Good start as our defense forces a 3 and out.

We cover 57 yards in just 6 plays ending in a 3 yard TD pass from Barkley to Grimble. 7-0.

Another 3 and out. Our defense is playing very well early.

A 5 play 57 yard drive ends with a 9 yard TD pass to Prater. 14-0.

Another 3 and out. This is going to get ugly quick.

A 9 play 58 yard drive ends with a 2 yard TD pass to Ellison. 21-0 at the end of 1.

Arizona strikes quickly as their QB gets on track. 21-7 on a quick 1 minute drive that covered 76 yards in 8 plays.

We strike in just over a minute ourselves as Baxter breaks a long run. 4 plays 72 yards including a 45 yard Baxter TD run. 28-7.

Our next drive covers 39 yards in 5 plays including a 24 yard TD pass to Woods who had an amazing catch in the back of the endzone. 35-7.

Johnson with a great tackle on their HB in which he forces a fumble and Baucham picks it up. Williams misses a 37 yard FG attempt.

They have a nice drive to set up a 36 yard FG attempt at the end of the half, but it is wide right.

We lead 35-7 at the half and we get the ball.

Midway through the 3rd Barkley finds Woods for a beautiful 24 yard TD catch. That was a 13 play 80 yard drive that used up a good chunk of the 3rd quarter. 42-7.

After the game, we got 3 much needed commits:

4 star CB Lee Morris is the #3 CB in the nation. He is 6'2 183 and is from Klamath Falls, Oregon. He picked us over the Ducks. He is a very fast corner with very good ball skills and I expect he may start as a true freshman.

3 star CB Jared Jackson is from Fresno CA and is 19th in the nation. He is 6'2 185 and has above average speed. He should provide depth for one of our weakest units.

4 star MLB John Wilkinson is the 5th rated MLB in the nation. He is 6'2 228 and is from Colton, CA. He picked us over UCLA. He has excellent speed but needs to develop his other skills. Still, he has a good chance to compete for playing time right away.

Today we play at a 3-1 Oregon State team that has an explosive offense. Will we be able to contain them?

Oregon State moved the ball easily ending with a 15 yard TD run by Jacquizz Rodgers. Down 7-0.

Barkley drives us inside the 30 before throwing a pick.

Oregon State with another quick drive ending in a 4 yard TD run by Jacquizz. They miss the Extra Point. 13-0.

Barkley leads a great drive ending in a 13 yard TD pass to Woods who made 2 defenders miss to get the extra yardage for the TD. However, Woods got hurt on the tackle. Hopefully, it is not bad. 13-7.

Oregon State with another quick strike drive, and Rodgers gets his 3rd TD of the day. Their kicker misses another extra point (despite me jacking up FG accuracy for the CPU.) 19-7.

Woods is fine and back in the game. 4th play of our drive is a 67 yard TD to Prater. 19-14.

A holding penalty gets them into 2nd and long and then Johnson sacks the QB on 3rd and 21.

We put together a methodical drive that ends in a 8 yard TD pass to Young. Barkley to Woods for a 2 point conversion. 22-19. 1:10 left in the half.

Johnson gets his 2nd sack of the day! The freshman is awesome!

We are up 22-19 at the half, and we get the ball back.

We put together a 7 play 75 yard drive that ends with a 3 yard slant to Prater. 29-19.

They respond with a 8 play 73 yard drive that ends with 1 yard TD run by their FB. 29-26.

At the end of 3, we are up 29-26 and are inside their 5.

They stop us on 4th and goal from the 1/2 yard line.

Our defense holds them to a 3 and out!

Woods with a nice little punt return to get to their 40.

PA pass to Woods for 35 yard gain. 2 plays later 5 yard TD pass to Grimble. 36-26.

1st play is a big gain on a screen to Rodgers who made 2 defenders miss. 3 plays later their QB finds D. Catchings for a 14 yard TD play on a 4th and 1. 3:59 to go.

PA pass to Grimble catches them on the blitz for a big gain. Our run game takes over the rest of the drive ending in a 4 yard TD run by Baxter. 43-33. Their starting S was knocked out for the season on that play too.

After a long pass play, they go 4 and out. First play of our next drive, Baxter catches them perfectly on the counter play and takes it all of the way! 62 yard TD. 50-33.

We win the game 50-33. Exciting game.

Barkley was the player of the game with 26 of 39 passing for 393 yards with 5 TD's 1 INT. He was sacked 1 time.

Today we play at a 2-3 ND team that features a very good offense and a very bad defense.

ND starts the game with a very efficient drive that ends in a 8 yard TD pass to Michael Floyd. 7-0.

While fighting to break a tackle, Woods fumbles the kickoff and ND recovers. Our defense doesn't give up a yard, but their kicker makes a 47 yard FG. 10-0.

We strike quickly, with a key play of Baxter turning a screen into a 51 yard gain. The drive ends with a 7 yard TD pass to Young. 10-7.

TJ Bryant picks off the first pass of their next drive. We'll start at their 34. A sack costs us 6 yards and we end up punting from their 40. Good punt to pin them just inside the 6 yard line.

1st play of their next drive we knock Crist out of the game with a sprained shoulder. Wow. On a 3rd and 21, their backup hits a WR for a 74 yard TD pass when Torin Harris was burned badly. 17-7.

Woods takes the ensuing kickoff 99 yards for a TD!! 17-14.

Our defense holds, but Barkley gets hit and throws a bad pick.. it takes a heroic effort from Woods to stop a pick 6. He tackles the linebacker on the 1.

