Prediction: the Bruins will be golfing soon. Dennis Wideman will be packing his bags a short time later.

Random fun story...
A Phoenix Coyote blogger made an offhand comment about throwing a snake on the ice (as a counter to the Wings fans throwing octopus). Because we have nothing else going on this time of year, a few Leaf fans decided to take him at face value and spread the word on twitter. A few hours later, the "Throw The Snake" movement has already been covered on Canadian TV news, and the Coyotes have been forced to issue a statement threatening to eject any fans who throw snakes. This is not over. There will be snakes on the ice in Game One.

While it's tough to hold out hope with no Savvy or Seidenberg, I do think Buffalo is probably the B's best chance of getting past the first round. But yeah, can't wait to see Wides gone! |

Forgive me, Father. It's been...I don't exactly remember how many years but it's been a LONG time...since I've posted in a Stanley Cup thread. That is my sin. Thank you, Father.

I'll start this part of the program now, in case I am not on before games begin tomorrow.
Caps over Habs in 6 - I think Halak somehow steals one game, and Montreal able to win one on their own, like 6-5, but that is it. Flyers over Devils in 7 - Maybe wishful thinking to eliminate one of the two teams the Pens just could not beat. Feel alot less confident with Boucher though. Sabres over Bruins in 6 - Real close to going the other way on this as well, but one upset is enough. All these games will be close with Miller and Rask, but Buffalo just a few more scorers. Penguins over Senators in 5 - HOMER ALERT! I have enough confidence that, at least for this round, Pittsburgh can flip that switch. Even if Philips/Volchenkov/Fisher etc can slow Crosby, Malkin, in the games he played the last 2 weeks, was on fire. Sharks over Avs in 5- Mainly cause I never predict a sweep. Colorado just hung on, and the Sharks can't be that bad in the playoffs forever, right? Blackhawks over Predators in 6 - unless Niemi/Huet totally implode, I can't see Nashville scoring enough to stay close. Canucks over Kings in 6 - LA struggled badly in the last 15 or so games, but of the lower seeds, they have the most talent (I don't count Detroit as the lower seed, even if they are) Wings over Coyotes in 6 - I'd love to see the Coyotes continue this, everyone likes the underdog. But Detroit is too talented and too hot.

Caps over Habs in 5. The Habs played the Caps pretty tight this year, but I don't think they have enough to push this too far. Devils over Flyers in 6. Broduer trumps Boucher. Sabres over Bruins in 6. I don't Boston can generate enough offense over the long haul. Penguins over Senators in 5. WEST Sharks over Colorado in 5. I think Colorado is a bit spent at this point. I have a hard time believing in San Jose, but they played really well down the stretch and should win this round. Blackhawks over Predators in 6. The Predators are a decent squad, but I think Chicago has it. Canucks over Kings in 5. LA is a bit up in the air right now with their goaltending situation. Wings over Coyotes in 6. Hrmm. This is exactly the type of team that has knocked Detroit out in the past. Solid goaltender with a solid defensive system. Howard is still unproven when it comes to the playoffs. Still, I have to think that experience and overall talent should be enough. At least, I hope. I hope I am wrong with some of these (except that last one).

Caps over Montreal in 5 Pens over the Sens in 6 Sabers over the Bruins in 5 Devils over the Flyers in 6 The West would be just a guessing match because the only teams I really follow are Detroit and Chicago and I think they both win this round. |

I don't know if Bylsma was really outcoached, as Clousten did what everyone expected-- match Philips and Volchenkov against Crosby.
All week the talk was the 4th line as a unit would get little ice time, with Crosby taking an extra shift in an effort to disrupt Ottawa's matchups. I don't think it happened once. MAF...meh. The Neil goal was soft. The Ruutu one you'd like to see him stop, but it was a 2 on 1 played terribly by the rest of the team-- nobody covers for Letang who was in deep, then Eaton doesn't take Ruutu AND let's the pass get across.

Good news is the Sabres get Connolly back for tomorrow night. Hecht and Stafford are likely out. Youngster and AHL rookie of the year Tyler Ennis, who has been making a case to stay since his call-up just a short while ago, will suit up tomorrow.

Honestly though, the Devils held the Flyers to 13 shots...1 shot coming after the Flyers 2nd goal. NJ carried the play the entire 3rd period. Boucher was the difference and the Flyers did a good job collapsing in their own zone.

After having to endure my pastor getting back at people for being bombarded by Wings fans last year as he is a Pittsburgh fan(he's not from there, his parents got him into Pittsburgh teams), I'm just a wee bit happy about the Pens losing.

lolsharks. Way too early for this but Thornton, Marleau, Heatley line no points and get badly outhustled for the Avs last goal. They better come out fast in the next game or the natives will get very restless.

You could've bought tickets on stubhub last night for the Jersey game for $25 to $35 or the Devils were running this offer...

Every team I picked to win their respective series lost last night. Good thing I didn't predict any sweeps.
