I don't know if Gosport will be middle or bottom of the table but they were manhandled this match. There were some close to offside goals by the Downers and one of them Gosport may have an excuse but they were dominated this match. The defense and the mids were on fire. Cassidy and Tinker both score their first ever goals in league play for the Downers.

Match Analysis
What a brutal match. We should have won this one out of the gates but the referee wasn't having any kind of play. We all needed to wear frilly pink dresses and skip around and say excuse me and please and thank you as the match was being played.

Think I am joking, there were 8 yellow cards handed out and 1 red card. 5 to Odd Down and 3 to Wimborne. Ward who did not have one yellow or red card at all last season picked up two? I don't know what to think on this match.

Wimborne did keep the flow of the game away from where we wanted it by making it chippy and hard to get the movement we wanted.

We basically dominated this match. The only chances they got were a couple of counter attacking options and a few corners. 7 yellows and a red means it was a tightly called game. We do tend to push the lines and seeing the offside penalties creeping up are not good. We need to finish like we did in the other division.

I love when teams do not take us serious. We get games like we had today. Where we dominate it because we wanted it more. Today was the case of the Downers working their arses off and getting the result because of it. If the Downers would have converted on their chances this game would have been ugly and gotten out of hand.

September News and Notes

Sitting at the top of the League table is a nice feeling, especially with 5 games in and having played a game less than most of the teams. I need the GD to be higher though, for when the tie breakers hit. This league is tougher to score in.

Some good news was handled this past month as I asked the Board for new Training Facilities and they agreed to it. Construction has began and they will be completed by July 1st, 2013.

Weekly Notes

Match Notes

This is the first match between the clubs. Tom Murray is still out with his broken collarbone. With playing a cup match 4 days prior this might be a match with some backups getting the start, some starters resting for the next match.

Odd Down is picked to take this match.

Odd Down will play a 4-1-2-1-2 counter attacking formation. Despite being told a 4-5-1 formation will beat them (We don't have the talent for the formation)

Winchester run a 4-2-4 attacking formation.

Odd Down Lineup

GK Thomas
D Charlton / Esdaile / Ward / Harper
DM Glasgow
M Tinker / Byrne
AM Ogden
ST Taylor / Davidson

Subs: Knight / Morris / Eriksen / Rungratsamee / Hogarth

Match Time

2' Tinker with a free kick from the left side sends a cross in to Esdaile. Esdaile volleys it into the net. GOAL! Odd Down takes the lead 1-0!

27' Ogden leads Tinker into space. Tinker moves into the box and shoots. His shot goes wide.

30' Ansah from a free kick on the left side sends a cross to far post. Cuthbertson hits the volley past Thomas. GOAL! Winchester with an equalizer! 1-1!

37' Tinker from the right corner to the far post. Ward powers the header towards goal. It is blocked by the defender at the post and cleared out.

Half: Jamie Taylor is struggling, so I pull him aside and tell him there is no pressure on him today, just go out there and play. The rest of the team is told that we are outplaying them and we should see more goals.

59' Harper is injured and has to come off. With that, it forces Odd Down into a 4-3-3 formation. Glasgow moves to the DR, Harper is subbed by Eriksen. Eriksen is told he can make the difference here.

63' Cockerill from a free kick on the left sends a cross to far post. Cuthbertson goes up for the header and power it past Thomas. GOAL! Winchester take the lead, 2-1!

Despite actually dominating the first half and most of the second, we caved in this game and completely underperformed. I did stay away from letting them know the result was embarrassing and just stuck with that we weren't good enough. I will unleash hell if we lose to Maidstone at home. We will have a healthy rested squad.

11 shots, 7 off target lead to this teams demise. It didn't help that the second yellow on Esdaile was a ticky tack penalty and will probably result in my suspension or fine as I am going to bitch about it in the press.

Not much to say here. I am tired of the players getting two yellows a game. I can't sub them because of the injuries that we have to weather through right now. This was a game we should have won. I told the team I was disappointed. Defensively we played a tight game until Glasgow got the penalty.

2 games in a row with players sent off...I might not be nice to the officiating in my presser, if given the chance.

Thanks, medical and family issues have kept me away from it and I plan on resuming it here this weekend.

I look for specialists in the lower level..someone that is above and beyond in one area and then segment that based off of the groups.

Forwards I want speed, I want to force them to run. Shooting is the other ability I look at

My mids, since I typically run only 2 or 3, They funnel my forwards with quick passes so I look for the sets for that.

I am very demanding on my defense though, they have to defend and they have to be pinpoint long passers.

Frustrated is the best way to describe this loss. We clawed back, fought and did everything we could to try and get the draw. In the end the extra 5 minutes of injury time killed us. Our guys are worn out and it was apparent with 2 injuries and 6 yellow cards. The loss drops us to 9th place. I also feel the 19 to 6 ratio of fouls hurt us. I wonder who the ref wanted to win.

We do have a gap on the left side for a little bit. I want to bring in the other subs in about the 65th or 70th minute.

