I'm actually surprised that it's only going to take ten days. I would have thought a month, easy.

530 episodes. If you skip commercials, you figure you're getting 20-25 minutes runtime per episode, I'd guess? That's...let's see. 2.4 episodes per hour, or 57.6 per day. That gets you to 9 days, 4 hours, 48 minutes. Add the movie in there, you're up to 9 days, 6 hours, 15 minutes if no episode runs longer than 25 minutes.
A quick google search suggests that they usually split the difference between my 20-25 minute window and came in at closer to 22 1/2 minutes. Taking off 2 1/2 minutes per episode shaves nearly a day off the length of the marathon. If you've got 18 hours of dead time on the high end or 40 hours on the low-end, that gives FX time to air documentaries on each season in between. With 25 seasons, if there's no advertising, you could do a 90 minute documentary per season and a 2 1/2 hour retrospective on the franchise as a whole. |

It will also be nice when FX rolls out their Simpsons streaming site , I think in October. You can stream all the episodes now illegally but the quality varies a lot.
