The only celebrity I've seen near a plane was Franco Harris (who was mentioned years ago earlier in this thread). He had just arrived in Pittsburgh on the same plane that I was leaving on. The most interesting thing about that (to me, anyway) is that there is a life-size statue of Franco Harris making the Immaculate Reception in the Pittsburgh airport. You have to walk past that statue to get into or out of the terminal, so it must've been quite a sight for anyone who saw him near the statue as he was leaving.

Didn't get to say hi, but I had Hugh Jackman on the plane today from Newark to Detroit.

Nice , I get it from my wife too, for saying I put gas on the car too. I think it's a regional thing.

My wife constantly mixes up "In" and "On" but I always assumed it was because she was first a Spanish speaker and English is a second language for her. (Just to be clear, she is fluent in English and probably speaks it better than I do, just mixes up In and On all of the time)

As a kid I once flew a SF to DC plane with Joe Theisman. What's funny is, my uncle, who was a huge Giants fan, was picking me up at the airport. This was back when you could wait at the gate for people to come off the plane, and he said it took every ounce of will in his body to not yell out "Look out for Lawrence Taylor!"

Actually, I know Piney from Sons of Anarchy.

So I'm at LGA yesterday and I'm doing pilot stuff up front with my headset on and talking to ATC and notice that some woman (I assume ground personnel at this point because I'm busy) and I go back to work. Then I get a tap, tap, tap on my shoulder, and a "Hey, Hey", and I proceed to turn around and give this woman a horrible, "why the fuck are you bothering me look" and ignore here. She then proceeds to say, "Hi, it's Liza." And I'm like uhhh, ok, casue I have no idea who she is at this point. So I realize she is still talking to me and she says, "Liza Minnelli". That got my attention, lol, and I proceeded to shake her hand. So yeah, I was rude to Liza Minnelli. The guy I was flying with just laughed because he was just watching all this unfold and he said the look on my face was priceless.

I didn't recognize her because she looked like this:

Not this, which is how I remember her:

We were taking her to Richmond, Va last night. I guess she had a show in Newport tonight, anyway she wanted to ask if there was any way we could go easy on the descent cause her ears cause her a lot of pain. She was very nice to the whole crew, and very thankful afterward.

I met a bunch of famous Golfers, including Tiger, Phil, etc...because I have a second cousin PGA pro.

Phil is a pool shark, and yes I found that out the hard way. Bastard. Oh, I also had thanksgiving dinner with Phil, his wife, Mark Calcc, my cousin, and my family. I forget the year...I do remember Barry Sanders breaking off a big run that day, so it was a while ago.

I'm sorry...that's what this thread was ultimately turning into, right?

This man will be somewhat happy that today's game was postponed until tomorrow because he was crabby that he wasn't going to be in Detroit for the start of it. We were on time, so I don't know what his original plans were.

It wasn't on my plane per se, but on a flight I was about to get on. I had a nice long chat with Neil Rackers today. He was on his way to Cincy to kick for the Bengals tomorrow along with Billy Cundiff. Supposedly, Nugent got hurt today, and might be out for quite a while.

He talked about a bunch of stuff from the Super Bowl against the Steelers, to comments that he and Santonio Holmes exchanged later on, to playing for Mike Brown, to Kurt Warner, special needs kids and foundations and his bar fight in Covington when he was with the Bengals. We didn't end up talking all football, we got to talking about careers and my job and kids as well. We're both the same age, so I think that played a lot into the conversation too. I'd much rather chat and have a handshake with a guy, then chase someone around for autographs and photos.

Heh, these kickers really must get to know each other fairly well, as it's always the same guys who try out every time a kicker gets cut or injured.

(and they've all been through Washington)

As I'm preparing to get on my flight from Dayton to San Francisco this morning, I look up and see a face I recognize but couldn't quite place. I'm staring at the guy, and he kinda gives me the "what are you looking at" look. It takes a second, then I realize it's Minnesota basketball coach Tubby Smith. I look at his carry-on, and sure enough it's got a maroon and gold name tag on it that says "Tubby Smith". Me in my Ohio St. T-shirt was just getting ready to say something as he is 7 feet from me, but then he turns around and boards a plane to Minneapolis through his gate. Just missed him!

Must've been checking out recruits last night or something.
