And that would have been three picks by Peyton

That was a nice drive by the Colts. I had said this earlier but I look forward to great things from Luck and the Colts over the next 10 years or so, hopefully.

Let's bring in Mike Carey to tell us what the call won't end up being

Me too. I would tend to agree with the ESPN article that compared Luck to more of a Favre than the second coming on Manning. Would tend to agree, he's got a cannon arm and the belief any throw is possible. Yet I think he's got his own sense of intelligence and leadership that make him unique. Glad to have him.

If Pereira and Carey have open bidding to see which company gets them, how much more do you pay Pereira?

Wonder if teams begin to back off of Adam Gase after this offensive meltdown?

I bristle at comparing Luck to Favre but then I know that Luck can force throws and he does need to cut down on INTs.

That'll drop after tonight's game. I mean he's still good, but hasn't been great in the playoffs. He's right in the mix of the other good modern day QBs. Not up there with Rodgers and Brees though.

I thought both picks today were basically punts. They were both shots on 3rd and long that didn't hurt the Colts. Teams should do that more often.

Luck is IMO a smarter Farve. if Indy can build a well rounded team around him he could win 3+ superbowls. but Indy never built a rounded team around Manning so i wouldnt count on it happening

He didn't last week and just looked like a great quarterback. Today he's forced a couple deep but overall has played pretty well. The key is getting a running game that can help. Luck has yet to throw less than 40 passes in any playoff game.

I think that will be the difference between Grigson and Polian. Polian banked on Manning getting leads and winning with edge rushers. Grigson has gone out to get corners, lineman, etc. to build a complete team. He did whiff on Richardson, but Grigson overall has made some smart moves (Josh Freeman, Arthur Jones, etc)

Now this is some bad play calling - but what else can you do when Peyton can't throw more than 15 yards downfield today

I'll admit, I didn't think the Colts would win this one, unless Peyton reverted to early career playoff form.

I'm of two minds, I hate to see Manning leave the game on this note but it seems obvious that his skills have declined.

For a guy on the decline, throwing for over 4700 yards in a season is pretty damn good.

Something definitely happens the last 6 weeks physically with him. His arm had no juice at all on any throws and his accuracy dwindled

Yeah, I agree. But most of that comes from screens and pick plays. Once a defense concentrated and took those away, Manning didn't have the arm strength and accuracy to win by going over the top.

Anyone who says that hasn't watched his last 6 games. It is obvious he has lost a lot. Seemingly happened overnight.

Manning averaged 4.2 yards per pass attempt today.

I was hoping they'd have to bring Ostweiler in to throw a hail Mary.

I'm just wondering if the Broncos would truly be that bad off if they turned it over to another QB, with Anderson, Thomas, Thomas, Sanders and Welker at the skill positions?

Which would be put him in the third group if compared to Brees and Rodgers (with 6 wins and a little above .500). Flacco, Ben and Eli would be in the second tier and then we have Brady.

Hard to say, Peyton has a habit of making the people around them look better than they truly are.

Hate to say it but I agree. When a QB hits that wall, they tend to hit it hard. Favre had his great year and completely fell apart the year after.

I'm with the others that said they didn't think the Colts could do it. New England is a bigger test. Maybe Brady isn't what he used to be, but he's not quite a shell of his former self either. A Belichick will have something up his sleeve

I think Welker declined a little this year, but there's definitely a solid core in Denver. Can Ostweiler step in and take over though? I think Manning stays one more year, but Denver needs to take a page out of the last Elway years and go run heavy and allow Manning's play action ability to shine. I think he can still win, but he can't be the 40+ playoff passer anymore.

I think arm strength is a huge question here though. If he doesn't have the arm strength to go deep, defenses are simply going to flood that fifteen yard area from the line of scrimmage.

Well if that was Peyton's last game, I suppose it would be appropriate its against the Colts. I think the weather has certainly affected him some of these last few games though.

Happy the Colts won though if for no other reason than we are spared the enormous amount of hype and replays of past Peyton/Brady matchups. Hope they keep it going for one more game and take out New England too.

I do think the NFL needs to look at the going to the ground rule. Bryant had control of the football for five yards.

It just seems insane that it wasn't a catch.

This is interesting to me

The 40-degree temperature at kickoff actually fell in Luck's favor - he's 5-1 in games 40 and cooler, while Manning is 12-14 in such situations.
