2012 - College Preseason

Clyde Harp - cmp - Michigan State

After only getting 8 tackles last season Harp is looking for a much expanded role. Harp is the 2nd outside linebacker on the Spartans roster and will be getting the start week in and week out.

Rob Nielsen - Coffee Warlord - UCLA

Nielsen looks like he will get the nod in a very close battle for the starting job. Nielsen has terrific potential and could be a 4 year starter for the Bruins.

Izulde Jestor - Izulde - Wisconsin

After losing his redshirt towards the end of last season, Jestor starts this season as the Badgers third running back. He is behind two very talented backs, both have one more year after this left with the team.

Will Brown - vex - Tennessee

Brown will the Vols backup running back again this season as he backs up one of the nation's top running backs. Brown is extremely talented though and Tennessee will find ways to get him the ball.

Chas Swaggs - Swaggs - Pitt

Swaggs finds himself as the 3rd cornerback on Pitt's roster but should find some playing time. One of the players ahead of him will graduate following this season.

Brian Butts - Ragone - UCLA

Butts will be the Bruins 4th running back and will hope to get a carry or two throughout the season. He may have to ride the bench for a year or two with a talented group of backs on the Bruins roster.

Jace Hunter - Travis - Notre Dame

Jace's ratings took a huge jump this season as he will start for his second year with the Irish. By the time he's gone at Notre Dame he will have set a few records. Hunter was the NCAA's Top Offensive Freshmen last season.

Moe Farley - kobe360x - Texas

After redshirting last season Farley has been handed the reins to the Longhorns offense this season. Texas is coming off a 5-6 season. Farley is one of the most talented first year signal callers in the entire NCAA.

David Gonzalez - kingfc22 - UCLA

Gonzalez finds himself as the Bruins 3rd receiver this season. He will looking for Nielsen to find him for a few passes a game.

Dean Hoo - law90026 -Florida State

Hoo will be Florida State's kicker this season. He beat out a talented junior to get the job.

Deion Prescott - MrBug708 - Notre Dame

Prescott will redshirt.

Craig Ingram - DanGarion - Stanford

Ingram will redshirt.

Andrew Foley - PackerFanatic - Texas A&M

Foley will redshirt.

Dave Russ - Tasan - Texas A&M

Russ will redshirt.

Max Power - johnnyshaka - Florida State

Power will redshirt.

Nick Thomas - MacroGuru - Arizona State

Thomas will get to start at safety right away for the Sun Devils.

Wahoo McDaniel - wahoomac - Miami (FL)

McDaniel will redshirt.

Ches O'Peake - chesopeake - Maryland

O'Peake will redshirt.

Mike Ritschel - General Mike - Notre Dame

Ritschel will redshirt.

Also boo to redshirting. I can't believe the LBs at MD are so much better that I wouldn't get much playing time. Bring back the Fridge!

You'll be alright. Safeties are generally rated much lower overall than other positions. You're the sixth best safety in the entire country.

Are you a QB?
Are you a WR?
Are you a RB?
Do you turn down booster gifts?

If you can answer no to all four questions, then you may be right for UCLA!

Clyde Harp - cmp - Michigan State

Michigan State started off strong right away in week 1 taking care of Washington State, 49-0. Harp got the start and recorded 3 tackles.

Rob Nielsen - Coffee Warlord - UCLA

Terrific way to start a career for Nielsen. He threw the ball 23 times, completed 16 of them for 200 yards and 3 touchdowns and UCLA destroyed UConn, 59-7.

Izulde Jestor - Izulde - Wisconsin

Wisconsin beat Florida in a close one, 27-24. Jestor didn't receive a carry but returned a kick for 21 yards. This might be a tough year for him with some strong backs ahead of him.

Will Brown - vex - Tennessee

Tennessee had an easy day with a 56-6 win over New Mexico State. Brown carried the ball 7 times for 97 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also caught a pass for 6 yards. Tennessee needs to find a way to get him more carries.

Chas Swaggs - Swaggs - Pitt

Tough loss for Pitt, as they fall in the opener, 31-21 to Penn State. Swaggs had a solid game as he had 2 tackles and picked off a pass.

Brian Butts - Ragone - UCLA

UCLA beat UConn 59-7 but Butts didn't get off the bench. This may be a tough year for him to get on the field.

Notre Dame squeaked by Purdue, 23-20, as Hunter was 12-24 for 199 yards, 2 touchdowns and a pick. He hopes for a better performance next week.

Moe Farley - kobe360x - Texas

Wow, great game for Farley. Longhorn fans may have a savior. A year after missing a bowl game and going 5-6, Texas is 2-0 after a 52-10 win over North Carolina. Farley, in only his second game was terrific, 14-26 for 294 yards and 5 touchdowns.

David Gonzalez - kingfc22 - UCLA

UCLA destroyed UConn, 59-7. Gonzalez caught 4 passes for 94. Most of his action was well after the game was out of hand.

Dean Hoo - law90026 -Florida State

Florida State rolled over Army, 65-14. Hoo had a good start connecting on all three of his field goal attempts with a long of 41.

4 schools have offered scholarships to Bollea while another has contacted him. Michigan is the early leader as they have the only visit scheduled thus far.

Deacon Palmer - ntndeacon - DE

Palmer has two offers so far from Alabama and Auburn. They are the early leaders.

