When he collapsed on the sidelines and the owner stayed to watch the game instead of go to the hospital . . . that was probably a bit of a "writing is on the wall" moment.

I'm not so sure. Any new coach is going to likely be stuck with Rick Smith as GM, doesn't know if Arian Foster will ever be the same after back surgery and Andre Johnson may want out. Plus, they don't have a QB and will probably have to eat the Matt Schaub extension.

We've seen recently how unnecessary a big name RB is, and with the high draft pick they will have, they can replace Schaub if necessary. Eating the contract sucks, but the team has a ton of talent there. Especially considering the weakness of the AFC, it wouldn't be surprising for them to be a playoff team next year.

It's not that they won't be able to replace Foster, but that he is going to eat a pretty big piece of cap space over the next few years.

He can't handle the blitz. He's got great numbers non-blitz and terrible numbers when blitzed. It seems like that could be fixed to some degree, but maybe not.

True, he and Schaub will be a cap nightmare combined.

Then there's obviously questions about Brian Cushing whose missed most of the past two seasons and also has a large cap number.

I think the Texans have talent, but I'm not sure someone is going to be able to come in and turn it around right away.

I think the biggest problem when he gets blitzed is that the interior line is really bad at slowing down blitzes up the middle. He's shorter, so when you put guys right in his lap he definitely struggles.. I think he can do better, but I think the Bengals need to figure out how to use the talent at their disposal a little better too. That'll come in the next couple years.

This is cute, but the league has passed Parcells by. The last 10+ years have shown that your record is in all actuality just a qualifier for an EOY tournament, in which the team going in with the best record in either conference gets eliminated 80% of the time (that is the actual stat).

Then it's a good thing the Redskins have been mathematically eliminated, or local callers would still be thinking they had a better chance than Dallas or Philly (being the better team and all).

That's a nice myth you've developed even if you add in the last 3 years of winners.

Your odds of winning are a lot higher if you have a record of 12-4 or higher which usually indicates some level of home field. so the regular season does matter and it's not just a "play in" tournament.

He merely said the "team going in with the best record" doesn't really end up winning the big game (Any Given Sunday and all that). Hence, "you are what your record is" is simplistic at best.

#1 seed in the playoffs in my money league, so I'm on bye. Playing spoiler in the FOFC league. Drafted #1 in my money league, last in the FOFC league. And we ended up that way.

Bush not playing as me wondering for next week...I have Ben Tate and a plethora of wideouts, but still...kind of concerning.

I know I am in the minority but this reminds me of watching U.S open golf and having everyone shoot +10.

Talk on the Redskins pregame is that Shanny could be gone very soon, if not today. Start of that game is making that look a little more probable.

Eagles game...that's nuts. Had friends post pics from morning tailgating and everything was clear (of course that was like at 7-8AM).

I wouldn't mind a few flurries during the game, but a blizzard? No thanks.

I'm really impressed with the technology from Fox. Automatically superimposing the yard numbers isn't an easy task.

I still can't stand the Lions. Too many cheap shots and almost-cheap shots.

It's a shame that one of these teams (hopefully Detroit) might very well miss the playoffs over a game that isn't exactly the modern game of football. But it's a winter game and you take the weather the way it is.
