FM: Belluno....Yr. 4 - The Season of Change
Welcome to the 4th season of my Belluno dynasty. Belluno is a small club in Italy's Serie C2/A.
Year one can be found here. Year two can be found here. Year three can be found here. 2006 World Cup can be found here. Season 1: We finished 11th as we went 11-11-12. 44 pts. (-2 G.D.) Season 2: We finished 8th as we went 13-10-11. 49 pts. (+10 G.D.) Season 3: We finished 2nd as we went 17-12-5. 63 pts. (+34 G.D.) Last year was a very exciting time for Belluno and its supporters. Not only did we put the ball in the net a record amount of times but we also WON PROMOTION!!! That's right. This will be my first season in Serie C1/A. However, not everything at Polisportivo is going as planned. The talent that got me to this level are demanding pay raises and they are asking for more than I can offer. With that said, Belluno will have a big hill to climb to be able to blend together a new group of player's while trying to avoid relegation. Current Financial Situation: -$603K but we did make a $321k profit so it is not as bad as it may seem.

The board has invested $56k. We get a horrible new sponsorship deal. We are only getting $22.25k per year for the next 3 years. Our previous deal was for $128k a season. Didn't I just promote a level???? Padrin left a memo on my desk that the transfer budget for this season will be $90k. Once again, I get to keep 15% of all transfer revenue. June 25, 2007 We finalize the tansfer for Polar's Jakub Zmyslony for $6k. June 30, 2007 Salvatroe Masiello has been voted as the Fan's Player of the Year for the club. No surprise here as he dominated the competition last season. Our U-20 squad has two players that have been recently promoted form our academy: (M L) Francesco Castelli and (S C) Roberto Marchisio. Ok, I'm tired of getting left sided midfielders. I want a little variety please. Marchisio looks like he might be able to turn into a promising player.

July Update
The Belluno directors are very pleased with my performance as manager. They are concerned with the club's long term financial future. The board expects us to stay clear of relegation from Serie C1/A. The Belluno supporters are very pleased with the progress the club has been making. The supporters are in full support of my management of the club. The supporters also expect us to stay clear of relegation. All I can say, is that I will do whatever it takes to stay in Serie C1/A.

I get word that Pro Vercelli is in financial crisis and that they are willing to consider any reasonable offer for any of their players. July 3, 2007 Luca Tomasig has accepted by offer to extend his contract. He took a $50/wk paycut down to $700/wk. I make an offer to loan (GK) Marco Schianchi of Parma. He's only making $650/wk and I offer to pay 100% of it. July 4, 2007 I get 2 more bids for Ferraro and both are worth $80k. I accept the offers from Gela and Fermana. I get a bid for Vitolo worth $550k and I counter with an offer of $650k. July 6, 2007 It's Leandro Rinaudo's turn to ask for a big raise. He wants $4200/wk which I can not offer. He's on the TL now for $150k as he is valued at $110k.

I remain VERY busy this offseason. A lot more than last as I look to sign 17 yo. (S C) Riccardo Di Pietro. Details $1100/wk - He wanted $1000/wk - $100 goal bonus - $50 assist bonus - 15% yearly increase - I add a $4k signing bonus. I also have looked into loaning a striker or two to replace Vitolo and Makaveev. Speaking of Vitolo, Los Charros have offered $650k and Cremonese have offered to co-own him for $380k. I accept both to see what Vitolo decides. July 7, 2007 Daniele Tormen has joined Excelsior on a transfer for $48k but we only get 50% of that because the previous manager put a stupid clause in the contract. July 8, 2007 The board has invested $280k. We now sit at -$342k. I get 5 bids for Rinaudo and I counter by raising it up to $180k. July 9, 2007 Aleksandar Makaveev has signed with CSKA (Sofia). They will be paying $1.4M for this transfer. I'm sad to see this talented youngster go. Torino have inquired about Salvatore Masiello. I tell them that if they pay me $3M I will gladly send him over. He is valued at $1.85M.