2 plays later a PA pass results in a 1 yard TD pass to Kyle Rudolph. 24-14.

10 play 74 yard drive that ends in a 1 yard TD run by Baxter. 24-21.

We stop their HB on 3rd and 1 to force a 3 and out. We go 3 and out as well. Our defense stops them around midfield.

Barkley runs a nice 2 minute drill, but with 7 seconds left he throws a pick in the endzone. The defender covering Prater just had a nice jump on the ball.

Down 24-21 at the half, but we get the ball back.

Baxter gets perfect blocking and goes untouched on a 67 yard TD run. 28-24.

ND dissects us ending with a 24 yard TD pass to Floyd. 31-28.

They force a 3 and out as Barkley overthrows 2 receivers.

Our defense stops them at our 38, but their kicker makes a 55 yard FG! 34-28.

They have Barkley rattled and we go 3 and out.

We get back to back sacks with blitzes to force a 3 and out.

Baxter with a few big runs and then Barkley finds Prater for a 12 yard TD. 35-34. Early in the 4th.

A quick drive ends when we stop a 3rd and 8. They settle for a 40 yard FG. 37-35. 6 minutes left.

Woods with a spectacular cut to return another kickoff for a TD!!! 42-37.

Floyd gets crushed across the middle and fumbles the ball. Horton recovers it for us. We start on their 37. Barkley to Young for a 29 yard gain. Barkley to Woods for a 8 yard TD. 49-37.

ND with a quick drive, 10 plays, 74 yards, 2:05 ending in a 13 yard TD pass. 49-44. They kick it deep. 2:39 left.

After they stuff Baxter on 1st, a 14 yard pass to Grimble to get us a 1st. A PA pass for a bomb to Prater. We are inside their 20.

A few runs and then Baxter runs it in from the 6. 56-44. 1:12 left.

We win the game 56-44.

Baxter is the player of the game.

Today's game is against a 4-2 WSU team that isn't as good as their record would indicate.

After we force a 3 and out, Barkley leads a great drive ending with a 14 yard TD pass to Ausberry. 7-0.

WSU answers with a drive that dissects our pass defense. 7-7.

Barkley overthrows 2 receivers and we punt from the 50. A bad bounce leads to a touchback.

Our defense stops them quickly and we get the ball back as the quarter ends.

Barkley finds Young for a 6 yard TD to end a 6 play 63 yard drive. 14-7.

WSU with a nice answering drive, but we stop them right around our 20. FG makes it 14-10.

Barkley gets clobbered on a blitz and he is hurt. Scroggins comes in facing a 3rd and 21.. he passes it short to Prater for 6. We have to punt and are unable to down it again.

Barkley has a minor shoulder injury and we'll go ahead and play him.

1st play of their drive McAllister makes a great pick! He returns it to their 22.

3 plays later Barkley finds Woods for a 1 yard TD on a quick slant. 21-10.

Their QB throws the ball under heavy pressure and he throws a lame duck right at TJ Bryant who returns it for 6. 28-10.

WSU with a very impressive 1 minute drill, but we stop them 3 straight times on our 1. They settle for the 18 yard FG. 28-13 with 2 seconds left in the half. We get the ball back to start the 2nd half.

Baxter with a 2 yard TD run to end a 9 play 61 yard drive to start the 2nd half. 35-13.

Again WSU drives quickly inside our redzone, but we hold them to a FG again. 35-16.

Barkley with a 16 yard strike to Woods. 42-16. We covered 68 yards in 8 plays.

We run it 10 times in a row, before throwing it on 3rd and 6 from their 31. Baxter turns the play into a 31 yard TD reception. 49-16. That will do it for our starters early in the 4th quarter.

A 14 play 68 yard drive ends with a 3 yard TD run by Tyler. 56-16.

We win the game 56-16.

Barkley was the player of the game with 19 of 31 passing for 262 yards and 5 TD's. He was sacked 1 time.

Scroggins was 2 of 2 for 14 yards.

Jeff Tuel was 22 of 36 for 311 yards with 1 TD 2 INT's for WSU.

Baxter with 20 carries for 121 yards and a TD. Tyler with 9 carries for 48 yards and a TD. McNeal with 4 carries for 14 yards.

Winston of WSU with 17 carries for 64 yards.

With 2,375 yards 30 TD's and 8 INT's, Barkley is in the middle of the Heisman discussion. Other players that are being highly considered:

Tate Forcier who has completed 125 of 240 passs for 2,123 yards with 20 TD's vs 5 INT's. He also has 70 rushes for 226 yards and 5 TD's.

Cal starts with the game with a touchdown drive. 7 plays 71 yards in just over 2 minutes ending with a 15 yard TD pass from Sweeney. 7-0.

We respond quickly and end it with a 26 yard TD run by Dillon Baxter who used his blockers perfectly to set up 3 guys and was never touched on the way to the endzone. 7-7.

A Torin Harris interception on a very acrobatic play gives us a short field. 2 plays later Barkley to Woods for a 18 yard TD. 14-7.

Vereen has had some big plays, but we stop him on 4th and 1 on our 15.

We give them the ball back a few minutes later and they drive into FG range. 14-10. 3 minutes left in the half.

Butler returns a kickoff for a TD! 21-10.

Cal drives down the field but TJ McDonald picks it off inside our 10.

We are up 21-10 and we get the ball to start the 2nd half.

1st drive of the 2nd half is 11 plays 78 yards ending in a 3 yard TD pass to Young. 28-10.

