This is the only matchup where neither should win.

I'm in the odd position of not voting for Prince last round, but voting for them this round.

I pissed as hell that Rush is not in this spot, but I've seen Prince (Purple Rain tour) and he was sensational. Not Rush-sensational, but still great. I'm voting Prince, but I'm grumbling about the greatest three-piece in history not making it outta the first round. :hrmph:

Prince is one of the best guitar players in the world...and probably has more talent in his left testicle than Stipe and company ever had...the musical taste on this site is questionable, at best, but what the heck, it's all subjective.

REM actually has a very, very good rythm section. Stipe and Buck aren't much, though.

I hate Prince.
Edit: I recognize that Prince has enormous ability, both as a performer and a songwriter. The stuff he saves for himself just hasn't ever done it for me. Last edited by Drake : 11-12-2007 at 11:33 AM. |

"I only know three REM songs, and guess what, I don't like two of them! Oooh no, I'm not cool, I don't like REM!"

Did go to see REM a couple years ago at the Mohegan. Not being a fan, most of the songs were unrecognizable, as most of the set came off of their most recent album. Every now and then they'd throw in an old hit, but Stipe was pretty snooty about it--prefacing each recognizable song with a "now we'll indulge you with an old hit" or something like that. Crowd was pretty low energy too, but that was to be expected since half the crowd was probably in their 50s and comped...

I always wanted to go see R.E.M., but never had the chance. Only way I'd go see them now is if Bill Berry rejoined, which seems unlikely.
You can, however see Prince in Las Vegas, which is sad in its own way.
