Not Just Football Betting Dynasty
So last week, I received an offer for a free $10 on sportsbook.com. I've never wagered on any sporting event so this is new territory for me.
This past Sunday I wagered that free money on a 4-team parlay:
Afterwards I looked back and thought this might be a fun dynasty to do. I had just hit my pokerroom bonus and decided to cash out that bonus and deposit it on sportsbook. My starting bankroll is $100 +15% bonus deposit which gives me $115 to play with. I have a 4-team parlay tomorrow: $10/91.21 Oregon St. @California (-16) Penn St @Michigan (under 44) UCLA (-$220) @Washington St. USC (-12) @Notre Dame On Sunday, I have a 5-team parlay: $10/158.98 Cincinnati @Tennesess (under 45) San Diego (-$130) @Oakland Carolina (+1.5) @Detroit New England (+3) @Denver Houston @Seattle (-$400)

Why only parlays? I know they pay well if they hit, but it seems to me it's easier to make money just betting individual games. Keep in mind my only sports betting experience was the last weekend I was in Vegas. I only bet on 4 games, btu I did very well fo myself. Just curious.

Primelord - I'm very green when it comes to sports betting, but I'm only betting $10 at a time. The only way I could double up on single bets would be to bet the underdog. I figure I could pick 4-5 games that I'm fairly confident in and make a nice profit. Hopefully, I prove myself right this weekend.
nfg - Basically in order for me to win the NCAA bet ($10 to win $91.21), I need all 4 teams to win. 1) I took Cal -16 pts. 2) In the PSU vs. Michigan game, I bet that both teams would combine for less than 44 pts. 3)In the UCLA game I bet UCLA would win straight up. In this case if I had done a normal bet on UCLA I would win $4.55 for my $10 bet. 4) I took USC -12 pts. Hope this makes sense to you.

Ehhh, not a good day. I can't believe that Cal did not only not cover but they lost out right. Late scores cost me in the UM/PSU game, but as a UM fan I can't be mad about the outcome. And UCLA's late comeback kept me from predicting 4 losers. I hope tomorrow my luck changes.

Was looking good after the first half of the CIN/TEN game. They only had 17 pts and then they erupted for 37 in the 2nd half. Thought for sure I had this game nailed with the Bengals up by 4 and a punt into the endzone with a litle over 2 minutes left.
I just placed two bets for the late games: Straight Wager: $10/15 NE (+$150) @DEN 3-team parlay: $10/68.36 San Diego (-1) @Oakland New England (+3) @Denver St. Louis @Indy (over 51) Current bankroll: $75

Well, 2 weekends all losers.
I think I learned my lesson today to not bank all my bets with the same team in it. I could have picked all my games correct, but since I picked NE in all 3 I would never have won anyways. I think I'm going to stay away from over/unders for now as well.

Wow, they got you and got you easy. Gave you $10 to play and now you have pumped in your own money after the fact. Good Luck.
Oh and the pay out on those 4 team parlays isn't very good.

I had some good hunches going into this week, but I got gunshy since I lost every bet the last two weeks. I was going to bet Northwestern and Auburn which would have turned me a nice profit. Oh well.
Here are my bets for this weekend:
I wish I would have bet my regular $10, but a win is a win at this point.
Oh yea, 2 for 2 this weekend so far. My boys in blue came through for me today. Too bad they've already lost a few games this season.
Can I go 3 for 3??? I hope Volek plays well tomorrow.... Current bankroll: $82.26

Once again so close..... Now on to today's wagers:
A horrible first half by Miami keeps this "lock" from paying off. If only the 2nd half Hurricanes played the first 30 minutes too, this would have been a good Saturday. (See next wager)
I know I said that I wanted to stay away from over/under wagers, but this seemed like a no-brainer with Georgia's very solid defense and their inept offense withouth Shockley.
Another O/U game that seemed too good to resist. Of course after one half I was thinking to myself that I had shot myself in the foot, but the UM defense played well after the half to win this wager. Current bankroll: $80.44

