Wil Haygood, Investigative Journalism's Role, and More
Balled my eyes out tonight hearing Wil Haygood speak . Just wondering what the role in investigative journalism is in today's culture, in finding the stories that are worth merit and digging into problems and such. With the nature of the business changing, where will the field be? Where would we be?

For better or for worse, it's probably going to have to be a Buzzfeed/Bleacher Report kind of model where the SEO clickbait garbage finances the investigative pieces.

Maybe not the best example but I'd be curious to see if Yahoo's college sports reporting helped them and by how much. They're broken most of quite a few of the recent major college scandals (USC and Miami came to mind).
I think it can bump the stature of your entire organization but it's something where you will be able to tease out the ROI on a simple spreadsheet. However, as it's becoming more and more socially acceptable for corporations to chase profits and be absolved from any ethical responsibility, I think it will continue to decline in quantity SI

Your thread has 3 replies so far, the Amanda Knox thread has 171, Celebrity MILF's 36... sadly you can draw your own conclusion.