54' Adams with a cross to the far post from the right corner. Plummer goes up for the header and sends it wide. Goal Kick.

90' Rungratsamee dribbles down to the byline on the left side and sends a centering pass to Ogden who has his volley blocked.

92' Morris has his centering pass blocked out of bounds behind the goal. Corner Kick.

93' Morris sends it to the top of the box to Bailey. There is enough traffic in front of the goal that it pulls the keeper out of position. Bailey shoots to the lower right and it looks like it's open but Adams is there to clear it and save the game for Yate.

94' It's a counter and Ferry is alone against Thomas who manages to get the block and save the game for Odd Down.

Yate dominated us today. Our keeper kept us in the game. The call ups and recalls played a great game and it sucked we couldn't pull off the win with the limited chances we had. Asa Charlton was all over the field today as he started out as a left defender and ended up finishing as a central defender.

I wouldn't say we completely dominated this game, but it should have been ours with a goal in hand. Instead we are left sitting here wondering what could have been. Granted we are without our top 3 defensive players and the rest of the group has yet to gel, they should be able to. There might be some shake ups happening hear soon. I let the team know this loss was embarrassing as I stormed out of the room.

November News and Notes
A few rough games in November with some tired legs and a couple of brutal injuries. Sitting in 9th and having played an average of 3 less games than most other teams in the league is a positive. The +11 in GD needs to kick up a bit. December does look like it's going to be just as tiring as November.

What a truly brutal and horrible reffed game. There were 9 yellow cards and you couldn't breath on a guy without a foul being called. In fact, it has been said the referee did not have the best game of his career. It still comes to the point we stunk it up. Not a good intro for Forshaw either.

Halftime: Charlton is playing like crap and I let him know it, but I also let the team know that they all are playing like crap. Tinker is beat, I move Rungratsamee in for him and move him into a ST spot at drop Forshaw into an AM role so we are a 4-2-4 counter attacking.

I know I will get in trouble this week. This ref is the same one that pulled 5 yellows on us earlier. But I don't blame him, Taylor and Forshaw both played like crap as did most of the team. Metcalfe pissed me off with his sloppy play and will be issued a warning as well. I let lose in the locker room at the team in a fit of rage. They know I am pissed.

45' Murray moves in to take the ball. He doesn't trip the player or anything and is hit with a second yellow which means a red card. Murray is gone! We are now a man down. We drop Boakye down to the MF and are now 4-1-2-2

Match Analysis

Losing Murray early to the red card set us behind but the team responded amazingly. They were able to recover and score 3 goals in the second half. Mullen was amazing at the far post. His height and strength took control of the game. Ford is a horrible ref and I am always concerned whenever he is calling our games. So Mullen and Byrne both score their first ever goals for Odd Down. The win was good to get and broke our downward cycle. Mullen played close to a perfect game.

Wow, what a rough loss. It was in the cards though because of tired legs and the congested schedule. Again, aggression is killing us as yellow cards and fouls go to us. I need to calm the guys down, but I like the fact we are willing to be "thuggish" on the pitch.

December News and Notes
What a crazy December with a match played every 3 to 4 days. The guys are tired and beat, we have had some rough penalty strewn stretches. We are safe from relegation and Almondsbury has a pretty tight hold on #1. We are still 2 to 3 games behind the other teams because of a deeper than usual run in some of the cups.

We played complete crap, and I was angry at the end and tore into the team. We need to play better. Right now I don't think we have a chance of promoting but we can at least end in the top of the table. But we won't if we can't play better. I will be sitting Knight in the next match to give him a break. Murray is going to be fined for 2 weeks of salary for getting the boot. He is also suspended for 3 matches.

Match Analysis
What a weird game. We had our chances and just couldn't convert. It's amazing what happens when the referee lets you play. We had some of our best talent out there and couldn't convert. We even picked up the MoM.

Man of the Match
DC Jordan Ivey-Ward (7.7) - 8/20 passing, 4/4 Tackles, 3/4 headers, 6 interceptions

January News and Notes

We are happy to be sitting in 7th place but we are 16 points behind Almondsbury. It is more than likely we have a chance at 2nd but we need to step it up and play better. This mid-season fog has pretty much killed any momentum we have had. We also will get a weeks rest in between our matches now.

We dominated the match as far as possession and shots. We should have won this game but I can't be upset with the draw. It's the best the squad has played in a while. We need to pick it up though and play a complete game and win more.

Match Analysis
Problem here was converting shots. Don't get me wrong, I was happy with the draw and the dramatic comeback in the last minute and the close to winning goal in extra time. Jaime Taylor and Kent Eriksen both had a 7.2 rating. After yelling at my defense they stepped it up as well. Morris was the best on the team with a 7.7 but it wasn't enough to win us the Man of the Match.

Man of the Match
DC Andy Jones (8.3) - 20/30 passing, 7/7 tackles, 3/4 headers, 11 Interceptions
