We gain 10 prestige. We led the league in casualties, rushes, possession and possession in the opponent’s half. We will be doing the Aerial Cup next.

It is between season things, so we can try to purchase a free agent for our team who is already developed. For example, we could:

Bob the Distasteful, level 5, Claw, Foul Appearance, +2 movement,

Now I can’t buy a Warrior, I don’t want a Beast, and I am not stupid enough to sing an expensive player with Decay. Pestigors? I can get two more. Here are my options:

Togor – Block, +1 movement, +1 agility, Claw

Ri-fagor – Block, Claw, Mighty Blow, Tackle

La Raareallylongname – Block, Claw, Mighty Blow

Pa-mulgors – Block

Okay, let’s talk about this:

Someone with Claw will reduce the Av of someone they successfully tackle to 7. Against teams and players with AV7 or less, it does little, so Norse, Amazon, Halfings, Goblins and such aren’t affected. The roll to see if you injury them is called breaking their armor. On 2d6, you need to get higher than their armor. Any roll of a 8 or higher, no matter their armor, breaks their armor with Claw.

Mighty Blow gives you +1 when rolling to break armor. With Claw, it basically means everyone has an armor of 6. This is a powerful combination.

I was considering building a Pestigor to this: Block, Claw, Mighty Blow, Pile On.

One of them has that already. They’ll become your primary blitzer/injury guy. They are a headhunter.

I decide to see if I can negotiate with La Raa……. For a spot on my team.

We sign him for three seasons, 110k each season. We change his name officially to La Raa.

Our first game of the Ariel Cup is against the Wolfenburg Diggers, a Necromantic team. My favorite!

Our ranks are 1320 vs 1300, so no petty cash to balance things out.

All of their players are level one save a Block, Strip Ball Ghoul.

Necromantic can be the slow bashy team with their Flesh Golems and Zombies. They can also be the fast run oriented team with their Werewolves, Wights and Ghouls. They are my favoritist team ever.

Perfect Defense for me on the kickoff.

They get a touchback and here we go. They position themselves, and the Ghoul has the ball. They begin to cage up and tackle a few people here and there but a blitz GFI by their WW pushes Gaggle back but does not tackle him, and the follow up knocks the wolvie down. I blitz in Gaggle, knock over their other wolf and base their Ghoul/runner. Taurus moves in and bases him too. La Raa bases an adjacent Wight. Karl badly hurts a Zombie. I move Toro to a central safety position. Bob tries to foul a downed Werewolf but nothing happens. We pass the turn.

A Wight dodges away from a Nurgle Warrior, and a blitz from a Fleshie pushes one of my guys back and protects their ghoul/ball carrier. They drop a few players and dodge out the Ghoul, which I find suspect. They exposed it. Toro blitzs the ghoul, rings its bell, fails to pick up the ball, I reroll it, fail, and keep going. It’s not a turnover unless I actually try to pick it up with a move, rather than a ball scattering. I have enough movement left to try and pick it up a third time. Let’s try. No one else nearby has the agility and movement to get to the ball. I picked it up. I move in Spitter II and Karl to help. Let’s see who else I can free. We drop two Wights and stun a wolf. I free Bob, who rolls a GFI to get into a helpful position over by our ball carrier. We pass the turn.

A Ghoul dodges away and they are positioning. They drop a Nurgle Warrior and blitz with a Fleshie. They stun Karl and get some guy next to my ball carrier. They have just one player on Toro, so I want to slide to the right. What I could do is blitz Toro at the blocker, then run. I do that. I ko the defender with a successful block, and move out. Spitter II, Franz, and Bob move to cage my guy. I drop a wolf to help protect my guys. Varg on a Wight. I roll double block twice, and since he has block, I use a reroll and hit skull twice and Varg goes down.

A Fleshie blitzes in and pushes aside Bob to base Toro. A ghoul dodges from La Raa and does so as well. Both Wights dodge as well. Suck. Eventually a dodge by a Zombie fails. Our best option is to dodge with Toro away. They’ve built a powerful attack. I try it. It works. Frantz and Spitter II follow. La Raa blitzes a Flesh Golem, tackles him, and rings his bell – ko’d player. I successfully dodge with Davion and get it near Toro too. The turn ends.

