I won the game 35-8.

It became tedious once I got ahead because they did nothing on offense even though it appears they got close to 200 yards rushing.

Animations were awkward and repetitive, even without fraps running, in fact it appeared to my naked eye to be the same farged up animotion no both ways.

Ive made this a 20 game schedule, good for me, I get 19 more games of this.

I'd have to look at NFL stats, but 21 fumbles feels right.

Where does one even begin? 191 total offensive plays? 500 combined yards for the two teams in those 191 plays, an amazing 2.61 yards per play? 114 running plays in one game? Completion percentage under 20%? 21 fumbles? 23 total first downs? Somehow a team managed to score 35 points in that mess? Punts averaging under 32 yards an attempt?

Maximum "football" indeed....

Are there even fanboys left who actually try to defend this game?

I didnt think there was a way to lower my impression of this game...I now realize I was wrong.

On the bright side...nice to see KFC & Coors making their way to Russian stadiums.

I'm excited about Cabla. Gonna start a fan club and nickname him Fabla Cabla, he of the golden arm.

Where did he go to college?

Is he a Canadian import?

Other games were all simmed. All teams now have 1 of 4 user made 11 man playbooks, so it's possible the completely effed up stats are because of the playbooks and not the game. Entirely possible.

I've watched the highlights and I'm wondering what a very fast punter might do for your team. It seems that if your punter is lined up back far enough he might be able to get the angle to the sideline on just about anyone. Thoughts? Wait, can you fake punt in this game?

Damn....if this is the state of the game after the patch, can you imagine how the game was at its initial release? Thank you for this great dynasty.

Week 2, Washington Americans vs Starfleet Trekkies

Im on to week 2, hosting the Starfleet Trekkies who got demolished in week 1 so i'm not really worried.

Things start off grandiosly as we trade fumbles on the first 3 possesions.

I dominate the field position but my plan of attempting many passes in the hopes of completing 1 is not working so well. The 2 teams are a combined 1-27 for passing and i've forced 7 first quarter fumbles.

I got to their 4 but went for it on 4th and 1 and was stopped.

At the start of the 2nd quarter i score a TD, whopee.

I get cocky and go for it on 4th and 1 from midfield. They stop me and drive for a TD to tie.

Then the play to end all plays. They complete a 15 year pass, and the dude breaks off a 45 yard run to the end zone. You almost never see that im football. MAXIMUM FOOTBALL.

A few anamolies i've seen in game. Kickoffs always go the same corner.
Punts routinely do the same thing. Whenever the punt is kicked away from the returner and it drops in the field, the whole wall of persuers stops about 5 yards away from it, some of them run in place and dont really stop. Once the dude picks up the ball then though all bets are off and the game of tackle football is back on like mad.

A few supersize glitches. I had it 3rd and 5 and went for a pass. The pass was behind the line of scrimmage and the big FUMBLE graphic came up, but nothing happened. It then went back to the playcalling screen and I had a first down. I'll take it, I guess.

Now the one that pissed me off. They have the ball at their own 35 with about 55 seconds left in the half, our defense is lined up in the "cause fumble" which i have renamed 80% of our defensive schemes to. We cause the fumble and recover. I'm thinking "nice, we can get a FG". I go the playcalling screen and pick a play, but when it returns to the field i notice that the clock is running, ticking, ticking, ticking. So i wanna hurry up and run this play, but my QB is just casualy suantering up to the line. He walks like he's holding in a brick, waves to the left, waves to the right, bends down with all swiftness of an 80 year old man trying to hold in his prunes and i can finaly hit the space bar to snap the ball. Pass goes incomplete but ive still got 20 seconds on the clock. I call a run and then call a timeout. I run the ball again and hit the timeout button, but nothing is happening (I still have 1 left), I keep hitting it, nothing happens. Finaly I hit the spacebar to try and get out of this static picture of looking at my player standing still and i'm taken to the playcalling screen with like 5 ticks left. I manicly call a run real quick so i can get back to the play screen and try and call a timeout, but alas time runs out. Except that no whistle blows and even though time has run out, I can still run this play. So i run a meager 1 yard gain as time expires and I go to the half down 14-7.

I am 4-34 passing in the first half. 11 combined fumbles.

This is down and dirty, win it in the trenches 1 yards and a cloud of dust or a fumble football. Skydog would love this game.

14-7 Trekkies lead at the half in a monumental surprise, so monu mental.

