Shocked that a Brady lead team got bailed out with horrible calls.

I've watched a lot of bad qb play and Daniel Jones is like a strange love child between Rex Grossman and Mitch Trubisky. He's athletic, has no feel for the pocket, can make some great throws (especially down the field), but throws 4-5 bad balls for every good throw while throwing some of the dumbest interceptions you'll see.

Refs don’t pick up that flag if there are 70k giants fans in the stadium booing.

Feels like DK Metcalf is about a half season away from being one of the best receivers in the league if not a potential hall of famer. His hands and route running continue to develop... with that size and speed it’s a scary combination

Man, I hate it when offensive penalties end up benefitting the offense. That PIT FG shouldn't have gotten a do-over.

I can't believe AZ didn't go for it, 4th-and-1 from about the 30 down 3. You make the FG, you give Miami 1:45 to get their own FG. Dude missed a 49 yard FG short, which was far from optimal, but I think they lose even if he makes it.

The Jets are going to lose Trevor Lawrence to the Jags.

or

Trevor Lawrence is going to be stuck in Jacksonville.

I glanced at espn and noticed the pats-jets score. Watching the pbp log on this final pats drive is like watching a car crash

any one got that Larry David gif> Yes, they won a game they should have lost, scoring twice in the final two minutes, including a Brady-like finish by Cam Newton.

It was to the 0-9 Jets.

Technically 2 games back, and have H2H wins over Oakland/Miami who are 6/7 right now (plus another game vs the Dolphins), but it would be surprising. The advanced numbers hate the Pats right now, though outside of that 49ers game close losses to KC, Seattle & Buffalo seem to indicate they're still dangerous.

Yeah, maybe the Bengals can run the head to head record to 33-10 this century.

I'm just biding my time until the squealers spend 20 years sucking balls, and I'll just sit and revel in it.

I've definitely enjoyed the forty-whiners last couple decades of bottom feeding with only occasional glimpses of their past.

How many more kicks does Gostkowski get to blow? He's costing them games.

Yeah the fedex driver punter gave up 14 points and Gostkowski 6 more that is 20 points you can’t afford to give up when you have no pass rush.

I wonder if having played with Gostkowski changes the relationship. Would it be harder to cut him because of a prior relationship as teammates? Would Vrabel have a different bond with Gostkowski in comparison to player's that he has only coached?

yeah, i was considering that he might be unable to properly evaluate the situation. The other possibility is that there just aren't any kickers worth signing I'm guessing.

Gostkowski oddity: 6/7 from 50+, 2/7 from 40-49. He actually leads the NFL in made FG over 50 yards this season.

Would that suggest that it's mechanical somehow? And therefore fixable?

I think there's kind of an assumption fallacy with kickers. You can't get back missed kicks. But do those missed kicks really predict future missed kicks to the degree than you can be more than 50% certain that everyone else you thought was worse going into the season will now be better going forward? There's just something about, "he's missed kicks, let's cut him", that feels like a 1985 emotion-based coaching mentality. Should whatever information you can gather about a kicker from past performance, tryouts, other metrics, all be blown up because a guy missed what, 3 or 4 more kicks over 10 games than what you would have expected?

It seems like the teams that chase kickers never find a good one.

Yup!

I still cant think of too many kickers Id trust to make the next kick more than Gostkowski. I think cutting him would be a mistake.

Im not going to try to look it up or anything but I wonder how many times in a career a 85 percent free throw shooter misses misses 8 out of 20 free throws. My guess is many times and with kickers its just small sample sizes a lot of times.

EDIT

Couldn't help myself. I looked at James Harden, a 86-87 percent free throw shooter who also takes a lot of free throws, and his game logs from last year.
He had a 2 game span where he was a combined 11-18
A separate 3 game stretch where he was 13-23

So in 68 games he had two different times with high variance from the norm very similar to what Gostkowski is going through right now. The good news is the following 3 game stretches after these variances he was a combined 61-66 so I guess Id expect Gostkowski to get hot now.

Well, whatever the reason, there are no good games at 1pm and about 4 I want to watch at 4pm. Kinda sucks.
