XBOX Live Question

My kids bought some games on XBOX live over the past few years and our hard drive just died so we had to replace it. My question is how do we get all of the games and map packs etc that have been purchased for use on the new hard drive. I know there has to be a way but my kids tell me that have to pay for everything again. I myself can barely figure out the buttons on the controller so I can use some help from the gaming experts here.

I know it can be done because we bought a second XBOX 360 and my son downloaded Minecraft to it without paying again.

Just asked him how and he said "Sign in with their profile. Enter password and go to my games and everything is there. Then just D/L to new HD"

Im not much better than you so not sure how complete (or helpful) those instructions are..but its all I got.

First you need to sign into the profile you used to purchase the content. Then you need to go to the store page of the content you purchased. Click where you would normally click to buy it, but since you own it you can't buy it again. Instead the button will say download. Click it to download it.

If the my games tab really works and houses all of your purchase then do what CU Tiger said. I'm not really familiar with that tab. I always thought it only housed games you had downloaded on your hard drive. I would definitely check here first and if it doesn't work just go to the store page.

No to the repaying. It's just a dreary drag of a process to re-d'load everything.

as Jon said, it's a bit of a slog, but there's actually an easier way to recover your content. I don't know if the games show up in "My Games," although I should note that all the video content I've ever purchased is available to stream through the videos section, so maybe MS has improved this functionality.

I DO know that if you go to the 'account information' option in the 'system' tab, there should be something analogous to 'Download History,' and you can sort through that to find your games, DLC, etc. It will also include demos AFAIK, so again, sloggy. But I don't know that DLC would be retrievable through "My Games" so it wouldn't hurt to check the download history anyway.
