Computer Upgrade question
I have a compaq presario 7000. I want to upgrade the processor. Is that possible? Its currently a 1.3mhz amd athalon? I just have no idea bout this stuff.

Look at the specs for your motherboard. It will tell you how fast of a processor it supports.

Unless you plan on doing a really minor upgrade, you'll also have to replace the motherboard to suit the new processor.
It's possible but could end up being expensive depending on how much of your stuff is integrated onto your exisiting motherboard (gonna want to get the same stuff on the board, or have to buy seperate cards). As well as heating/cooling issues with your case that you have now.. Newer processors run much hotter now days (depending on what you get)... and your power supply could end up being insufficient on your case also... |

I bought a COmpaq once...the moment I wanted to upgrade it, I came to the decision that I would never buy Compaq again.