Vereen just dashes our defense for big run after big run ending in a 4 yard TD run. 28-17.

We stop Vereen on 4th and 1 on our 32 to get the ball back.

We punt the ball back. End of 3. 35-17.

We knock Sweeney out, then their 2nd string QB out, then their 3rd string QB throws a pick to Kennard who makes a great move to catch it and turns it into a pick 6! 42-17.

Cal with a quick strike drive ending in a 8 yard TD pass. 42-24. 5:35 left.

We recover an onside kick. First play is a 38 yard run by Baxter. 2 plays later Baxter runs it in from the 2. 49-24.

We win the game 49-24 as we are able to run out the last 3 minutes.

Baxter is the player of the game.

Barkley was only 12 of 20 for 141 yards and 2 TD's. Will this hurt his Heisman hopes? He was sacked 4 times.

Sweeney was 25 of 38 for 289 yards with 2 TD's 2 INT's and 2 sacks.

Baxter with 14 carries for 204 yards and 3 TD's. A career day for him.

We lost a bunch of recruits this week including:

#3 HB Steve Wheeler who would have been the perfect power back for us. He had us leading all year, but he changed his mind this week and decided to stay in Florida, picking Miami.

#2 Athlete in the nation David Fine had us #1 at various points, but the Chicago native is going to Texas.

#7 FS Mike Kendrick is flying from Hawaii to go to ND. Dropping us at the last minute.

#1 Guard who is from Michigan chooses Ohio State over USC.

#1 SS leaves California for OU. We slow played him a bit.

#1 Athlete stays close to home in Ohio and picks Ohio State.

#3 Athlete stays close to his home in Pennsylvania and picks Penn State.

#5 Athlete stays close to home and picks OU.

This could be a very small class for us unless we load up on a few depth guys..

We do have a soft verbal from the #3 WR in the nation, but we had a soft verbal on that HB before this week too...

Time for the bye..

During the bye week, we get 1 instant commit:

Juco OLB Mark Dawson is 6'3 213 and is a 3 star LB from San Mateo, CA. He is the 34th ranked LB. He commits as soon as we offer.

We also got a 5 star WR who is #3 in the country. Justin Morgan is 6'1 185 and is from Esperance, Washington. He hose us over Oregon and Washington. He has elite speed and excellent jumping ability. His hands need a bit of work.

Our next game is hosting 5-2 Washington (#15 in polls.)

Lost a long post about Washington game apparently, but we barely beat them 43-42 in a tight back and forth game. Next up is a game at 3-6 Arizona.

Baucham with an early pick 6 to start the game for us. 7-0, we lead.

3rd play of our 1st drive, Baxter takes a screen pass, uses his blockers perfectly and turns it into a 49 yard TD. 14-0.

TJ Bryant with a pick to set up a short field. 4 plays later, Barkley to Woods for a 8 yard TD. 21-0.

We force a 3 and out and Barkley covers 7 plays in 63 yards ending in a 9 yard TD pass to Woods. 28-0.

5 play 62 yard drive ending in a 22 yard TD pass to Prater. 35-0, early in the 2nd.

Barkley with a 9 play 83 yard drive ending in a 8 yard TD pass to Prater. 42-0.

Barkley with a perfect 2 minute drive to end the half ending in a 5 yard TD to Ambles. 49-0.

Halftime: 49-0. We get the ball to start the 2nd half and we are dominating on both sides. Barkley's halftime stats: 21 of 30 for 342 yards and 6 TD's which is great cause he won't throw it again this game.

I was wrong, we get into 3rd and 18 and I can't resist throwing, but we fail to convert the 1st. That will be Barkley's last drive as we punt.

Arizona puts together a nice drive ending in a 13 yard TD pass. 49-7.

Scroggins with a big pass to Young for a long gain to keep our drive going and 2 plays later Baxter runs it in from the 14. 56-7 and now our entire second unit will enter the game.

We win the game 56-7.

Today we host 7-3 Oregon which has a very talented team. It's a rare rainy day in Los Angeles which should slow them down a bit.

We get a sack on 3rd and 10 and force a punt from our 44.

Barkley throws a bad pick giving them the ball back at our 40.

Our defense holds them to a 37 yard FG. 3-0.

A good drive ends with Barkley's 2nd pick of the day at their 30.

Oregon tries a pass out of the wildcat and Torin Harris picks off the underthrown ball. We are their 32.

At the end of 1, Barkley finds Ambles for a 14 yard TD pass 7-3.

DE Johnson with a big sack on 3rd and 7 to force a 3 and out!

Barkley throws 3rd pick on a deep attempt to Prater. Might just cost himself a Heisman today..

Our defense holds and forces a punt before they cross midfield. Who thought this would be a defensive battle?

We catch them on a blitz and Woods is WIDE open for a long TD. Barkley almost overthrew him but left just enough air under it for Woods to catch up. 54 yard TD on a 5 play 80 yard drive. 14-3.

We force a punt around midfield. Our defense is laying some lumber and their receivers are dropping the wet ball. A poor punt gives us excellent field position.

5 play 60 yard drive ending in a 27 yard pass to Young. We lead 21-3.

We force a 3 and out. Their offense just isn't that explosive today.

2 minute drill: Barkley to Woods for 12 yards, Barkley to Woods for 21 yards, a few plays later - Barkley to Woods for a 37 yard TD pass. 5 plays 74 yards. 28-3.

Halftime: We lead 28-3 and we get the ball back.

After forcing us to go 3 and out, Oregon marches down the field, but our defense holds in the redzone. 28-6.

