I don't think Haynes King will be NFL quarterback, but that kid is going to be a hell of a coach one day. They will have an assistant wheel barrow his balls into the stadium every week.

Oooof, that's a brutal incorrect call on the PI. The game is almost over without that.

Refs are having to use an awfully big hose to get their desired outcome.

I have been worried about this game all season. You could see the grit of this Tech team all year, and you can see the lack of toughness in this Dawg team all year.

Sure seems like GT hasn't done well when they've blitzed.

1) Yes, got hosed repeatedly by the zebras .. but you can't leave the margin that thin on the road as an underdog. "Leave no doubt" is really the only chance you have in situations like those, and Tech failed to do that.
2a) I appreciate that Brent Key has gotten some players that give forth an effort / gets those players to do so. 2b) I also know that tonight illustrated how far the staff still has to go, the playcalling was beyond atrocious in OT, the decision making at multiple moments was lacking. Still a great deal of work to be done if actual relevance beyond occasional spoiler is to ever return. 3) Win lose or draw, #THWG 24/7/365

That game clocked in at about 4:35. There's got to be a better way to do overtime. I'm OK with ties. I wish they had ties in non-playoff baseball.
That mess was about as much like football as soccer shootouts are like soccer. |

I'm ok with ties in certain situations. I'll certainly take them over rules that are effectively coin flips anyway. |

I assume I've brought up how I would do OT on here at some point -- forget the coin flip, just turn off the game clock (or start an OT period if you prefer), and keep the ball where it was when regulation ended.

I couldn't resist a little messing around with the Big 12 tie-breakers. I'm not sure I have some of the scenarios correct where a 6-3 team reaches the championship, because my assumption is that if Kansas is the only common opponent for 5 or 6 teams, and 2 of them lost to Kansas while the others won, that eliminates the teams that lost to Kansas. It wasn't explicitly clear from the tie-breaker sheet if that's the case.
Colorado is in the most scenarios simply because the Buffs are already 7-2, even though they don't do well in tie-breakers. Assuming a set of 64 results covering the six games tomorrow: ASU vs. ISU, 12 of 64 scenarios, including the four-way tie at 7-2. ASU vs. Colorado, 11 ISU vs. Colorado, 9 BYU vs. ASU, 8 BYU vs. ISU, 8 BYU vs. Colorado, 8 Colorado vs. KSU, 5 Colorado vs. Baylor, 3 TCU, Texas Tech and West Virginia are all eliminated, even though they can finish 6-3. KSU and Baylor are the only potential 6-3 teams that win tie-breakers. No one is master of its own destiny, though ASU is 31 for 32 with a win and ISU is 29 for 32. No one can get in with a loss today. |

Didn't finish watching it. But I did watch the Arkansas-Ole Miss 7-OT game in early 00's and I feel your pain. Back then, think it was the longest or tied for longest game. Regardless, it's in the Dawg's lore now to be remembered & celebrated for the next 20 years or so. But hey, congrats to the Dawgs for fighting back from 2 scores down and eventually winning it. Yeah man just call it a tie at a certain point for non-playoff games.

Watched the whole thing, the stupidest part is that after each OT they make them walk 100 yards to the other end of the field. You get 1 timeout for all the OTs, and stay in one spot.
Oh, and GT was jobbed by the refs.

Hard to believe it.
My next door neighbor has the OSU flag up, driveway lined with about 15-20 cars. It's been absolute silence this afternoon. Definitely unexpected. A team without an offense going into Columbus and somehow hanging in there. |