But how do the uniforms look? Do the Trekkies have the starfleet logo on their jerseys? Or the Vulcan salute?

Not the best shot, but you get the idea.

Oh the horror, we lost to the lowly Trekkies.

They got a FG to go up 17-7 and then we made our move, by forcing them to attempt a 41 yard FG. The attempt fell short and my guy scooped it up at 3 and ran it back 97 yards to make it a 17-14 game.

As the 4th quarter progressed I got an uneasy feeling, I wasn't able to complete a pass and the run game was not working well either, so I came up with a plan. Force them to have the ball around our 37-42 yard line and make them try a long FG.

I had the ball at my own 20 and punted on 2nd down. I went for it on 4th down from my own 48. I relaxed my defense to allow them into the forbidden zone. All this was for naught however as they kept fumbling it back, perhaps they were stealing signals from outer space and were on to me.

I finaly got a turnover deep in their territory but as I drove for the endzone.................I fumbled. What a wicked web this team of space explorers are building for me.

Eventually I got the opportunity to attempt my own 41 yard FG and tie the game but it fell short, luckily it rolled to the back of the endzone, giving my FG cover team ( ) enough time get down and throttle their return.

As the clock ticked under 5 minutes I had them were i wanted them. They with the ball on my 44. Then the AI kicked in. I had been using 7 and 8 men in the box on every play, so the ran a sweep and got a first down. "No problem", I thought to myself, i'll just use my 3 timeouts, at which point I learned that I, in fact, only had 3 timeouts for the whole game. Uh oh.

The final knife in my heart came when again I loaded the box and they ran a sweep, this time for something like a 30+ yard TD run to seal the deal on a 24-14 victory.

I'm so ashamed.

I'm figuring out some stuff with the playbooks. Theres an editor included with the game that allows you to open all the playbooks and import plays. Im sure if I get better plays the game will get better.

Would he have the speed of all our RB's but the negative speed of all our linemen? Is the IQ a total or is it cumulative? WHAT WOULD OF HAPPENED?

Listen, the game is horrid in reporducing an actual football game, but i'm having fun in much the way 1 has fun mindlessly playing tetris or some flash game. A better example would be like how you could beat up on TECMO bowl so you made house rules to keep it interesting. Except the game is making it's own house rules because it's unplayable.

On the bright side...nice to see KFC & Coors making their way to Russian stadiums.

I like to think that in the great war of 2026, the Russians captured Coors and KFC, and we just won them back.

I'm debating messing with my players in the editor but I need to give the game a chance. Maybe I can do something to improve the play. Although the thought of an 8 foot nose tackle would be sweet for kick blocking.

Ok. I know what I did wrong. I just extracted all the plays from the user created playbooks right into my "plays" folder. Turns out I need to extract them in their folders and then import them into a playbook.

So I created a new playbook and loaded a ton of offensive and defensive plays as well as a few extra special team plays. I'll assign this playbook to each team and see if we get anywhere.

Some notes.

1. I made a huge playbook full of tons of formations, Wishbone, Maryland I, I, Pro, Shotgun, Weak, Strong, Pro and all of their variations in the hopes that gameplay would improve, it didn't.

2. These playbooks also included variations on Special Teams formations such as fake punt runs, fake punt passes, punt formation tight & spread, etc.

3. There is also a Kick Return Short play that can be used on kickoffs, so I can now field kickoffs, unfortunately my opponent never once used this formation so while I got it's benefits, he did not.

4. The default punt play in the playbook always resulted in them returning it for a TD, 3 in the game I think. Essentialy their returner would always outrun my coverage. Punt Spread worked good as my guys weren't all bunched together.

5. After they got their first TD (on a returned FG or punt return, I forget which), they faked the extra point and went for a 2 point conversion. This would repeat itself a number of times on punts and FG's but not always. Their seemed to be no rhyme or reason as to why they would fake a punt, no matter if I changed up my coverage or their field position, sometimes they would punt, but more ofen than not it was a fake.

6. Sometimes the game would turn the ball over even if a team got a first down on a fake punt. One time I stopped them on a fake punt attempt from their own 25. I was very excited until the game then gave me the ball on my own 25.

7. The clock does not stop on a change of possesion.

8. Randomly after a score the receving team has the option of receving a kickoff or just starting at the 35 yard line. I'm not sure what ruleset this is from, Indoor Canadian?