Barkley drives us down the field, but we fail to convert in the redzone. 32 yard FG. 31-6.

Our defense stops a fake punt at midfield.

On a 3rd and 9, Barkley to Ausberry for a 12 yard TD to make it 38-6. Lots of Baxter on that drive.

Tyler with a 8 yard TD run early in the 4th. 45-6. Both 2nd units in the game with 7 minutes left.

They drive inside our 10, but Lache Seastrunk fumbles it and Kevin Greene dives on it.

We ended Seastrunk's season on the play as he broke his collarbone.

We go 3 and out and they drive down the field for a TD. 45-13.

We win the game 45-13.

Woods is the player of the game with 6 catches for 174 yards and 2 TD's.

Barkley was 19 of 34 for 367 yards with 5 TD's 3 INT's. He was sacked 2 times.

Scroggins was 0 of 2.

Darron Thomas was 19 of 30 for 247 yards and a TD.

Baxter with 21 carries for 163 yards. Tyler iwth 9 for 33 yards and a TD.

Kenjoy Barner with 20 carries for 61 yards. Lache Seastrunk with 4 for 24 yards.

Ambles with 4 catches for 45 yards and a TD. Young with 3 for 44 yards and a TD. Prater with 2 for 29 yards. Ausberry with 2 for 47 yards and a TD.

RS FR Josh Huff led them with 6 catches for 78 yards. SR Lavasier Tuinei had 5 for 80 yards and a TD.

Armstead with 7 tackles, 5 for a loss. Kennard with 6 tackle.s Both FR DE's had a sack, Walker and Johnson. Baucham also had a sack.

Torin Harris had our only interception of the game.

We've dropped to #2 in the polls. Tonight, we finish the game at UCLA (7-4.) They are #15 in the polls.

How disgusting. Prince beats the blitz on 4th and 10 and Randall Carroll for a 26 yard TD. Down 7-0.

Defenses are dominating the game so far. UCLA leads 7-0 at the end of 1.

Midway through the 2nd, we finally put together an effective drive ending in a 8 yard TD pass to Young. 7-7. 9 play 53 yard drive.

Grimble runs over a corner back to turn a 4 yard gain into a 11 yard TD. 14-7 late in the half. 7 play 53 yard drive.

Nelson Rosario catches a short pass, breaks a tackle and turns it in a 72 yard TD. 14-14. 1 minute left.

Barkley drives us down the field quickly, but Baxter fumbles and they recover on their own 22.

Prince gets them into FG range, but their kicker misses from 45 yards out as time expires in the half. 14-14, we get the ball back.

We open the half with a 12 play 70 yard drive ending in a 4 yard TD to Ellison. 21-14.

UCLA runs it on 4th and inches at the 50 and we stuff them!

After their defense forces us to punt, their HB fumbles and Bryant picks it up and runs it in 22 yards for a TD. 28-14.

Late in the 3rd, Prince ends a good drive with his 3rd TD pass of the day. 28-21.

1st play - Woods catches a screen, gets 2 perfect blocks and is gone for a 74 yard TD! 35-21.

Prince to Embree for a 46 yard TD. 35-28 early in the 4th.

Both defenses control the 4th. We get a stop on 4th and 3 at the 48. 1:43 left...

They force a 3 and out. They drive down the field, until Rosario fumbles and Bryant picks it up... on review they reverse it.

2 plays later, we force a turnover on downs.

Barkley to Prater for a 1st and that ends the game. We win 35-28.

Barkley is the player of the game despite a somewhat rough outing - 20 of 40 for 318 yards and 4 TD's.

Prince was 24 of 47 for 343 yards and 4 TD's.

Baxter 18 carries for 92 yards. Woods with 2 for 12 yards.

Johnathan Frankoin with 23 for 78 yards.

Woods with 4 catches for 134 yards and a TD. Butler with 5 for 81 yards. Prater with 4 for 44 yards. Young with 2 for 35 yards and a TD.

Michigan wins the toss and chooses to defer the ball until the 2nd half.

Barkley overthrows a wide open TE on 3rd and 11 and we punt quickly. We can't afford that against this team's extremely potent offense..

Our defense gets dashed, but we stop them inside the 20. They kick a short FG. 3-0.

Barkley with a great drive, ending in a 12 yard TD pass to Butler. 7-3.

Late in the 1st quarter, their HB fumbles a pitch and we recover. Fangupo with the recovery.

5 play 48 yard drive ending in a 1 yard TD run by Baxter. 14-3.

We hit Forcier hard and they go 3 and out.

Defenses control the 2nd quarter, but we drive inside the 10 on one late drive before they stop us. FG makes it 17-3.

Their star WR makes a big play and then fumbles on a big hit from Starling.. we recover!

2 plays Later Barkley with a bomb to Prater who catches it.. and then hurdles a defender who went low at him.. TD!! 24-3.

Forcier drops back, throws an out, McAllister picks it off.. and takes it 22 yards for a TD! 31-3.

Johnson (the DE) with a sack at the end of the half. 31-3.

Forcier with a 18 yard TD strike to Odoms. 31-10.

Barkely gets hit while throwing on 3rd down and throws a bad pick to their linebacker. Barkley is hurt on the play too. They have it on our 42..

5 plays later, Forcier to Cannon for a 17 yard TD. 31-17.

Scroggins to Woods on a screen for a loss of 2 first play. On 3rd and 8, Scroggins finds Prater for 12 yards. Scroggins was leading us down the field, but Baxter fumbles at their 35. They recover!

