But is it unusual or is it normal for any of these volcanos to be active, what's the impact and/or severity? The article GrantDawg refers to, it pretty much downplays this as "nothing unusual". Krakatoa apparently has an eruption almost every month.

It looks like it is a thing that happens but most people don't realize. What I found fascinating was all 4 went off, but the article said it was unrelated. "Just a normal day in the ring of fire."

Screw Krakatoa, Tambora is the one that made an entire summer go away.

Relative to potential eruptions there, the linked video of Krakatoa is showing an extremely minor eruption FWIW. I looks cool as hell in slo-mo, but that's a minor little burp.

What I read on this is it was the biggest one in two years from Krakatoa. Noteworthy, but not a crisis.

On the Volcanic Explosivity Index it was almost certainly a 1. The big one back in 1883 was a 6, Mount St. Helens in 1980 was a 5 and the biggest possible eruptions (such as Yellowstone) are an 8.

Noticing this thread title still on the first page, somehow I had to think of this old thread: Icelandic Volcano eruption shuts down European Air Travel - Front Office Football Central

And while reading that thread, I remembered that one of two FOFC'er I met was the side effect of that eruption in 2010. It didn't get mentioned here at FOFC, but both of us were in IHOF at that time.
Weird that coincidentally that meeting was exactly 10 years ago.
