for people who have their resolution set lower -- in which case the toolbar takes up the whole width of the screen.

If you're being sarcastic in your gratitude, I was just annoying Passacaglia on purpose since he said "You can just put it in yourself by customizing the toolbar." Although, now that I've explained that, it's lost whatever humor it might have had.

No, honestly I'm not even being sarcastic. I've been using these programs for years and never knew I could customize the toolbar.

And apparently, I didn't even see that in Passacaglia's post, about the customization, only in yours.

Oh, okay. Cool then Be careful you don't have too much fun with it. I've spent way too much time deluding myself into thinking it's actually productive and not getting any real work done.

So hey Passacaglia, did you customize it yet? I'm gonna keep bugging you until you decide to start using all of the cool features on your computer and cell phone.

Actually, I haven't even used Word today. Just making conversation.

My point isn't about the cool things I can use...my point was that it's obvious to everyone on this planet that if anyone is going to customize their toolbar, that's the FIRST thing they'll put in. If everyone knows this, why not just put it in there right away?

So that you can feel all cool when you put it in yourself and use it all the time?

Once again, isn't it there by default? And if now, what the hell is the spacing button just to the left of the numbering button?

In the version of Word that I'm looking at, justification is to the left of numbering. This isn't my computer though, so I don't know if the toolbar has been tinkered with.

ETA -- Great. Now that I have 666 posts, I can't post again! I'll have to just continually edit this one.

Or you could get WordPerfect, which is cheaper, does everything Word does, and is much more customizable.

(Everyone stares at him.)

Right, I'll be leaving now.

Or just hit Ctrl-A, which highlights all of your text, then hit Ctrl-2 to double space everything highlighted. It works for single spacing by using Ctrl-1, and 1.5 spacing you just hit Ctrl-5. That is usually how I do my spacing.

Only a crazy Canadian from the land of Corel could speak such lunacy. Oh, speaking of which, I've got WP8 sitting around that I still use. What is the most recent version and is there any reason I should upgrade to it?

SI

The most recent version is 11.

As far as why you would upgrade... honestly, it would depend on what you're using it for now. If you're only writing letters and fax cover sheets, you probably won't need a newer version. But the import/export from Word is getting quite good, and the newer versions have PDF and XML exporting.

For more information, visit http://www.wordperfect.com/ and feel sorry for the poor bastard who has to build sites like that (i.e. me).

After doing some heavy-duty mailing lists via the merge feature of WordPerfect .. it gets my thumbs up!