We get a great free transfer in youngster, Riccardo Di Pietro. The 17 yo. from Frosinone has agreed to come play for me and he will start up front. Salvatore Ferraro has decided to sign with Fermana. They will pay us $80k. Nocerina and Padova offer $180k for Rinaudo. I accept both offers. July 11, 2007 Well, Torino agreed to pay $3M and I accept. Salvatore Masiello is no longer a member of Belluno and I go and search for a replacement. I make a $52k offer for Maycoll Canizalez who is playing for FC Dallas right now, but he is valued at $340k. July 13, 2007 I accept a bid from Cambuur that will eventually be worth $960k for Vitolo. I make a $200k bid for (GK) Alfonso De Lucia. He is valued at $1.3M and Parma was asking for $280k. July 14, 2007 FC Dallas accept my offer for Maycoll Canizalez. I offer the left winger a contract. Details $600/wk - $30 assist bonus - $420k min. release clause I approach to sign Sampdoria's Ivan Artipoli. Details $1000/wk - $32k signing bonus - up from $28k - $2.2M min. release clause - 10% yearly increase July 15, 2007 Rinaudo has agreed to join Nocerina and they will pay us $180k for the transfer. Vitolo is staying in Belluno this year, but he is now co-owned with Cremonese. They paid us $380k in the deal. My wage budget has gone up from $20k to $32,500.  (GK) Alfonso De Lucia went on loan to Pro Sesto, but I make an offer to buy him for $240k. July 22, 2007 Parma have accepted my bid for De Lucia. I offer him a contract. Details $2200/wk - $4k signing bonus - $100 clean sheet bonus - 15% yearly increase - I remove the min. release clause July 24, 2007 De Lucia accepts my offer and he joins the club and for the first time that I can remember his ratings are much worse than what my scout has told me. Usually, he just over-values players, but this time he way over estimated his talent. Tomasig looks to be the better player right now. July 25, 2007 The draw for the Serie C Cup was today. I am described as a media-friendly boss and here is my Profile:
Asst. Manager Espinoza is a 32 yo. from Mexico. He likes to play a 4-3-3 and he likes an adventurous style of play. He is very good with youngsters and his coaching skills are above average all around. He is also very good at judging player potential. Coach Lenisa is 47. He will be our GK coach. He is a 4-4-2 guy who likes to play an attacking style. He will also be key to evaluating talent. Coach Caser is 55. He will be our outfield coach. He also likes to play the 4-4-2, but he has told me that he would prefer to sit back. He is a good motivator as well. Are physios are both good at their jobs. Stracuzzi is 31 and Pescosta is 45. Graziano is our lone scout at the moment. He is 56 and he works well with youngsters. He is above average at judging ability but not so good at judging potential. I hope that having 2 Asst. managers does not create any conflicts. I am currently looking for another scout as well.

KEY U-20 PLAYERS
(GK) Samuele Tramontano - 20 yo. who has not developed and will likely not be around for long. Tramontano is making $240/wk and is signed until 7/31/08. Value - $4k (up $2k) (M L) Daniele Amoroso - 19 yo. who I am still trying to train to move to the right side. He has good physical skills but his technical skills have not developed enough. He may see some action with the first team. Amoroso is making $550/wk and is signed until 7/31/09. Value - $12k (no change) (M L) Fabrizio Antoniolli - 18 yo. who was promoted from our academy in '06. He is a decent physical skill set which includes a very high jumping ability. He has a good work rate and is a team player. His technical skills are lacking. Antoniolli is making $70/wk and is signed until 7/31/10. Value - $4k (M L) Francesco Castelli - 18 yo. who was promoted from our academy this offseason. He has a nice pysical skill set and his training program is off to a good start. Antoniolli is making $150/wk and is signed until 5/18/08. Value - $2k (M C) Sebastiano Solagna - 20 yo. who is physically gifted, but he has not translated that to the rest of his game. He is running out of time to show me that he can develop his mental and technical skills. Solagna is making $480/wk and is signed until 7/31/09. The Belluno directors are very pleased with my performance as manager. They are happy with the club's current financial status. The board expects us to stay clear of relegation from Serie C1/A. Serie C1/A media predictions: Ancona Triestina Venezia Serie C1/A Teams: Acireale finished in 15th last season. They were 8-14-14 with a -9 G.D. Ancona finished in 5th last season. They were 15-13-8 with a +23 G.D. They won Serie C2/B back in '06. Carrarese won Serie C2/B last season. Castelnuovo finished in 12th last year with a 10-10-16 record and a -10 G.D. Cesena demoted from Serie B in '05 and have been in Serie C1/A since. Last year they came in 2nd with a 21-9-6 record and a +25 G.D. Cremonese is a Serie B demotee. Pietro De Giorgio has suffered a lengthy injury in training today. He will miss the next 5 months with a fractured skull. This sucks for us because the right wing is the posistion where we have the least amoung of depth. Teodor Banev has been called up for the Bulgaria U-21 match against Spain's U-21 squad.

Teodor Banev made his international debut with Bulgaria's U-21 squad today. His country lost 1-3 to Spain and Banev came on in the 75'. He completed 4/6 passes and committed 2 fouls to earn a 6. October 6, 2007 Samuel Fuzik got his 5th cap today and his first international start.  However, he was subbed at the half because he had only earned a 6 in the first 45 minutes of play. He completed 10/12 passes (2 key) and he made 4 runs in Slovakia's 2-0 win over San Marino in the Euro Championship Qualifier.October 9, 2007 Teodor Banev got his 2nd cap with Bulgaria's U-21 squad today in their 0-2 loss to Slovakia. He came in as a halftime substitute and did well earning a 7. He completed 12/19 passes, won 5/6 tackles, won 4/6 headers and made 8 interceptions. October 10, 2007 Samuel Fuzik got his 6th cap today for Slovakia. He came on in the 72' of their 3-2 victory over Bulgaria. The Belluno directors are delighted with my performance as manager. They are happy with the club's current financial status. The board expects us to stay clear of relegation from Serie C1/A. The Belluno supporters are delighted with the progress the club has been making. The supporters are in full support of my management of the club. The supporters also expect us to stay clear of relegation. The only good thing I can take away from last month is that we played 5 of the top 8 teams in the series. However, it doesn't get any easier as we play 2 more of the top 8 in our next matches.
