Peterson Hurls Shutout
Sunday, April 12th, 2122: According to Jim Peterson of the Hartford Harpooners, "There are three important elements in pitching success: location, location, and location." He told his pitching philosophy to sportswriters in the postgame interview after his 5-0 victory over Hammersmith.

He blanked them on a 2-hitter, allowed 4 walks and had 2 strikeouts. "I really felt comfortable the whole game," Peterson said.

His manager echoed his comments, saying, "He hit his spots time and time again."

Apex Goes Hitless Against Sentner
Wednesday, April 29th, 2122: "Don Sentner was just plain nasty on the mound today," according to his batterymate and quite a few of the Apex Assassins after the Noblesville hurler fired a 1-0 no-hitter.

The Assassins were powerless against him. "It is what we call in baseball 'filthy'... his stuff was just too much for us today," the losing manager told reporters after the game."

In an overpowering performance Sentner faced 30 batters in all and finish the game with 6 strikeouts and 1 walk.

"After the first couple of innings, I knew I had some good stuff going," Sentner said. "In the bullpen, it really wasn't that good, to be honest. But when I got out on the mound and flipped the switch, I had some pretty good stuff. I had a good fastball with control and I was able to throw my breaking ball and changeup for strikes."

This season Sentner has crafted a 2-3 mark with a 4.17 ERA in 36.2 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .253 against him and he has 29 strikeouts.

Sentner is the first no-hitter for a Noblesville pitcher since Maxence Accornero pitched one five years ago. (Also against Apex)

Cerda Picks up RL Monthly Pitching Honor
Friday, May 1st, 2122: When Jorge Cerda takes the hill, he's a good bet to nail down the victory for the Chico Rebels. At least that's the way it was in May.

He excelled with a 5-0 mark and 1.70 ERA in 5 starts. In 37 innings, he fanned 37 and walked 7.
That's why he was honored today as the Pitcher of the Month by the Republic League.

CL's Top Pitcher in April Is Wheeler
Friday, May 1st, 2122: Steve Wheeler's been around the league long enough to appreciate the honor he received today. After going 5-1 in April, the 28-year-old Apex hurler has been named Continental League Pitcher of the Month.

He fanned 30 in 48 innings, logged an ERA of 1.69 and allowed opponents to hit .165 against him.

Zambrano Wins RL Prize, Named Best Hitter in April
Friday, May 1st, 2122: Eduardo Zambrano battered Republic League pitchers all April and wound up taking home the Batter of the Month Award.

"I've been around Front Office Offseason League long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," the 33-year-old Zambrano told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I may not take the field and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month."

In 26 games, Zambrano hit .347 with 9 home runs, 24 RBIs and scored 23 runs.

Kishita Cops CL Batter of the Month Honors
Friday, May 1st, 2122: It was a successful month for Goro Kishita of Tokyo. He won the Continental League Best Batter Trophy for April.

Kishita batted .414 average, hit 6 home runs, drove in 19 runs, scored 18 times and compiled a .506 on-base percentage.

Top Republic League Newcomer Named
Friday, May 1st, 2122: It was an excellent month for Carlos Rijo. He really swung into action! The right fielder for the Chico Rebels was named April's best newcomer in the Republic League.

He captured the honor by hitting .422 with 27 hits, 3 home runs, 14 RBIs and 10 runs scored.

CL Selects Rookie Star of the Month
Friday, May 1st, 2122: Sosuke Yamada was toddling around on his tricycle when some of the guys he's playing against were in their prime, but the 25-year-old catcher definitely knows how to get to first, second or beyond. Today he was chosen April's Continental League Rookie of the Month for his remarkable month of hitting.

In 22 games Yamada batted .329 for Baltimore, slapping 27 hits in 82 at-bats with 2 home runs, drove in 9 runs and scored 7 times.

RL Starter of the Month Goes to Fletcher
Monday, June 1st, 2122: Veteran Tom Fletcher put together quite a successful stretch in May for the Chico Rebels, earning himself the Republic League Pitcher of the Month award.

Fletcher racked up a 5-0 record in 6 starts, posting a 2.44 ERA over 44.1 innings and striking out 40.

This season Fletcher has gone 7-3 with an ERA of 2.96, posting 75 strikeouts in 85 innings.

May's Starter of the Month Goes to Harper
Monday, June 1st, 2122: Dave Harper nailed down May's Continental League Pitcher of the Month award today, adding pressure on Brooklyn to get a deal done before the 34-year-old becomes a free agent.