Here is the weekend recap:
On Friday night I was having a lot of issues with my internet connection and I was only able to place one bid. I picked Miami to win straight up.
So after that nice victory on Saturday night, I felt pretty good going into this weekend's NFL matchups. The only thing I was a little worried about was picking so many road teams.
This game seemed like an easy win and it was.
After losing to the Texans, I figured the Browns and their crappy offense would allow for a Titans victory. Instead, the Titans failed me again.
I thought for sure I was going to hit this parlay. San Diego should have blown out the Jets, the Panthers was an easy call especially with Simms at QB for the Bucs, the Cardinals can't figure out who their QB is and the Browns lost to the Texans. This would have been a nice payout.
Phew, thank you Dick Vermiel!!! Current bankroll: $130.98

Because of you, I signed up and lost $10 already! For tonight, I'm picking the Panthers straight-up and the Red Wings -1.5. Go team(s)!

Just so you know... don't include moneyline bets in parlays. It does skew your winnings a bit, but you can get straight parlay odds on point-line and over/under bets. Further, bet in even amounts "to-win" on straight bets. i.e. Bet to win $5, not wager $5. The percentages work in your favor if it's straight math.
Good luck! Regards, Chas

Not to highjack, but I won the Fresno State-Boise State game last night, picking Fresno to cover and the under (60.5 pts). Was my first win. After losing my first three, I decided to make my pick and then do the opposite - it worked.

Last weekend started off really rough and I was a Redskins stuff of Mike Alstott away from having a very good Sunday.
Wisconsin at home, bah....
I haven't really had a chance to see Colorado play this season, but I figured they would be able to beat Iowa St. I knew Texas would cover the spread by themselves and UCLA was going to use ASU as a bounceback game from their tough loss the week before.
It looked good for one half at least.
Mike Alstott - BOO!!!
Alstott cost me $24 on this wager.
What happened to the Chiefs? JP Losman?
I took this game because Indy had been rolling on offense recently and they were playing on turf.
THANK YOU McNABB. Current bankroll: $139.12

Nearly a perfect day and easily my best one so far. It took me a while to find NCAA games that I liked for today and I had a couple of close calls (Penn St. game). Current bankroll: $210.93

Big update:
- Bears defense is for real.
- Didn't expect it to be a shootout, but the result was still a winner.
- Blech....
- Went a little crazy with this wager, but I was wagering on games that I thought would all be locks especially since most games I wagered the money line.
- Two teams with no defense. Easy wager IMO.
- It's the Texans. Nuff said.
- I was a little hesitant at first, but I'm glad I went ahead and wagered on this one.
- An OT winner.
- How lucky was I with this one?! Two OT games that I needed a TD in both to win and I got it. Woot!
- Do I get anything for a triple loser?
- Another "lock". FSU is just horrible.
- Brady finds a lot of KC players wide open.
- I had a good feeling about my home team this weekend and after one half I was looking good...
- Almost pulled out my biggest win to date. How does Favre and the Pack not beat the weaponless Eagles?
- Va. Tech should have put up 42 by themselves.
- I wasn't lucky enough to have a 3rd team score an OT TD. Current bankroll: $249.89

- Damn! Indy IS that good.
- Yea, I know that I said I was going to stick to football, but this one was too good to pass up.
- Oops. A healthy DJ Shockley and the dawgs playing in the Georgia Dome should have sent off alarms in my head to bet the other side.
- This is the start of my beautiful NFL weekend.
- Thank you Mr. Barber!
- Indy's defense is too good for this game to go over 50. Current bankroll: $239.94 I have two parlays that I hit with tonight's game that will add another $187

A much overdue update:
- I can only wonder what might have happened in OT.
- Thought Seattle would score big and figured the Niners would be good for at least 9. Just barely won this wager.
- Bleh, a loss and a push made this parlay a loser.
-
- Another loser on the day and this time thanks to a missed XP. Grrrrrrrrr
- The Saints are horrible. Enough said.
- Yikes, do I get anything for picking almost all losers?
- Push.
- After I saw that the Titans were not going to hold their end of the bargain up early in the day, I decided to make another parlay with my 3 "locks". Of course, it was not meant to be.
- A new week and we have a winner. Phew.
- Another win. Woot.
- What went wrong in this game? Isn't this the same Titans team that barely made it past Houston the previous week?
- Winner!!!
- The Titans royally screwed me this week.
- Can somebody explain how the Ravens and Kyle Boeller pushed the over by themselves!!!!
- Lovie got smart and went to Grossman. I think I win this wager if he doesn't make that move. Current bankroll: $421.40