Dan Ertmann - illinifan999 - QB

Only two schools have sent offers to Ertmann thus far, Southern Miss and Texas. Texas is the early leader but I'm not sure Ertmann will want to back up Farley for the next few years.

Darryl Tovar - wolverine29 - OLB

The North Pole, Alaska native has offers from 3 schools in the Lower 48. Kansas State, Kentucky and Nebraska have sent offers his way.

Tyrone Hughes - RedHawk00 - S

The nation's 3rd best safety has offers from Kentucky, Purdue, Texas and Washington State. No word on a leader as of yet.

John Kastos - kastos - TE

The #2 Tight End in the country has 3 offers. Oklahoma is his early leader but that can change quickly.

Al Mighty - thealmighty - CB

The Bryan Adams High School star has five offers, two from in state, TCU and Texas Tech and also one from an SEC school, Georgia Tech, a Pac 10 school, USC, and a Big Ten school, Wisconsin.

Kuji Chagulia - bbgunn - S

Kuji has no big time offers as of yet. Only Temple has offered. The nation's #6 safety should get some offers from bigger schools soon.

Nick Phillips - msubball - RB

Phillips is a big time recruit, #2 in all of the nation. Alabama, Florida, Kansas State and Southern Miss have all offered. Nick has set up a visit with Florida.

Mike Schaplowsky - collegesportsfansms - QB

Schaplowsky has 4 offers, they are from Ball State, Connecticut, Miami (OH) and Missouri. Mississippi State and Oregon are considering offering him.

Maury Ott - cschex - DE

BYU and Tulane are the first schools to offer Ott. Notre Dame is interested.

Steve Bollea - Steve Bollea - DT

Bollea has 7 offers to consider currently. Two visits have been set up, Georgia Tech and Michigan.

Deacon Palmer - ntndeacon - DE

Alabama and Wisconsin are the leaders currently for Palmer. We'll see if anyone else steps up.

Dan Ertmann - illinifan999 - QB

3 offers for Ertmann with one visit set up. He will be visiting Notre Dame. Does Notre Dame really need another QB though?

Darryl Tovar - wolverine29 - OLB

Committed to Ohio State

Tovar has already made up his mind. He will attend Ohio State.

Tyrone Hughes - RedHawk00 - S

No visits set up for Hughes yet so it's hard to get a clear picture on who is his leader.

John Kastos - kastos - TE

6 offers for Kastos and he has set up one visit, with Wisconsin. Florida State has offered but picked up a really good tight end last season.

Al Mighty - thealmighty - CB

Al has set up visits with three schools. Two Texas schools, Texas and Texas A&M, and then Michigan.

Kuji Chagulia - bbgunn - S

Kuji is visiting Buffalo for his first visit and has 3 total offers. Smaller schools are interested in Chagulia but any would be lucky to get him, he is the nation's 6th best safety.

Florida is the early leader for Phillips. He has 7 offers in all.

Mike Schaplowsky - collegesportsfansms - QB

Schaplowsky has 7 offers and 11 schools have contacted him. His only visit has been to Iowa. It's completely up in the air where he will go.

2012 - Week 7 High School Recruiting

Deacon Palmer
has made his college choice and will stay in state and play for Alabama.

Maury Ott has made his choice, and it may come as a bit of a surprise to some. Despite being looked at by schools such as LSU, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Texas, Ott has chosen to play at Tulane.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry about how PITTiful of a season my school is having. I wonder if I can get a transfer waiver to UCLA.

2012 - Week 8 College Stats

What started out as a great game for Rob Nielsen and the UCLA Bruins, turned sour quickly. Nielsen started the game 8 for 10 for 112 yards and 2 touchdowns in the first half. But late in the 2nd quarter Nielsen was knocked out of the game with a separated shoulder. Early reports are he won't be fully healthy for at least 8 weeks. He could play before that but UCLA will probably be cautious with their young quarterback. He could be back for the bowl game. UCLA won the game 33-25 over Washington State.

While not much of a stat line, Izulde Jestor finally got some carries for the Badgers. It was only 4 carries for 6 yards but at least he got the ball.

Tennessee lost their second game of the season, 27-22 to Kentucky. Big news out of the game though was Tennessee's top running back Robbie Hines going down with a high ankle sprain. He will be out for a few weeks. Will Brown finally got his chance and shined. He received 21 carries and ran for 157 yards and a touchdown. He also caught 3 balls for 34 yards.

Another loss for Pitt as they fall 29-24 to Virginia Tech to fall to 1-5. Chas Swaggs did what he could for the Panthers however by picking off 2 passes.

Solid game for Jace Hunter as Notre Dame moves to 4-1. The sophomore quarterback has been steady all season and was 13-15 for 189 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Moe Farley has been nothing short of spectacular in his freshmen season. As Texas destroyed rival Oklahoma 45-16 to move 6-0 Farley was 21-29 for 326 yards and 5 touchdowns. Texas last season only finished at 5-6. Farley has completely turned them around.

Florida State continued to roll as they moved to 6-0 with a 52-3 thrashing of Wake Forest. Dean Hoo only had one field goal attempt and put that through.

Arizona State dropped to 2-4 with their third straight loss. You can't blame Nick Thomas however as he picked up 7 tackles.