Harper seems unfazed by the talk. "We get a deal done or we don't," he told reporters, "I'm not worrying about next year. Worrying about next year isn't what wins awards, you know?"

He fashioned a 4-0 record, reeled off 30 strikeouts, worked 38 innings and held batters to a .272 average for the month as he posted a 2.84 ERA.

His record this year is 6-4 in 13 starts and Harper has a 2.78 ERA.

RL Batter of the Month Honors to Zambrano
Monday, June 1st, 2122: When guys like Los Angeles's Eduardo Zambrano win Batter of the Month awards, it just makes you feel good. In a productive May, the longtime Republic League veteran toyed with opposing pitchers all month long, collecting 48 hits in 108 at-bats.

The veteran first baseman hit for a .444 batting average and collected 7 home runs, 33 RBIs and 27 runs scored.

This season Zambrano has hit at a .397 clip with 57 RBIs, 16 home runs and 50 runs scored. He has played in 52 games.

May's Best Batter Announced
Monday, June 1st, 2122: His solid numbers speak for themselves. That's why Ricardo Marín of the Brooklyn Brownstones was named the Continental League's best batter in May.

The Brooklyn second baseman starred with a .450 batting average, no home runs and 11 RBIs.

In his stats this season, Marín has posted a batting average of .362 with 67 hits in 185 at-bats, no home runs and 14 RBIs. He has also scored 31 runs, walked 32 times and compiled a .478 OBP.

Boniface Selected RL's #1 Newcomer
Monday, June 1st, 2122: Thomas Boniface is beginning to make a name for himself and he did it by posting a 4-0 record and a 3.51 ERA in May. For his spectacular mound performance last month he has been named BNN's Rookie of the Month in the Republic League.

The 25-year-old newcomer isn't at all intimidated by his lack of experience, at least not outwardly. In fact, by the way he has pitched beyond his years, you could easily mistake him for a veteran.

In 5 starts for the Bruins Boniface has struck out 15 batters in 33.1 innings, holding opposing hitters to a batting average of .244 during his hot streak.

This year Boniface has a 5-1 record and a 4.09 ERA.

Continental League Names Rookie of Month
Monday, June 1st, 2122: Brock Kesterton earned May's Rookie of the Month honors in the Continental League for last month's performance. The boyish Apex first baseman might be wet behind the ears, but he's proving that he has what it takes to play at this level.

Kesterton hit .455 with 2 home runs, 5 RBIs and 7 runs scored this past month on his way to winning the award.

Posting a .361 batting average to date, Kesterton has 6 home runs and 12 RBIs.

Féliz Superb Against Halifax
Monday, June 22nd, 2122: The Winter Wolves manager was philosophical after his team was shut out by the Noblesville Millers 5-0.

"It was just one of those games, shake it off and do better next time," he said.

Ángel Féliz blanked them on 2 hits with 4 walks and 10 strikeouts.

"I kept them off balance. I could tell a lot of them were late on fastballs. They were fouling them off. Once you see that, it sets them up for other pitches," Féliz said.

"I set them up pretty good, where if they chased one breaking ball, they were going to chase another one."

In 14 starts this year Féliz has crafted a 3-7 record and a 4.96 ERA.

Ransley Collects RL Pitching Award
Wednesday, July 1st, 2122: Los Angeles's Chris Ransley solidified his position as a fine reliever, claiming the Republic League Pitcher of the Month award for June.

Coming in from the bullpen 13 times he accumulated 2 saves and 16 strikeouts in 17.2 innings. He had a good month with a 5-0 record and a 2.04 ERA.

Cyclones Gou Chosen June's Best in CL

Wednesday, July 1st, 2122: Despite the number of years he's been in the league, Qin-shu Gou still gets excited when he puts together a quality stretch like he had in June. The 29-year-old starter for Tokyo was named Continental League Pitcher of the Month earlier today.

He collected 4 wins and no losses with 24 strikeouts in his 6 starts, putting up a fine 3.38 ERA in 37.1 innings of work.

O'Slattery Takes Best Bat Trophy in June
Wednesday, July 1st, 2122: There's nothing like putting up good, solid numbers in the last year of your contract. Today P.J. O'Slattery helped his contract negotiations by nabbing June's Republic League Batter of the Month honors.

The Colorado designated hitter put together a .297 batting average with 11 home runs, 25 RBIs and 16 runs scored.

Someone will surely be opening up the vault this offseason if O'Slattery continues at this brisk pace.