Here comes a ghoul. They base my escorts with a Wight and that Ghoul, and they dodge a Werewolf away from my guys. They move the other wolf into a scoring position. They pass the turn. I can score right now, but it’s the 5th turn, too soon. Spitter II pushes the Ghoul away. Taurus marks their wolf. I blitz with Toro to crowd surf their ghoul. I get a push arrow and push him back. I pass the turn. Their wolf dodges and their Wight blitzes to push back my cage. Their wolf is next to my guy. I blitz in Franz to push him away.

The kickoff is Cheering Fans which give them another re-roll. They position their players and a WW grabs the ball, with Wight escort. They blitz and tackle well and drop four of my guys. Nicely done. I drop a Flesh Golem and a Zombie. I want to sneak a couple of Pestigors behind their flanks. I blitz with Taurus to free him and get a two die block. He drops a Zombie and sneaks past the left flank. Franz knocks out a Ghoul and Toro sneak in the right flank. We pass the turn.

A Wight blitzes Toro and gets a dodge tackle, but with dodge, Toro is just pushed back. Their final turn of the half does little. Mine tackle a lot but just drop people. About five people, but nothing more. Half time!

They get an extra reroll through brilliant coaching. The ball is deep by Toro. I set up defense and get ready for Taurus to run in to pick It up. I miss a two die block on the line and have to burn a reroll. Spitter II drops a Flesh Golem and rings its bell. I blitz a Wight with La Raa and have to take a double skull, no one falls. Finally, I move in Taurus to pick up the ball. The ball is picked up. I pass the turn.

They have a great turn, knocking out two of my players in the middle. Quibex and Davion are out. They have the entire middle of the pitch now. I move up the right flank. We have six players around Taurus. I blitz a wolf with La Raa and put him down. We pass the turn. Players go all around the cage and blitz a player off it to base our runner. They base with a WW and Zombie. Franz stuns a Zombie with double block. (He has block and does not go down). I miss a dodge out and reroll and drop the ball.

They knock out another Nurgle Warrior. At least they fail to pick up the ball. They have three people on the ball – Flesh, WW and Wight. We have none. We manage to push the WW off. Spitter II tackles the Flesh that was by it. I blitz and stun a different WW with La Raa and run him over, but we can’t get anyone on the ball. They stand up players and then KO Taurus. At least they missed the pick up again. This is going awful right now. After the ball rolled away they only have a zombie on it and I have a rotter on it.

I blitz in La Raa and stun the Zombie, freeing the ball. Bob picks up the ball. He throws the ball to an open Toro. The only player in the way is a low agility Zombie based to one of my guys - he needs a 6 to pick it and does. Yup, this game could not be going worse right now alright. A WW moves to a scoring position. He ko’s La Raa. Then a double tackle ends it. Spitter II has a two die tackle on the ball carrier and tackles him. We try this again. Bob picks up the ball and…throws a perfect launch, which gives Toro a +1 to catch, but it fails. End of turn. Which I had rerolls!

Their turn ends after they dodge a Wight out and try to blitz Toro with a ww but the dodge is knocked down. I have one turn left. There is just one Zombie adjacent to the ball. Gaggle blitzes in and puts down the Zombie. Okay Toro, pick it up. He does and he runs with it. No escorts mind you. But if he can run far enough, they won’t score when they get it back. I miss a dodge to give me an escort and the turn ends. Their Wight dodges and bases my ball carrier. Remember they have two turns left, this and another, but I have just one left. They make dodges, blitzes, tackles and go for its with ease. Here’s my path to victory and another score. Toro blitzes the With beside him, but its in front. He has to move it. Then we need a GFI if we cannot follow him, because he’s still standing. Here we go. We tackle him and move in for the score.

They have one turn left to suck.

They KO La Raa. Nothing else and we win 2-0.

We get 60k and a FF.

The Game MVP was Karl the Decayed

Karl has leveled up to level 3 – he rolls a 6 and 2, and takes Block to combine with his Guard.

I buy a 4th Pestigor. Say hello to Remus.

I have 20k left.

Okay, here we go.

Game 7 vs the same Necro Team, and they have 110k in inducements and petty cash against us.

That sucks. We barely beat them last game. It probably should be a 1-1 draw but we got a bit lucky in the second half. Alright, let’s see what we can do.

It’s raining. I win the flip and kick off. They get an extra team reroll with brilliant coaching and we accidentally kick the ball deep into their endzone. It’s still in bounds, but on the back line. They blitz a Zombie to the line to push back a rotter. I have three rotters for playing the lines, a Warrior and Pestigor out wide on each side, two warriors in the middle close by the line and two Pestigors behind them to move wherever I need. That’s my basic formation now. They sent two WWs back for the ball and one fumbles the pickup and they use the extra re-roll from the kick off result, and fail. Turn to us. They had a small turn.

