No, the ball's not dead at first contact, because if you bat it backwards you need to stop its momentum.

Btw, other than the one bomb to Washington this game has been much slower & less offensively prolific than I thought it'd be because TCU is milking the clock. Though the pacing might just feel that way because the refs have had some long stoppages. (Also thank goodness the rumor Mike Gundy cut his mullet was false. That thing is glorious.)

edit to add: *up to the time I posted. Backup QB gets Pitt 20 yards in his first two plays in garbage time.

Was at the game, tons of GT fumbles, bad passes, but it was fun. The heat SUCKED. We had a take a few breaks to get the kids in the shade (they were happy to get concessions, shade = king of pops). This is one of those teams that I can see easily winning 8 or 9 games, or losing the rest of their games.

Purdue and Michigan are tied at 7 and Purdue just picked UM. And is inside the UM 30.

B1G may miss the playoff this season. This is like the days of the SEC where everyone beat each other up.

Miami has the excuse that FSU had. 3 weeks off from their last game and Toledo is a pretty good MAC team most years. The other two are inexcusable.

I dunno, looks like standard CMR to me. Can't beat good teams and finds ways to keep other teams hanging around once or twice a year.

Poor Nebraska. Tanner Lee just threw another Pick 6. Guy has more TD passes to the opposition than to his own team.

Doubtful. Its a dumpster fire.

But who wants that job? You here Frost from UCF. But why would he leave? Sure its his alma mater. But it is probably a career step backwards.

Northern Illinois is pulling better recruits than Nebraska in the B1G footprint.

There is limited access to Texas now that they left the Big 12.

They are in a state with no population.

It is turning into a MAC level job. Or worse.

And since I'm fun like this ... so South Carolina beat NC State who beat FSU ... and SC is getting pushed around by La Tech today.

Well they just fired their AD, so presumably they'll wait to get a new one in before letting him go, but yeah...

Btw in your list of struggling area teams you forgot Clemson somehow being tied at home with a BC team Notre Dame ran all over last week. (And was Wake actually supposed to be good?)

Well, when I posted, it was at least 7-0 Clemson.

And, yeah, Wake had a cpl of votes in both polls last week. So maybe not "good" per se, but at least top 50'ish.

Not today. Down 34-17 after the PAT

Okay, so CPJ is a rather unlikable ass afaic ... but now & then he has a moment

Quote:
Pittsburgh coach Pat Narduzzi got in the first shot of the week, but Georgia Tech coach Paul Johnson got the last laugh.

Perhaps irked by Narduzzi accusing the Yellow Jackets of playing “dangerous football,” Johnson sent the Panthers home with a subtle dig following Tech’s 35-17 win over Pitt on Saturday at Bobby Dodd Stadium.

Commenting on his team’s four lost fumbles, Johnson said it was disappointing “and we’ve got to clean that up, because against a good team, we won’t be able to survive.”
...
In the postgame handshake with Narduzzi, Johnson said he didn’t bring up his comments, but just wished him luck. Asked for his thoughts about Narduzzi’s accusation, Johnson said, “I’ll take the high road on that one.”

That apparently was a reference to a comment Narduzzi made after another coach, Penn State’s James Franklin, took a swipe at Pitt.

Paul Johnson zings Pittsburgh, Pat Narduzzi

Targeting is such a tough penalty. I know why its there. But that Purdue kid didnt have a chance to stop. And he hit him with his shoulder. It just happened the michigan kid was going low.

Too bad.

I really don't think OSU could have possibly called a worse play there. You have a heisman candidate QB and driving to cut the lead to 6 and you decide you'd rather have your WR throwing the ball?

Narduzzi must be a giant asshole because between coaches taking shots at him and his own players reportedly telling recruits to stay away he doesn't seem well liked.

Terrible playcall by Ok State. I could see it a lot further away due to its big play potential, but no reason to call a WR pass in the red zone when you're averaging like 8 yards a play.

Great gameplan & balance by TCU today. 6 different ballcarriers & 8 receivers. Though it's not quite over yet...

Btw it's funny how the tables turn each week. I'm here ready to admit Brohm's doing a great job at Purdue & they're better, thus Louisville's close win over them looks better and it improves Clemson's resume... but then Clemson struggles (for 3 quarters) with a bad BC team & Alabama curbstomps a fringe Top 25 team, outgaining them 677-78.

As badly as Okie St defense has played, I wonder why they didnt try an onside kick.

You aint kidding. Our offense is not executing. Drops, over throws. Ugh.

Defense is playing well. But the O needs to contribute soon, or its going to be a long 2nd half.

NDSU Bison running back, Lance Dunn, touched the ball 4 times in a 56-0 W over Robert Morris and scored 4 touchdowns. He had 121 total yards. He had TD runs of 61, 45, and 5, and a reception of 10.

That's a statline that's hard to top.

Iowa football is being outgained 219-54 in a half.

Iowa defense is going to start giving up huge plays in the 2nd half. 19:30-10:30 TOP. Barkley goes beast mode in the 2nd half.

How is Baylor beating Oklahoma? I watched Baylor against Duke and they looked like a 2nd tier mid major conference team.

You mean overused? Because 6 yards per carry seems pretty good.

Huge break/great play by Crawford for ND.

Idk if they're legit, but Georgia suddenly looks like they have a decent path to being undefeated until the SECCG.

Once of the odder stat lines you'll see this weekend

Kerryon Johnson, Auburn.
Currently 48 yards on 18 carries ... oh, and 5 touchdowns.

17 carries 163 yards and over 200 yards of total offense. He looks an extra gear quicker than the entire hawks defense.