So far this year, O'Slattery is batting .259 with 19 home runs and 56 RBIs.

Schneider of Tokyo CL Batter of the Month
Wednesday, July 1st, 2122: Alexander Schneider is in the final year of his contract with Tokyo and today added a timely piece of hardware to his trophy case. Playing in 27 games in June the 32-year-old left fielder ripped Continental League pitchers for a .408 batting average, nabbing him the Batter of the Month award.

He also rang up 6 home runs, 29 RBIs and 23 runs scored.

If Schneider keeps up this pace, he'll cost someone a lot of money.

Schneider is currently batting .331 with 11 home runs and 65 RBIs.

FOOL News: The All-Star Game Rosters Have Been Announced
Friday, July 10th, 2122: Nothing is for certain about the 2122 Front Office Offseason League All-Star Game. It may be dominated by top-notch pitching performances. Or it could turn into a home run derby. Who knows? Pitch by pitch, inning by inning, the game could feature a little of both -- six strikeouts in a row by a nasty southpaw -- or a 3-homer day for some superstar slugger -- plus great catches, thrills, chills and spills -- all the great and the unexpected things that can happen in a baseball game.

This year, the Continental League will be represented by these All-Star performers:

Pérez Wins Best RL Pitcher
Tuesday, September 1st, 2122: This month when the Hartford manager wrote the name "Pérez" on the lineup card, he was pretty confident that he would get a good start out of him. Outing after outing in August Pepe Pérez took command and usually got the win.

He dominated with a 4-0 mark and 1.85 ERA in 5 starts, piling up 39 innings and 33 strikeouts and holding opposing teams to a .191 average.

For his superb performance Pérez was named the Republic League Pitcher of the Month by the baseball writers.

So far this season Pérez has compiled a 14-6 record with a 2.95 ERA.

Gómez Voted Best CL Pitcher in August
Tuesday, September 1st, 2122: Whether Mario Gómez stays in Apex beyond this season remains to be seen, but while he's here he's making the most of it. In August the 31-year-old certainly pulled out all the stops by winning the Continental League Pitcher of the Month award.

He put up some fancy numbers with a 4-0 record and and an ERA of 2.29. In 39.1 innings he struck out 36, surrendered 36 hits, 4 walks and proved to be a solid performer in 6 starts last month.

In 26 starts this season Gómez has notched a 10-5 record and a 3.11 ERA.

Republic League Announces August's Best Batter
Tuesday, September 1st, 2122: Gregorio Guerrero of the Harpooners hit .324 in August with 11 home runs, 24 RBIs and 20 runs scored to capture a majority of votes for the Republic League Batter of the Month trophy.

The 32-year-old is in the last year of his contract and will undoubtedly use these numbers to try and bring in a huge pay raise.

This year Guerrero has hit at a .293 pace and produced 100 RBIs, 38 home runs and scored 77 runs.

Phillips Earns August's Top Batter Prize in CL
Tuesday, September 1st, 2122: Prospective free agents love to have hot streaks and Jerry Phillips is no exception. The Tokyo right fielder capped off a fine month by hauling in Batter of the Month honors in the Continental League.

In August Phillips hit .311 with 8 home runs, 34 RBIs and 22 runs scored.

Looking at his present stats, Phillips has compiled a .282 batting average in 121 games with a .332 on-base percentage, while hitting 21 home runs and driving in 75 runs.

Hartford's Rivera RL Rookie of Month
Tuesday, September 1st, 2122: Jorge Rivera sure isn't playing like the rookie he is. The 23-year-old first baseman for Hartford is rapping the ball like a seasoned veteran in the Republic League and today he took home the Rookie of the Month Award for his effort.

In August, Rivera compiled a .318 batting average. He drove in 11 runs, hit 3 home runs and scored 11 times.

For the season Rivera has hit .301 with 13 home runs and 50 RBIs. He has played in 107 games and scored 45 times.

CL Best Rookie Award Announced
Tuesday, September 1st, 2122: Sosuke Yamada is still a bit shy, but then, who could blame the newest Continental League Rookie of the Month honoree? He hasn't been around the league long enough to fully know the ropes yet, despite the fact that he's putting up veteran-like numbers.

In August the Baltimore hitter tagged opposing pitching for a .329 average with 27 hits, 3 home runs and 19 RBIs.

This season Yamada is swinging the bat at a .245 rate with 102 hits in 416 at-bats. To date he has hit 11 home runs, scored 49 runs and driven in 65.