We get another fumble from their HB. On 3rd and 10, Scroggins finds Prater for 11. Prater is having an amazing game!

End of 3: We lead 31-17.

A lot of Baxter, a bit of Scroggins, and a dash of Tyler on this drive to get us into the endzone on a 4 yard TD run by Tyler. 38-17 with only 4 minutes left in the game as we ate up a lot of clock. 13 play 80 yard drive.

Word on Barkley is that he suffered a severely sprained shoulder. Nothing that would stop him from going pro, but he is done for today.

We get a turnover on downs after stopping them on 4th and 5 on our 18.

Tyler with a huge run in which he ran over 1 defender and then just beat everyone to the corner and raced down the sideline. 45-17. 76 yard TD by Tyler.

We won the game 45-17. Now that Barkley has won a National Championship, will he go pro? Scroggins looked good in the 2nd half..

Prater was the player of the game with 9 catches for 208 yards and a TD.

Barkley was 14 of 19 for 230 yards with 2 TD's 1 INT. He was sacked 2 times.

Scroggins was 6 of 6 for 96 yards. 0 TD's, 0 INT, 0 sacks.

Forcier was 19 of 32 for 225 yards with 2 TD's 1 INT.

Baxter with 29 carries for 87 yards and a TD. Tyler with 3 for 85 yards and 2 TD's.

Michael Shaw with 21 carries for 129 yards and 2 fumbles.

Prater with 9 catches for 208 yards and a TD. Woods with 5 for 46 yards. Young with 2 for 36 yards.

Shaw led them with 5 catches for 47 yards. True Freshman Michael Cannon with 4 catches for 32 yards and a TD. Martavious Odoms with 3 catches for 59 yards and a TD but also a key fumble.

As I plan my recruiting board, I want to take a more in depth look at each position. I'll just do a few tonight before bed:

QB:

Barkley - SR - 6'3 224, 94. Set to repeat as a Heisman winner with so many weapons around him.

RS FR Kory Reid - The heir apparent ahead of Scroggins now. 5'11 188, 86. Best speed and acceleration of any QB on the roster. Has RB type moves. Also, has the 2nd best arm on the roster.

RS SO Jesse Scroggins - 6'2 203, 83. Very good mobility (better than Barkley) with a strong but inaccurate arm. Will battle Reid for the starter's role next year.

True Freshman Jonathan Edwards - 6'0 185 - 79. Great mobility (almost as good as Reid) with a very accurate but not big arm. Will develop into a good QB I think.

RS SR John Manoogian - 6'0 207, 76. Won't play at all.

With 3 young returning QB's, I'd say recruiting a QB is low priority, but we will take 1 if they want to come..

HB's:

JR Dillon Baxter 6'0 210, 89 - Tremendous speed, acceleration, and agility. Strong arm too (if we decide to run any HB passes.) Clear starter. Likely to go pro after this year.

RS JR Patrick Hall - Almost as explosive as Dillon. We'll have lightning and lightning this year. 6'1 190, 84. Could start next year.

RS SR Curtis McNeal - 5'8 195, 83. Most agile back on the team. Great acceleration - not much pop.

Erick Sear - 6'2 200, 65. Disappointing at first glance.

With Dillon likely to leave early, McNeal graduating, HB is a top priority. I'd love to take 2 or even 3 HB's.

FB:

True Freshman Zach Young will start right away and give the PA fits with our TE. Kid is fast, accelerates well, and is a solid blocker. 6'0 205, 78.

RS FR Corey Edwards - 6'1 248 - 75. Has tremendous speed for his size and is a better receiver. On second hand, I may go with Edwards as our starting FB. He is even a better blocker.. Edwards will start.

With 2 young options, FB is very low priority.

Will go through the rest of the roster tomorrow.

WR is a stacked position and we'll run a lot more 3 and 4 WR sets this year than last:

RS SR Brice Butler is 6'3 202 and rated 93. Great route runner, very good speed.

JR Kyle Prater is 6'5 220 and is rated 90. Spectacular leaper with great hands. Excellent speed for his size.

JR Robert Woods is 6'1 184 and is rated 90. Has amazing speed. Truly elite gamebreaking speed. Very good hands.

RS SO Markeith Ambles is 6'2 204 and is rated 88. Great route runner with very good hands.

SR Devon Flourney is another elite burner. Good hands. 6'1 189 and rated 87 overall.

RS Fresman J.J. Pearson is 6'0 166 and is rated 81 overall. Very good speed. Great hands. Very good at breaking tackles.

True Freshman Justin Morgan is 6'1 185 and is rated 79 overall. Good speed, good hands, needs to work on his route running and awareness. Likely redshirt.

Butler is definitely gone. Woods and Prater are likely early entrants. Therefore, I'd like to add 1-2 WR's.

TE:

Sophomore Zach Young is now 6'8 260. Good speed. Great at breaking tackles. Very good hands. Good blocker. Rated 87 overall.

JR Xavier Grimble is 6'6 250 and is rated 81 overall. Great speed, good hands. Very good blocker.

I want at least 1 TE this year.

T:

RS SR LT Matt Kalil is 6'6 300 and is rated 95. He is the leader of a veteran line.

Sophomore Andy Malone is 6'4 330 and is rated 88 overall.

Sophomore David Davis is 6'6 275 and is rated 87 overall.

Sophomore Sean Simpson is 6'4 344 and is rated 80 overall.

I'd love to add 1 elite T to the mix.

G:

JR RS LG Kevin Graf is 6'6 321 and is rated 92 overall.

