1934 FOOL-H Thread
File is up with the start of FA for this off-season.
One radical idea to stave off contraction would be to consider an experimental program that would let owners own a team in another league. You obviously couldn't trade between the two teams, but it's an idea that I think could be an interesting wrinkle on things. I do have a person interested in the Cardinals and I'll post in the FOOL thread over on OOTP to see if we can shake the trees, as it usually does get a few people over here (an increasingly number, as it turns out...) so maybe we won't even need to resort to extreme measures, just thought it'd be fun to spice things up a bit. |

I would rather only run one franchise, but would temporarily run another to keep up league competition. How many owners are we currently lacking? Is it possible to mix active AI owners, in terms of FA's etc. with human teams?

It's actually not as dire as I thought. Officially it's St. Louis, Cincy and Boston AL with Boston NL on hiatus. I put both Boston teams on AI vacation mode to save them for both owners.
So that's where we are, but I have someone interested in the Cards, so we'll see if he signs up.

History is set to be made in 1934.
44 year old "Shoeless" Joe Jackson is set to break Ty Cobb's untouchable hits record. Jackson's 6711 hits trails former teammate Cobb, 6829 hits, by just 118. Jackson, should have no trouble reaching that plateau. As a 43 year old regular, he hit .360, pounding out 244 hits. Jackson will reach the milestone with less at bat's then Cobb, as well as a higher batting average. Jackson's .380 lifetime average edges Cobbs .377 Cobb retired in 1930 at the age of 43. The FOOLH offensive record book is owned by 4 players. Joe Jackson, Ty Cobb, Babe Ruth, and Billy Hamilton(who?, he only played 2 seasons in FOOLH at the turn of the century)

Wow, 45 year old Joe Jackson hits .359!! 250 hits, missing the league lead by 4. I don't think he can retire with this kind of season.
