That looks as absurdly ridiculous as the last one. Too bad, the first movie was pretty good.

I haven't been watch the trailer yet.

But, regardless of the quality, "The Dark Knight Rises" is one of the few movies I know I will be seeing in the theater next year. Without a doubt, I'm there.

Chris Nolan is one of the few directors whose films are "must see" for me and based off how great the first two were, I am so there.

This. Nolan hasn't made a bad movie.

That's a good point. Nolan is a "must-see" for me, too.

Still, that trailer was just awful.

There is no way this movie won't be great. Christopher Nolan does not make bad films. I can't wait.

If I remember correctly, I don't think I thought much of the first couple of trailers for the last one, so this doesn't make me want to see it less.

The football field thing was pretty freakin' ridiculous though...

one of the writers @ cracked laid out how he thinks the the 3rd is gonna go (makes a lot of sense) and if true is really quite brilliant. especially in a world of disposable superhero movies.

I REALLY like this trailer. I enjoyed the other one as well, but I think this one feels more Nolan.

The trailer looks awesome.

I guess all those folks who wrote about the death and demise of the superhero movie were a little wrong. Between this and "The Avengers", I think we could be hitting a new "golden era".

Nah, I saw someone posted there was the 3rd movie and I totally forgot about the 2nd one. Looked it up and remembered it was the one with Heath Ledger and I never got around to actually seeing it.

Wow, that is a surprise. That movie was a really big deal. It feels odd to me to see someone so disconnected from something that was, pop culturally, really present and obvious. Kinda like if you told me you had never heard of Starbucks, lol.

What's Starbucks??

For real, 2008 was crazy for me. Started off the year very sick, left a fucked up job to take on an old job that ended up being SUPER fucked up, dog died, and then I got divorced, dated some crazy chicks. Plus never liked Heath Ledger. Especially after A Knight's Tale. What the fuck was that?

1. Not watching.

2. Early reviews say it's Nolan's masterpiece.

Nolan is an incredible director. I don't think anything good can be said about him that would be considered hyperbolic.

Even his first film Following started out kind of bland but finished amazingly well for me.

1. I haven't been to a movie on opening day in years.

2. I've never seen a big budget movie on the Imax.

3. I got tickets for Friday afternoon for me and my oldest to go see it on the Imax. That's how excited I am for this movie. I saw a "making of" type show and every seen just looked phenomenal. This could be one of the greatest action movies I've ever seen.

I have some theories about the film that have absolutely no basis other than from my own thinking...

1. Batman dies. I think this seems like an obvious end to the trilogy.

2. John Blake becomes the 'new' Batman. There's supposed to be a Nolan directed 'reboot' in 2015... Blake could step in as the replacement.

3. John Blake becomes Robin. It seems odd to me to have a supporting actor cast as just a do-gooder cop outside of Jim Gordon that would seem to have a major role. I feel like there's more to Blake than meets the eye in a number of ways.

While I understand the dislike for 3D movies, I tend to love the IMAX films I go and see. I'll likely see this again on the IMAX but going with friends to start and likely doing a matinee first.

Yeah. I'll definitely see it on IMAX, and probably sometime this weekend. But I am catching a midnight release on a regular screen as I was lazy when it came to getting tickets and the midnight IMAX was sold out. And being a nerd, I have to see it at the midnight release.

The problem with Blake is there is nothing set for him in the DC world. Batman has never died. Robin has never had that name. Nolan even said there's no Robin in the trilogy although it might be a cheat to have him be there for the reboot. Not to say Nolan can't go with his own vision, but I can't recall Nolan going that much outside of the Batman mythos either.

Yeah, that's the thing I'm struggling with too.

Blake has appeared in anything Batman related ONCE, ever.

I tend to agree, there is surely more to Blake than what we're led to believe so far.

I don't know about killing Bruce, but maybe injuring him to the extent that he cannot continue as Batman (i.e. - like in Knight Fall). Blake could then succeed him as 'Batman'.

The reason I think this could be possible (either injury or death) is that it would bring the trilogy full circle. The talks between Bruce and Ras in BB about becoming more than a man, becoming a symbol because a man can be killed or broken. Batman, as a man can be killed, but as a symbol another can step in and carry on his fight against injustice.

I just think it would be a natural conclusion to Nolan's trilogy.

But what are you guys talking about Nolan supposedly directing a reboot in a few years?

Nolan has said numerous times that he is done with Batman after TDKR. There was talk that the studio was going to throw boatloads of money at Nolan to be the "Godfather" of a similar Justice League universe as Marvel is doing with their super heroes but Nolan says he's moving on.

I hope Blake is an uber villain named the Red Herring.

I wonder if they can do like a NightWing trilogy and then reintroduce a new Batman at that point.

There were rumors for a long time that (even posted on IMDb) that Nolan would be directing a reboot beginning in 2015. I checked earlier and it has been removed. So I was working my thoughts out of that.

I remember this being posted before. Still, I tend to stand by my other post. I can see Batman falling, others taking his place, but he ultimately comes back. Trailers definitely have him down and out but considering a comeback.

Interesting to see the initial reviews finally hitting Rotten Tomatoes. Seems like the popular word for the negative review is bloated since I saw it around 4 times out of the 8 negative reviews. It's 2:45 long, so I can see that happening. One mentioned it takes about an hour to get going. Again, I won't be surprised as few movies really can carry the emotions all the way through nearly 3 hours. It's at 86% which is Batman Begins territory. It's way early though.