So G Sean Bailey is 6'6 277 and is rated 85 overall.

RS SR G Khaled Holmes is 6'4 312 and is rated 91 overall.

RS JR John Martinez is 6'3 282 and is rated 83 overall.

RS SO Giovani Di Poalo is 6'6 312 and is rated 82 overall.

I'd like to add 1 guard, but it is not a priority.

C:

True Freshman Nathan Lester is 6'4 305 and rated 81 overall. He'll start right away.

RS JR Abe Markowitz is 6'1 302 and is rated 72 overall.

C is not a priority this year.

DE is a low priority this year.

Ohio State's HB is controlling the 1st drive, but Starling just crushed him and he is done for a week or two..

Ohio State with a 14 play 81 yard drive that ended in a 2 yard TD run by their backup HB, Jordan Hall. They ate up over half of the quarter too. 7-0.

2nd play of the game, Barkley is crushed and hurt. Reid comes into the game and is unable to convert 3rd and 10. We punt.

Their young QB, Corbett throws a pick to Torin Harris who made a great play. We get a short field as a result. Barkley is hurt but is coming back into the game...

1 play later Barkley to Prater for a 18 yard TD pass. 7-7.

We stop the pass on 3rd and 1 and force a 3 and out.

Butler gets crushed across the middle and fumbles it. They recover at around midfield.

Corbett completes a key 3rd and 8 and they run it well. Hall finishes it off with a 3 yard TD as the quarter expires. 14-7.

They force a 3 and out. Their HB is destroying us, but we force a fumble, and the freshman Eric Martin falls on it. We hurt him that play.. will he come back?

Nope, word is we broke his leg! Barkley misses a wide open Flournoy on 3rd and 14. We go 3 and out. Wow. What happened to this fabled offense?

3rd string HB in the game now.. His name is Carlos Hyde.

We get them to punt and start at our 29.

Their defense is relentless. A sack forces us into 3rd and long and we cannot convert. I need to get more short passing plays for Barkley.

We get the ball back with 1 minute left. At our 25. Can Barkley do anything? We get to their 36 before a sack pushes us out of FG range. Their defense is nasty!

Halftime: We are down 14-7, but we get the ball back.

3rd play of the drive, Prater with a quick catch, turns it into a big gain, but then he is gang tackled and fumbles. Our new FB is there to fall on it!

Woods drops the ball on 3rd and 5! Williams makes a 37 yard FG. 14-10.

We force a 3 and out. Their QB is erratic..

We go for it on 4th and inches at midfield and they stuff us.

They make us pay with a tough drive on the ground that ends in a TD run on 4th and goal from the 1/2 yard line. 21-10.

Barkley has to get it going now...

Holding calls have been killing us all day.. one on Graf just negated a big gain to Young (the TE). That puts us into 2nd and long and we are unable to convert 3rd and 12 as we get stopped 2 yards short.. We punt.

Down 21-10 at the end of 3.

Sheesh, their HB just got 18 yards on 2nd and 17. Hyde now has over 100 yards. They go for it on 4th and 6 on our 30 and we stop them.

On 4th and goal from the 7, Prater with a diving catch with full extension for the TD!! 21-16 after we fail to convert the 2 pt play. 3:55 left. Butler had a few key catches on that drive.

Wow! Their Wr fumbles the kickoff and Marquis Simmons picks it up and runs it in for a TD!! Barkley to Woods for a 2 point conversion. 24-21, we lead!

Wow! Their WR fumbles on a kickoff return again! Markeith Ambles dives on the loose ball! They stop us on 3rd and 2. We settle for a 30 yard FG. 27-21. 2:50 left..

They are marching down the field with short passes and runs..

On 4th and goal from the 2, Baucham knocks down the pass!!

We survive the scare, 27-21.

Barkley was 15 of 29 for 233 yards with 2 TD's 0 INTs. He was sacked 4 times.

Reid was 0 of 1..

Sophomore David Corbett was 14 of 28 for 144 yards and 1 INT.

Baxter with 16 carries for 77 yards. Patrick Hall with 1 for 5 yards.

Carlods Hyde with 26 carries for 135 yards and 2 TD's. Jordan Hall with 13 for 45 yards and a TD. Starter Jaamal Berry with 4 for 51 yards before he got hurt.

Butler with 4 catches for 78 yards. Prater with 4 for 88 yards and 2 TD's. Woods did not have a catch. Baxter with 3 for 31 yards. Young (TE) with 2 for 24 yards.

James Louis led them with 3 catches for 34 yards.

Kennard with 10 tackles, 2 for a loss.

Shawn Johnson got our only sack. He also had 6 tackles.

After the win, the #1 player in the nation, HB Marlon McDaniel commits to USC! Our thunder is here! Marlon is from Eunice, LA and he is 6'0 213 and a real powerful runner. He doesn't have great speed, but the guy is a short yardage battering ram who has some shiftiness as well. He picked us over LSU and Texas.

Our next game is hosting a solid 2-0 Rutgers team.

Savage helps them move easily down the field, but we stop them just inside the 20. 3-0 after a FG.

4 play 60 yard drive featuring a big run by Baxter ends with a 8 yard TD pass to Baxter. 7-3.

Savage to Keith Stroud for a 47 yard TD. Torin was beat badly. 10-7.

Barkley pump fakes.. gets blindsided .. fumbles.. they recover and return it inside the 20 before Baxter catches up and makes the tackle.

3 plays later their FB runs it in. They are up 17-7. Their offense is very good.