9. I fumbled something like 4 times inside their 25 yard line, MAXIMIZING my excitement.

10. They completed 10 passes, all of them killers.

11. Their is nothing like being down 30 points with a quarter to go and having my QB saunter to the line and go thru his animations for a good 10-12 seconds before i can snap the ball.

12. Teams are supposed to have profiles. I've perused the MAXIMUM FOOTBALL boards but i don't understand what it is they do or how to integrate them or what. Maybe thats the missing piece.

13. I'm hooked on this game like a guy who has a smoking hot girlfriend who is both a dead lay and a skank with STD's. Everytime I look at her I wanna have sex with her, but then the sex is bad and my penis turns green. I oughta know better but then I see her in a sexy outfit and I wanna have sex with her again.

14. I might play a quick play game with one of the default teams but i'm pretty sure I overwrote some of the stock plays that came with the game so I don't know if that would be a fair assesment of the game.

I was Phoenix. Passes were completed. I don't know why. I set it up so that the rouge was in effect but live FG's were not, so all missed FG's would in effect be worth 1 point to the kicking team.

They had the ball on my 2 with 15 seconds left in the first half and stood at the line for all that time. The clock ticked down and the half ended.

Every FG attempt that went out of the end zone (Although how could that really happen since it's INDOORS) was counted as 1 point for the kicking team. If the ball dropped in the end zone it was just counted as a missed FG. Does that sound right?

The game at least felt more like football as passes were completable. Runs however never went anywhere, but thats what real indoor football is like right? Honest question cause I have no idea.

I know this is an obvious statement but it feels like there is a way to make the game work, you just have to find the right combination of players, field length, rules etc. And even though it's supposed to be customizable, any customization can create havoc.

I'm gonna find a way to make this game work yet.

lol. I decided to edit some of my players. I made Abraham Lincoln and Jesse Owens my WR's and gave them great hands and catching and upped most of their other attributes. Then I made George Washington my QB and upped all his essential skills. Also created a MAXED out all Kennedy backfield with John and Bobby as the backs and Teddy as the blocker.

I lead 33-1 halfway thru the first quarter. Not alot of dun.

Got home and decided to try out a 8 man league. Created the teams, did the draft and training camp, assigned all teams their playbooks (the default 8 man playbook that comes with the game). Only thing is, I want to play on a 100 yard field. Well when i try and play a game I get an error that the playbook is invalid.

Pretty sure the playbook is invalid because of lack of punts. Which makes me wonder why they couldn't have just done a 2nd 8 man playbook and added a punt play to it so people could play 8 man on a 100 or 110 yard field.

The game did let me start a quickplay game using teams from my created league. Have FG's set to "live" so that a missed FG pretty much becomes a punt. Only problem is that the default 8 man playbook has a limit on the leNgth of a FG attempt for an 8 man team (65 yards), so teams not in that area will always go for it on 4th down instead of kicking the FG.

Pretty much done with the game for now.

Shoot. I didn't read this until today. What an excellent decision I made to pass the game on to Desmond.

At some point, I think Desmond will have to pass this on so we can continue to add to the fellowship of the miserable.

1. Nice uniforms!

2. And the Sickle on the field!

3. Nice to see that the patch didn't take away our ability to make statistical jokes. Love that Australia actually lost the time of possession battle to Phillip Morris despite running 90 plays to the Marlboros' 31. Talk about efficiency. I am disappointed that the LTD stat seems to be fixed.

4. We should dupe these posts into the bigger MF thread.

Desmond, please continue!

This is the Maximumest Dynasty Ever!!!

Some thoughts on the video.

1. This game is so cutting edge...15 years ago.
2. Those players have some flexible ankles...watch closely as they get off the ground.
3. Defenders use the Force to knock down ball carriers. They get to within five years and BOOOM...the ball carrier looks like he runs into an invisible wall.
4. I think the fumble animations are perfectly MAXIMUM!!!

The tackled players reminded me of Portugese soccer players.

I'm gonna try and get back into this sometime this weekend. Honestly it's just so bad, and although it reads funny, it isn't really all that funny once you've incompleted your 30th pass of the game.

Although I do not endorse drug use I may have to see how this baby plays to when stoned.

I've thought about starting an indoor league so the completion percentage goes up, but then i can't run (theres like 2 runs in the indoor playbook).

I may try and fiddle with the QB's and the WR's in the league to increase their catching and throwing ability and see if that helps. Oh, and the RB's hands. The thing about the player editor that comes with the game is that you have to load the league, load the team, load the player, edit the player and then save, at which point you have to start the process all over again. Maximum.
