2014 NFL Regular Season, Week 8

As the season reaches the halfway mark, what will happen? Can the Cowboys or Cardinals sustain their momentum? Can the Jags get two wins in the row (YES PLEASE!)? Will Oakland win and dole to Cleveland two consecutive losses to zero-win teams? Lots of stuff!

If Cleveland loses and Hoyer performs poorly, does Johnny Football get the next start?

I don't think so, but I do think Johnny's in at half if Hoyer sucks the next game.

I also think Hoyer would have destroyed the Jags if he had Gordon out there. He narrowly missed a few down field plays that Gordon would make.

I have a feeling the Broncos are due for a let down game tonight.

I'm feeling the same thing. I said to a co-worker that SD will win by 2 TD, then I realized I'm facing Rivers and Allen in fantasy, so I hope not...

Thought I read earlier that one game last year, SD dominated possession to the point where Denver only had the ball for about 22 minutes. I'm guessing they'll be trying to do the same tonight.

Not buying but there has been a ton of talk here in town about it as that is what happened last year.

I thinkt the game will be close 31-24 Broncos. I wouldn't be shocked if they lost but the Chargers are another injured and beaten up team right now. I would rather Denver lost this game and went into Foxboro all pissed off mind you if they were going to loss one of the next two games.

Weak penalty. Not as bad as the PI they were going to call earlier on Denver and picked up.

Denver had the refs tonight.

1) Caldwell fumbled (huge play, tied game)
2) Should have been PI on Denver (didn't matter, Chargers scored TD)
3) There was no hold on Welker (INT taken away)
4) I don't think Thompson scored a TD (wouldn't have mattered, would have been third down, I think Denver scores anyway.

2 of those were MASSIVE calls that went the Broncos way. With all of that said, it was a great win for the Broncos. They didn't just win, they dominated most of the game. Huge gap in total yards despite playing prevent most of the fourth. Manning didn't get sacked. Hillman ran the ball well. We destroyed the Chargers helpless ground attack. (at the end of the third quarter the Chargers had ran 10 times for 14 yards)

It just shows how competitive this league is and how important turnovers are. Despite dominating the game, it's likely a tie game down the stretch if Denver had turned the ball over those two times instead of catching breaks.

This team is better than last years team. We'll see if it makes a difference or not.

Manning continues to be ridiculous. 22 TD and 3 INT now. 3 TD passes or more in 6 of 7 games. In his worst game of the year he led a game tying 80 yard drive/2 point conversion with no time outs and under a minute on the clock. The guy is simply insane.

The scary part is after the Pats game next week, things finally ease up. Only 3 home games the rest of the year, but those are against the Bills, Dolphins and Raiders. Go 3-3 against the Pats, Raiders, Chiefs, Chargers, Bengals and Rams on the road and you have 12 wins and a likely top seed in the AFC.

Should be a rough game for Atlanta and Detroit, playing in the morning hours in US time. They'd better realize the daylight saving time switch (in the London) too and not show up an hour late.

Denver should go at least 14-2 with their remaining schedule barring injury.

The biggest threat is the Colts running the table, but Denver has the tie breaker.

Watched a video where they clearly showed Caldwell had his wrist hit the ground before the ball was dislodged. I take back #1 on the Broncos got away with one list.

Snowman,

Denver was having a lot of problems themselves heading into that game. The running game was non existent at that point. The defense was still in the process of gelling. The first three games rushing totals:

Indy - 3.2 yards per carry
KC - 4.6 yards per carry, but 2 runs in the game generated over 40% of the total yards. 9 of the 18 called runs generated under 2 yards.
SEA - 1.8 yards per carry

Due to the running game being off and the defense working things out, Denver was actually pretty heavily outgained the first 3 games. The next 4 games? Pretty unbelievable. The last four games, the average total yards is in favor of Denver 443-259.

Outgain your opponent by 184 yards a game? You'll win quite a few.

What was Julio Jones doing after that interception? DB is returning it and he turns away from that to complain to the ref... Maybe try to tackle the guy returning the interception first?

As long as it's not my Jags, I'm a huge fan of a team heading over the pond to London. That team would, likely, become my 2nd favorite team instantly.

Really think Matt Ryan needs to be taken out or not given the start next game-too many unbelievably bad decisions like that INT-make him wake up a bit.

They should go to a 15 yard once, eject afterwards model. It would disappear immediately.

Thanks Troy, we thought they were going to kneel down and settle for a 60 yarder to win the game...

Mike Smith is an idiot and should be fired immediately after this game. Detroit had no timeouts so you pass it twice rather than run twice and leave them 20-30 seconds to go 70 yards? Now Detroit is going to pull another win out of their asses.

For the life of me I can't figure this out, there's 1:55 left and the other team has no timeouts so you pass it twice? You can run 1:20 off just with the playclock. The plays themselves will take about 5 seconds each and then the punt takes 5 seconds. They'd only have 20-30 seconds left to get in FG range. Mike Smith should be fired.

Yeah unless Atlanta wins the division, which is entirely possible in the putrid NFC South, he's gone at the end of the year.