Barkley gets hit late (no call!) and they break his ribs.. He is done for today. Reid first play is 3rd and 12.. he gets hit before he can get it off. Bad throw. We have to punt..

Their freshman kicker misses a 34 yard FG after Savage marched them down the field quickly. We get the ball back with 7 minutes left in the half.

Baxter hits a perfect crease on a blitz and has a 72 yard TD run untouched. 17-14. 2 plays, 80 yards, 22 seconds.

Our defense finally makes a stop. They stuff runs on 1st and 2nd, and stop a Reid pass on 3rd with a good blitz. We go 3 and out..

Savage continues to pick us apart! A TD pass to his HB to end a quick drive. Down 24-14.

Reid with a really good scramble on a play action pass to get out of trouble and then he finds Grimble wide open for a 22 yard TD. 24-21 game. 20 seconds left in the half.

Halftime: We are down 24-21, but we get the ball this half.

Reid misses a wide open Prater with a bad overthrow and we go 3 and out.

Savage drives them inside the 10, but we stop them there. 27-21 after the FG.

Reid with a few critical 3rd down throws, but Baxter did most of the work including a 5 yard TD run. 28-27.

Cabral is hurt.. and it doesn't look good. A thin position gets even thinner..

Savage with another TD pass and he just set a Rutgers record for yardage in a game with 455.. ridiculous.. We stop the 2 point conversion. 33-28.

They continue to dissect our pass defense with multiple 4 WR sets..

End of 3 - They are in the redzone, and they lead 33-28.

Their HB finishes off the drive with a 1 yard TD run over the pile. 40-28. I knew our corners weren't great, but shocked by our defense.

Wish Barkley was in the game..

3rd and 8... Reid throws an inaccurate pass that is picked off.

Their HB fumbles after catching it and Johnson (the LB) picks it up and returns it 20 yards.... it's being reviewed... it gets reversed! Heartbreaking.

We stop them the next 3 plays, but a FG makes it 43-28 with 5:35 to go...

Reid drives us down the field in 4 plays, a pass to Woods, a scramble, a short pass, and then a bomb to Young (the TE) for a TD! 43-35.

Their HB breaks two tackles to pick up a 3rd and 3.. 2 plays later Johnson drops a sure interception!

We stop them at midfield and get the ball back with 1:45...

A few passes to Baxter that he turns into big gains.. a nice pass to Prater.. 2 runs by Baxter.. then a 4 yard TD run Baxter with 20 seconds left. 43-41....

Reid with an option keeper.. he runs it in for the 2 point conversion! Tied at 43!

We get the ball first in OT..

3 straight runs by Baxter including a 13 yard TD. 50-43...

21 yard pass and then a run for the TD. Tied at 50.

Savage with a 12 yard TD pass to make it 57-50.

Baxter fumbles on his first carry, but Edwards saves our season by falling on it. 2nd fumble recovery for the FB.

3 plays later Baxter with a 14 yard TD run! Tied at 57.

Reid with a scramble for 10 yards on 2nd and 9.. two plays later Baxter runs it in from the 4.

Reid fakes the pitch and keeps it and scores on the 2 point conversion! 65-57.

Johnson with a big sack to force them into 3rd and 22...Savage barely avoids the rush.. steps up and throws a strike for 14 yards. Next play, he throws another perfect pass to get them the 1st and goal on the 2.

The HB runs it in on the next play. We stop the HB on the 2 point conversion! We win a nail biter, 65-63!

Reid was 14 of 26 for 222 yards with 2 TD's 1 INT.

Barkley was 4 of 7 for 31 yards and a TD before he got hurt.

Great week for commits after the game with 5 big time players:

5 star SS Tim Douglas is the #1 SS in the nation. He is 6'0 198 from Visalia, CA. He is a big time hitter who is excellent in coverage too.

5 star DE L. O'Connor is the #2 DE in the nation. He is 6'5 246 and is from Concord, CA. He is an excellent speed rusher.

5 star HB Robert Smith is the #4 HB in the nation. He is from Apple Valley, CA. He is 6'2 196 and is a well balanced runner.

4 star TE Jay Moore is the #1 TE in the nation. He is from National City, CA. He is 6'5 248. He is a better blocker than receiver.

4 star CB Chase Martin is the #1 CB in the nation and was one of our highest priorities. We pulled him out of Ohio away from Ohio State. He is from Tallmadge, OH. He is a premier shut down corner with speed, coverage abilities, and he is a good tackler for a corner. He is 6'0 176.

In the next week, we get an instant commit:

WR William Hansen from Edgewater, CO is 6'7 195 and is a 4 star player who is ranked 12th in the country among WR's. He lacks speed, be is a spectacular jumper with solid hands.

Our next game is hosting a 3-2 Stanford team.

USC gets 3 more commits after the game:

4 star WR William Hansen is from Edgewater, CO. He is the #12 WR in the class. A very big target at 6'7 193. He lacks speed but is a spectacular jumper.

4 star Athete Brett Smith is 6'4 220. He is the #11 athlete from Lone Grove, OK. He has great physical attributes but is very raw.

Our next game is at #11 Oregon in what should be our biggest challenge left this year.

Barkley cuts through their defense easily ending in a 14 yard TD pass to our TE Young. 21-7. 5 plays, 56 yards, :46 TOP.

Johnson with a sack on 4th and 10 on our 32 to force a turnover.

Barkley with his 2nd pick of the day while getting hit. Ouch.

Today, we host the 5-4 Oregon State Beavers. Our team is mad and focused I think.

We force a 3 and out to start the game and then put together a methodical drive that ends in a 1 yard TD run by Baxter.

