Things have been international here. So far I have one failure, a Korean girl who I thought was interested in me, but who has a boyfriend, it turns out. (He's a cool guy though, and I click with both of them on a friendship level). Then there's a girl who I believe is Romanian, where I'm not quite sure what the situation is.

Got a date with a cute Vietnamese pharmacist, who winked at me on match, on Saturday night. Only downside is she lives about 40-45 minutes away (she is close to New Orleans), but she seems interesting enough to drive and meet.

My girlfriend lives approximately an hour away. Initially we just went on dates in areas about halfway. We gave that up after about 2-3 months. Now one of us takes the entire trip and we spend more time with each other and less money to boot. She's been coming down for Financial Peace University; for football games and practices as well. Once football season ends, I got a feeling I should just camp out at her place for a month.

Proposing to her in 17 days.

Back when I was 20 I had three buddies that were 21. We'd sit around from time to time playing card or video games. One Sunday night, Dave looks at his watch and announces it's 9:30. He then tells us he's got to take his girlfriend to school in the morning so we'll have to leave soon.

I start giggling. The guys try to pry it out of me and I finally let them know what thought entered my head.

"Well, Dave, when you said you had to take her to school, I was just wondering if it was high school or middle school."

I continue to laugh. The other two bust into a laugh. Dave turns red. He stares at Mark. Mark stops laughing and says, "I swear I didn't tell him."

Turns our Dave was indeed going out with an 8th grader...one who had "failed twice", like that was any excuse.

He later got the girl pregnant, which he adamantly denied and tried to hide from everyone but Mark.

Dave wasn't the brightest.

Still isn't.

So the Romanian girl thing. She's been coming in for paper consultations with me and we seem to get on well. The center was closed this weekend for a holiday, so we met at a coffee shop this afternoon to go over a finalish copy.

As we were leaving, I asked her if she wanted to go to a movie or dinner sometime and she said okay. We did the whole number exchange thing, so we'll see how it goes.

Sweet...Mine just went down hill...well, it's more of a roller coaster ride....she hates my job, is very upfront about it, I hate my job but hey it pays and keeps me and my kids taken care of.

Alrighty. Met up with her last night and it went very well. Have another date set up for Friday night. We met at this wine bar in San Fran at 8 and were there until almost midnight. I haven't talked that much in long, long time. She seemed very down to earth and did not have that bay area pretentiousness about her that about 99% of the women I've met up here have. So that was a nice breath of fresh air. So, all in all, a good first step.

I figured out why she seemed a bit 'off'. She said that it's been one pervert or creep after another, so she was a little guarded, which I totally understand.

Brief update:

Broke up with pharmacist several weeks ago, when she revealed to me she had Hepatitis B! Said she got it in Vietnam. She definitely should have told me earlier in the relationship. Scary stuff out there. Latest prospect is an old high school crush who I met up with at a mini-reunion over Thanksgiving. Looks like I will be moving to NJ for a job, so that could take off.

The only thing I am uncertain about is, she's Russian. She's been in America for 20 years, but, I really don't have any interaction with any Russian people at all. I'm sure she's been 'Americanized' to a point, but, am worried about a culture clash.

Okay well actually I spent some time today and created a match.com profile, although I haven't paid yet or anything. Still debating the merits of doing that now versus waiting until I'm done losing all my weight and am down around 185 instead of the 228 where I am now.

She's actually local, which is freaking awesome. I can't tell you how much I dread driving into the city here. The only thing I am uncertain about is, she's Russian. She's been in America for 20 years, but, I really don't have any interaction with any Russian people at all. I'm sure she's been 'Americanized' to a point, but, am worried about a culture clash.
