This article sheds a little more light on it:

http://www.oregonlive.com/sports/oregonian/john_canzano/index.ssf/2017/10/canzano_gary_andersen_vowed_he.html

I would suspect part of him walking away without asking for the buyout is some level of respect for Barnes, but most of it is clearly just that he's an unusual guy in the profession who was getting frustrated at a lot of things there and took enough ownership of his own failures to not demand any additional money.

Should make another program a little less uneasy about hiring him knowing he is willing to walk away from a buyout if things dont work out. Might need to take a job at a lower tier program like Charlotte and work his stock back up.

On a different note. Does anyone ever wonder how wikipedia gets updated so quickly? Even virtual unknown coaches like Gary Andersen will have his wikipedia updated with minutes of it happening.

Id still go Georgia instead of Washington. Once they beat USC, Stanford or Washington St in convincing fashion Id probably change my mind. At this point Washington hasnt beaten anyone good. Unfortunate for them because they seem very good and cant wait for them to play a good team.

Yeah, the way the schedule is working out the degree of difficulty rises as the season goes along. Colorado being just OK is a mild surprise and hurts their cause currently.

They'll get some good opportunities at Stanford and vs. WSU to prove their case, and assuming they win the North and USC wins the South, that will be another good test.

I think Washingtons defense is the best the West has seen in 20 years so I am excited to see how they do against the better offenses. Its nice to see the Pac-12 focusing on defense a bit more these days.

Well it's only halftime but cuse up 3 on Clemson.

Really. Gotta question Dabo leaving his obviously injured QB in the game, who then gets a concussion. Is the game more important than his health? Hope somebody asks him about it.

Syracuse is making it interesting. Up 3 with 9 minutes left. But Im waiting for Clemson to run off a couple TDs here pretty quick.

Credit Syracuse, converting on two 3rd downs on what should be the final drive.

Yep, with the cuse scoring 27 ud think the over was locked in. How did Clemson only score 24 in a game against that fast paced offense?

If Clemson had to lose, I'm ok with it being to Dino Babers.

Good guy, good coach. They deserved it tonight.

Even down 10-3 going into half I thought WSU was controlling the game and felt confident they'd win in the 2nd half... but then that shanked punt,
a quick drive by Cal and that super gutsy playcall to go for the TD instead of the FG on the last play of the half & now Cal's looking pretty good.

I only watched the game in the background, and I know they have a lot of QB give/keep reads on running plays, but only 12 runs for the two RB's who combined for 125 yards despite having a banged up QB/then backup QB seems a little crazy.

Once again Larry Scott screws the Pac-10 - not that I think Wazzu would have gone undefeated but they have a legitimate beef at playing two Friday night games in 3 weeks. Better hope Washington makes the playoff now.

Wazzou lays an egg. After watching Cal against Washington I couldnt believe this result. Makes me want to bump Washington up as Cal's offense was purely pathetic looking against Washington. With how bad Bowers played against Washington I was thinking Cal changed it up and went to their backup to get this result.

That's one more example of shitty conference scheduling in the Pac-12. I know we have more constraints than other conferences, but still - they really need to do a better job with this stuff.

#BitchHappens

Honestly, the o-line is hot garbage & there's not a legit QB on campus.

And, looking at the box score, I don't believe a single player who recorded a yard of offense vs Iowa played a snap today.

I wonder how often a D1 game ends the first quarter without a single completed pass? (GT 0/0 ... Miami 0/4)

I'd think it's probably less than 5%

Miami and Oklahoma survive scares.

Miami threw about 10 bubble screens against GT on the last drive. It was crazy.

They just spent 3 minutes trying to decide whether or not a pass was incomplete in the Ohio State game that would result in about a 1 yard loss.

There should be common sense applied to the use of replay.

They're good ... until they aren't. And once they aren't, they appear to be incapable of changing that for the rest of the game.

I have to admit that I'm less interested in college football with the Alabama monster. Granted, they may always get upset in the NC game, but it's a fait accompli that they will be there. I wish it were more wide open.

From the CPJ post-game, on going for it on fourth-and-6 in the first half at the Miami 27-yard line: “Our guys who coach the kicker said he couldn’t make it from that far.”

I actually believe him.

My question is why in the fuck does an alleged P5 school not have one of the 99 kickers in D1 this season who have hit from 40-49? There are actually seven others who have hit from 50+ without attempting a 40something.

That's ONE HUNDRED SIX kickers better than what you managed to get on campus you can't recruit for shit fuckhead.

That is very pathetic. Even more pathetic that he admits how bad he sucks at recruiting. I live in a very rural part of Southern Minnesota with low population and I see high schoolers that can make 50 yarders.