Oregon State puts together a lengthy methodical drive of their own ending in a 2 yard TD pass. 7-7.

A quick strike drive by Barkley ending in a 2 yard TD pass to Edwards, the FB. 14-7.

After a 3 and out by them, we strike quickly ending in a 26 yard TD pass to Prater. 21-7.

Edwards is having a breakout game. We are finally getting him into the offensive flow out of the backfield. Should have used him more against Washington. We are up 28-7 on a long TD catch and run by Edwards.

We hit a 48 yard FG to end the half. 31-7 and we get the ball back.

Barkley to Woods for a 6 yard TD for the 1st drive of the 2nd half. 38-7. His day will be done soon.

Patrick Hall with 2 big runs and a TD run early in the 4th. 45-7.

Torin Harris fails to pick off the ball early in the drive, and Prince completes a 4th and goal pass from the 1 to Randall Carroll for a TD. Down 7-0. That drive used up half of the 1st quarter.

Trying what I proposed in the NCAA thread. I will lock into receivers with QB's with low awareness like Reid has in his start. Actually, he isn't bad at a 76, but I will have to wait 2 seconds before switching my receiving targets.

Despite locking onto targets, Reid is perfect on his first drive. When his first target wasn't open, he scrambled for time or to gain some yardage and he completed every pass including a 12 yard TD to Prater. Tied at 7.

Sheesh, Price to Carroll for a 19 yards on a 4th and 17 from our 28. A few players later, McDonald with a pick in the endzone.

Baxter with a 31 yard run to end a 7 play 80 yard drive. 14-7, midway through the 2nd.

Prince with another TD pass to end a quick drive. Tied at 14.

We make a 35 yard FG as the half expires. 17-14.

Halftime: We lead 17-14 and we get the ball back.

Midway through the 3rd, Baxter finishes off our 2nd drive of the half with a 5 yard TD run. 24-14.

Demetrius Wright with a pick 6. 31-14, 3 minutes left in the 3rd.

Franklin with a 4 yard TD late in the 3rd. 31-21.

Reid to Woods for a 42 yard TD. 38-21, early in the 4th.

Reid with a 32 yard TD run midway through the 4th. 45-21. That run was magic and really shows what he brings to the team.

Reid with a long scramble sets up a 5 yard TD run by Hall. 52-21.

We will be playing 10-2 Michigan in the Rose Bowl. Interesting match up. Barkley is probable for the game, and will play one last game as a Trojan.

We force a 3 and out and then march down the field aided by two big catches by Woods. Baxter runs it in from the 1. 7-0 lead.

Michigan's returner fumbles the kickoff, another player picks it up and tries to run with it.. he fumbles it.. Ambles picks it up and runs it into the endzone for a TD. 14-0.

We force a 3 and out. Barkley with a few nice throws to get us inside the 10, then Baxter runs it in from the 8. 21-0 late in the 1st.

Best defensive effort all year..

We settle for a 25 yard FG on our next drive. 24-0, early in the 2nd.

Demetrius Wright with a pick on their 1st pass of the next drive. Our corners are finally playing up to their abilities! We miss a 45 yard FG.

Baucham with a pick!

Barkley to Woods for a 14 yard TD. That is Woods 17th and that breaks the record of Big Mike Williams from 2005.

Michigan with a screen pass to the HB to make it 31-7 at the end of the half - 20 seconds left.

I spoke too quickly.. Woods returns the kickoff 99 yards for a TD!!! 38-7.

Halftime: We lead 38-7 and we get the ball to start the 2nd half.

Baxter fumbles his first carry and Michigan recovers. Our defense holds them to a 3 and out and they miss the 42 yard FG attempt.

Defenses control the 3rd quarter, but late in the quarter Michigan puts together a long drive ending in a 1 yard TD run by Michael Cox. 38-14.

Late in the quarter, Barkley to Woods for a 44 yard TD. 45-14. That will be the end of the game for our 1st units.

Midway through the 4th, Reid with a 22 yard TD run on a QB keeper. Kid is electric! 52-14.

Michigan makes it 52-21 with a quick strike drive through the air.

Pearson recovers the onside kick attempt.

We win the game 52-21.

In the 1st week of recruiting, we turn a WR who was a soft commit to UCLA for a few weeks and get him to commit to USC instead:

Kevin McGrew is #15 in the country and is a 4 star WR who is 6'1 161. He has top notch speed but so-so accleration. He does have good hands.

During the 4th week of offseason recruiting, we get 5 star DE David Wheeler. He is the #3 DE in the class. He is from Clifton, AZ. He is 6'5 225 and is a very quick player with good finesse moves.

We have the #1 class by far with 8 5 star players, 10 4 star players, and 2 3 star players.

The rest of the classes:

2. Ohio State 5-7-5
3. Texas 2-13-3
4. Miami 5-4-9
5. Tenn 0-11-10-0-2
6. Penn State 0-9-11-3-1
7. Pitt 1-8-10-1-0
8. Alabama 2-10-2
9. Auburn 1-9-7-0-2
10. UCLA 0-10-8-2-1

We got the #1 and #2 players in the nation this class in HB Marlon McDaniel and Athlete Tommy Wilkinson.

We also got the #9 player, WR Matt Burke, #11 HB Robert Smith, and #12 SS Tim Douglas, #14 in DT Derek Tremblay, #20 in DE Lamar O'Connor, and #28 in DE David Wheeler. Quite the collection of high end talnet.

We have 5 more players in the top 100.