The losing streak begins and hits hard
For some of the older games I don't recall the exact reason or feeling I had when I placed the wager. I don't think I will wager on week 16 or 17 games next season. Just WAY too unpredictable.
- Note to self: Don't wager against KC at home.
- I still can't believe this one. The team that just beat down the Giants couldn't beat the Cowgirls.
- Like I said, week 16 is a bad week to wager.
- Freakin Panthers.
- No faith in the home team bites me in the ass.
- The Raiders only allowed 22 pts and Denver could only score 22 against the Raiders???
- Was getting huge odds on Indy and thought they would play hard for their coach who just lost his son just like the Giants did when Mara died.
- Can't even win on a college game.
- A loser by 0.5 pts. This becomes a recent recurring theme.
- A win. Yes, green in this post. Woot!!!
- Is week 16 over yet????
- Boise St. nearly killed me with their huge rally in the 4th quarter.
- The Canes really helped my cause and a Leaf in San Diego should have turned on a light bulb in my head.
- Speechless
- A Pac-10 team that won me a game.
- Two offensive teams in this bowl season not able to cover? Go figure.
- Too bad this game didn't end after the first half.
- Bucnh of losers.
- Another loss by 0.5 pts. How did this score not show up in Denver the week before?
- Have faith in the home team and you shall be rewarded.
- Didn't the Ravens just beat the Packers and Vikings fairly easily?
- Lose a home game to the Dolphins? Didn't know they were going to "throw" a game to play the Jags.
- Charlie Weis had a month to prepare and all he could do was score 20 pts. and let his defense get beat over and over and over again.
- You are playing a bowl game at home!!!!
- Thought this was an easy call.
- Two wins in a row.
- Would have been nice.
- Sweet! A triple loser
- Son of a ..... I had this game totally right and then it goes to triple OT and it goes over.
- Losing Carson on play #2 and I knew this bet was done.
- Easy win.
- Great, now Carolina shows up.
- The Skins are on a roll and there was no way Simms was going to win this game.
- Saturday was good, Sunday was bad.
- Prop bet.
- Another loss this time by a point. Current bankroll: $165.45

Ok, another overdue update.
- Unlike astrosfan, I knew Seattle was good. however, I thought the Redskins defense would be able to keep the game within the spread. I was wrong by a half a point. Ughh, that .5 pt has been killing me lately.
- The Pats game killed me. I put a lot of eggs in this basket and the Pats outplayed the Broncos all game. But Denver made the key takeaways to win the game.
- I still don't know why I put money on a Rex Grossman led team.
- Double loser.
- Triple loser. Where was the defense in the CHI/CAR game?
- Thought this was a lock. Guess I was wrong.
- College B-Ball is now in full swing and this game was screaming at me.
- Denver should have lost the weekend before.
- Seattle is the best NFC team and they were playing at home.
- I made two parlays because I knew one would win and I still ended up with a positive result.
- A little prop bet action.
- Duke came out firing and never looked back in this one.
- Almost bet the Cards straight up, but glad I played it safe. The O/U was 138 for this game and I regret not wagering on it because I knew it was going over.
- Both teams had the same conference record and Samford beat Murray St. earlier this season. Game wasn't close, but it would of paid nicely.
- Santa Clara is a bad team and San Diego was an easy choice. Current bankroll: $185.10

I like all those picks, except for maybe the under. I usually don't bet over/unders but if I had to bet it, I would take the under in that game.

Not a good night tonight.
I was all over the Niagra game. I must admit, I read astrofans thread and his wager moved me off of Portland. The Blazers have played well at home and Minnesota has been weak on the road, but I didn't go with my gut. As for the Lakers, they just didn't show up.

Phew. This was a close one. Creigton was down by 9 at the half and had to pull it out in OT.

More late game heroics. Austin Peay was down by 3 with 4 minutes to go and ended up winning by 7. Now I just need Kentucky to remember what they were doing in the 1st half.

Ok, no more 3 team wagers or half time bets since I suck at those. Current bankroll: $243.91
