Concerts
I forgot how great of a concert Static-X put on until I saw them again last night. Tripp gave me his shot of grape cough syrup they took between songs. For whatever reason, he wouldn't drink it. But anyway, this was the best show I have seen since Slipknot about 4 years ago. The new stuff wasn't great, but Love Dump and Bled for Days were unbelievable. The pit was great as well. The venue was small, but the crowd was crazy and the band was in it the whole time. God, why can't Slipknot come back...
Anyone else see any great concerts lately?

Hey, Crosby Stills and Nash was one of the best concerts I have ever been too. Sadly when I saw Page and Plant, Jimmy drooled on himself a bunch. Still good though.
Steven Stills Treetop Flyer is one of my favorite songs. I am glad my dad talked me into going to that one.

Note about Slipknot:
They are in California with Rick Rubin right now, tracking for their new album. We talked to Paul Grey (bass player for Slipknot) about 3 weeks ago. He is thinking about coming back up here to finish up his solo project that they worked on last November (F.O.R). He is talking about sometime in February. There are 5 songs done with 5 more that need vocals. I will keep you posted on any news I get from him. I saw Static X about 2 years ago. I would have to say that they weren't very good. One reason was that they were on a bill with Morbid Angel, Slayer and Pantera. Needless to say, the boos Static X got from the crowd were justified, considering that they didn't fit with the rest of the bands that night.

Yeah, Static-X doesn't fit in with metal very well. Some of the best songs they have just kind of have a vibe that the crowd gets. The Evil Disco. But as a straight up metal band, they don't work properly.
As for Paul Grey, he landed on me, got up and ran my ass over again when they were in Fargo. He is much bigger than I thought. I wish they would just stay together, I saw Corey and Jims band live and it was okay and probably would have been better had I not known the great concert they put on as Slipknot.

i'm catching Rancid in Providence tonight at Lupo's which should be an incredible show.
Also on the Horizon we have the Ducky Boys playing their first show in almost 2 years December 14th. They're sharing the bill with the Street Dogs (ex-Dropkick Murphys singer Mike McColgan's new band) |

Nothing really. They were taking shots of grape cough syrup between songs and he was the only one that didn't have it. I don't know why, but he didn't drink one. He was giving them to the people in the crowd, and I just happened to be in the front when handed it out once.

Took the wife to see Elton John a couple of weeks ago. He actually came to Tallahassee - it was odd to see a full house at the civic center, since the basketball team barely draws. Not my cup o' tea, but for someone pushing 60 (or is he already there?), he put on a damn fine show.