La Raa blitzes a Ghoul and rolls double skulls. Ugh. I use a reroll, take a tackle. I move Taurus into their backfield after opening up their defense. I also bring forward Spitter II to base their downed Ghoul and Wight over on the flank. Varg bases their Ghoul on the other end and Remus runs around the Ghoul on the sideline and pops back out on the last space. This helps me to threaten their backfield. I bring Toro up to the rear center to help with defense, but keep it back enough to play safety if I need to. Both of their WWs, which move 8, are on their rear two ranks, one ghoul is marked and the other down. I feel comfortable doing that and I can always backpedal if needed. I fail a dodge with Bob against a Flesh Golem and end the turn. They blitz a Wight into my backfield and grab the ball. Their Ghoul dodges away from Remus and Varg. They bring back a lot of players to make a cage but eventually fail one of their many GFI’s and a flesh golem is stunned.

On the ball, they have a Flesh Golem, Zombie, WW and Ghoul, plus a WW holding it. Their Fleshie falling has given Remus a two die blitz on the ball from behind. I stand up Bob and push him to their Wight. I use La Raa to stun their Wight and Spitter II drops their Ghoul on the flank. Franz drops a Zombie to free up some of my guys. Karl stuns a Zombie too. I move my men forward center towards the ball and to cage screen. In comes Gaggle and Quibex, Varg and Toro. I leave Taurus unmoved, in case he needs to move in after Remus’s blitz. Okay, here comes the blitz. It is successful, and we do not follow up. (It would put me in the center of four bad guys.). The ball hits their rear WW and a failed grab moves it outside of their circle. Only their downed WW and their up WW are adjacent. In comes Taurus. Now, I have two options –

1) Leave Taurus on the ball and force them to come in and blitz him off. They can do that – they have WWs and Flesh Golems and all near by. Taurus does have block.
2) Try to pick up the ball and dodge out. This requires a 5 on a d6 and then a 4 on a d6 with no dodge.

I just leave him on the ball and call it a round.

A WW moves in and Ghoul follows. They blitz in the Zombie now that two of them have based me. They stun Taurus. Their WW picks it up again. Their Ghoul on the left side stands and dodges away from my markers. It makes a GFI and joins a very big cage. They have five guys on the ball, but they left open a corner. If I mark the bottom WW to remove it as a supporter, I can get another 2 die blitz on the ball. I move Spitter II on both. I tighten my cage screen. Only Toro has the direction to get there. I move in La Raa as part of the screen and leave Remus available to jump in there after the blitz. Okay, here we go. I get two arrows and reroll. The ball is free and I’m stuck next to this WW but supported by Spitter II. The ball falls free by La Raa and our downed Taurus. It’s also next to their Zombie and their downed WW. I move Remus around the back of their Cage and pass the turn.

They move a Ghoul by the ball and La Raa. Their Wight fails a dodge to move in, and that ends their turn abruptly. Let’s look. They pushed Spitter II onto the ball. He can 2 die tackle their Zombie, Taurus rises to give La Raa a two die tackle on their Ghoul and I have the ball with just my players on it. That’s a plan. Their Zombie is tackled and Spitter II moves in. La Raa pushes their Ghoul back and follows. Toro takes a two die block on their WW. He takes a double block and puts the WW down on the spot without going down himself (block). Here’s the issue. I have no agility three people anywhere in the area. I move in Gaggle to the ball. Here’s my plan. I blitz Remus on the ghoul that was just pushes back, and then grab the ball with him Franz stuns a Zombie to free Karl to move in and help. Okay, here we go. Remus stuns the ghoul, so the first part is done. He fails the pick up, I reroll, and he fails it again. The ball falls to La Raa who grab sit and has little support on the end. They stand a lot of players and move in a Wight to base La Raa. They dodge a ghoul three times to get him on the ball and they are blitzing a Flesh Golem. They push back Taurus and get him on the ball too to prevent me from handing it off and running it in. Gaggle takes a two die block on their Ghoul and pushes it back. Toro takes a two die block to drop a WW> I have to clear out enough to get a two die block to free my guy on the Flesh Golem. Spitter II takes a two die block on a WW but gets skull and double skull. He has no block and I have no rr so I am forced to take it and end my turn early.

