Sycamore Had An Earthquake
Well we had ourselves a little earthquake early this morning. Granted i would have slept through it had my ultra sensitive wife not sat up in bad and said "what the hell is that?" I of course rolled over and told her she just had a dream and should go back to sleep. Lo and behold we get a call from her mom about 5:30 asking if everyone is okay from the earthquake, oops. It was only a 4.3 but there are some that felt the house shake and pictures fall, and i felt nothing. Man i missed it.

I sorta dozed through it, but definitely felt it.
They've moved the epicenter a few times though. I think the current report puts it a bit SW of Elgin. |

So is the new thing on FOFC that is you have act of nature X where you live and comment on it that people who live where act of nature X is far more severe and they have grown accustomed to it they mock you?

Yes. For instance, if it rains here for a couple hours and I post about it, I fully expect you to mock me. |

I can say I'm honestly shocked. I never would have expected there would be an earthquake in Sycamore! Mainly because I don't know where it is.

I still remember a couple of years ago when the earthquake was in Southern Illinois. It was around 3 or 4 AM and we were all drinking and playing cards. We all felt the room shake, and just kind of looked at each other like what the hell, are we really this drunk?

I was amazed. I live in the neighboring city and my wife told me this morning that she woke up to the bed shaking and our son woke up too. Me, I slept through it.
As a teacher, I had been hoping for a snow day. I now realize that if snow, wind, ice, and an earthquake can't get me a snow day, then I'm supposed to be here. |

Now understand that an earthquake in Sycamore, Illinois is kinda like 3 inches of snow in Anaheim. To us in Sycamore, three inches is nothing but for someone in Anaheim that would be a big deal.

I slept right through the damn thing. Only knew about it because everyone was commenting on their facebook statuses regarding it.

Same here. I guess I should watch the news more. Maybe I would have heard it on the radio during my drive in, but I took the CTA to work today. |

It's crazy how different places react differently, but I understand. Where I live, or at least about 40 miles from where I live, we get at least one 3.0 - 4.0 a day, every day. crazy. Thats what happens when you live next to an active volcano though... heh
