Hmmm, on one hand everybody loves rising to the challenge, but on the other, Earth is desperately overpopulated right now...I'll have to ponder this. |

Its actually a good piece, and an interesting challenge. Fertilizer usage is one of those great big problems that no one really understands or pays attention to (sort of like rare-earth mineral usage).

If we could just get people to give a crap, maybe we could solve this problem.

I think having a ground swell movement to help would be good in this regard ... we could have little collection points around the city called 'toilets' where people drop off donations etc. Human faeces - helping the planet by giving a crap about farming Last edited by Marc Vaughan : 04-23-2010 at 08:45 AM. |

As the resident farmer of FOFC, I can tell you that we are continually recycling phosphorus through our cattle manure.

I dunno about "doomsday scenario" but I imagine there are all sorts of impending problems out there that very few of us know about.
I mean, when you have almost 7 billion people and even if you only have 1% of them doing something, that's 7 million people all doing one thing. There are going to be consequences to pretty much every action that a group that size does. That's like saying you have the whole Dallas-Ft Worth metroplex (6.5M people) and really having no centralized law or body to govern them. SI

Just wait until the Chinese finally enact their "everyone jump at the same time" plan.