A wight moves into a scoring position. They tackle the ball carrier and pick it up with a ghoul. They get several tackles in. I stand my guys off and look around. Taurus takes a two die block on their Wight and pushes it back and gets on their Ghoul. La Raa rises and blitzes the ball carrier, putting the Ghoul down and follows, basing the wight. The ball drops to next to the sideline and by Gaggle and their now stunned ghoul. Toro drops a WW to free Karl. Karl runs next to the ball. Plan, dodge away Remus, grab ball. Here we go. Dodge fails.

They stand some people up, move a person in position and they fail a dodge so it comes right back to me. Plan, La Raa 2 die tackles their Wight, and clears it out, Remus gets up and grabs the ball and moves into a defensive place and I surround him. The plan success and La Raa has stunned the Wight with Claw. Remus fails to pick up the ball and it drops to in front of him. This is their last turn of the half. They make a dodge, stand up, blitz Varg, and otherwise are annoying. Two one die blocks free up the back side from my two Nurgle Warriors there and a WW runs around. They have a ghoul on the ball. My scoring opportunity is simple. Get him off, pick up the ball, and run it in. I need a clear path. A WW is in my way further down. First things first. Tackle on the Ghoul fails, we try again. We roll a double skull, end of half.

We got unlucky in that half so many times with simple ball pick ups, but we prevented them from scoring on their half. Here we go.

We have a riot and everybody loses a turn. The ball lands right by Taurus. La Raa tries to blitz a ghoul but can’t put him down. We only get one tackle, Karl, puts down a Flesh Golem on the line and rings his bell. I have moved everyone and try to pick up the ball. Good job Taurus. We pass the turn. They miss a dodge with their Ghoul and it is stunned. Back to us very quickly.

I bring our cage down the stunned ghoul’s open right flank. Bob puts down a Zombie allowing Gaggle to man mark a Wight. Varg bases their ghoul and zombie on the left flank. I want to tie them down. Spitter II blitzes their Wight on the right flank, gets double skull, rerolls, and just pushes him back but follows. I’m done, so I want to try and dodge Karl to join my cage. It works and he joins. We end the turn.

Here come the wolvies. They push back a Warrior on the line. The WW’s went from safety spots to base the cage. They dodge out a ghoul from marking. Quibex puts down a Zombie when they try to one die block him. Toro and Franz are on WWs, our ball carrier Taurus is fine. Gaggle stuns a zombie. That frees Bob. I move Bob to the WW Toro is on and tackle him. He’s down. Franz takes a double block to drop and ko their WW. Spitter II pushes their Wight back to the line. Taurus blitzes out, drops a Fleshie, and moves to a protected position. I have a decision to make. One die block by La Raa on a Ghoul or dodge and try to play offense? I try to dodge. He fails the dodge roll. I do not reroll. I want to save them.

Four players rises, and they try to dodge away with that ghoul who was stunned earlier on a dodge. It is stunned again. Our turn. Spitter II tackles their Wight into the crowd. Toro blitzes their other WW and put sit on the ground. I man mark it with Bob the Stinker. Gaggle tackles a Wight, Varg stuns a Zombie. We end the turn. They rise and dodge the WW from Bob and move into a scoring position. Hopeful? A ghoul runs up and a Zombie tackles La Raa with the support. They pass the turn. I make a double cage – another flank outside the first one. I want to pass the ball to Remus to give him the score, and I want to be prepared. Before, Toro blitzes a ghoul and tackles it. Varg tackles a Wight. Okay, ready. We hand the ball off and Remus gets his first score in his first game.

The weather changes to nice from rainy on the kickoff. A WW picks up the ball. They put down two people of mine on the LOS and move a Wight in for support. They abandoned the left flank, so I bring my guys in there. Varg bases that wight. La Raa blitzes a Zombie beside the ball carrier and puts him down with a stun. Quibex tackles a Fleshie. Taurus sneaks into their backfield. I position my players and pass the turn. A ghoul makes a dodge on a blitz on La Raa and fails, getting double down and both are standing since they both have block. They break my line when they knock out Bob. Then they pass the turn. This is my last turn. I try to make all of the tackles I can and keep my players away from theirs, so they have few tackle opportunities next turn. A blitz on La Raa with a WW stuns him. That’s it!

We win 40k and a fan factor.

Game MVP is Spitter II

A boring game. Just one score, no casualties on either side – ho hum.

My next purchases are going to be rerolls. They cost 140k each.
