So I couldn't sleep all night, and at around 5:30AM I turned on the TV. I had it on a channel that apparently shows Saved by the Bell that early. But it was an episode where they were doing some morning TV show... I was all groggy and tired, and saw Zack and someone else (Jessie?) sitting at the desk, with the background saying something like "Good Morning TV." Let me tell you, I was damn confused for a bit there. Since when does Zack host a morning show? lol.

That was the episode that aired at 7:30 on TBS this morning. AKA Screech's Secret Sauce.

I don't think I'd go near a product called "Screech's Secret Sauce." Gah.

Saw this on the Dilbert.com blog today and immediately thought of this thread (the post is written by Scott Adams, creator of Dilbert):

I got to the show early and decided to walk around and see if I ran into anyone famous. I've been to a few of these conventions and you can usually count on seeing a minor celebrity or two. To me, celebrity watching is like bird watching, but better because celebrities rarely crap on your head.

The last time I went to this convention, a number of years ago, I talked to Oliver North and saw Heidi Fleiss from a few feet away. Not bad. But on this day all I saw was Jackie Collins. She's famous enough, but I've run into her twice in LA on other trips - once at a restaurant, and once on a TV set. So that was disappointing. I was hoping for something new. And I wondered if Jackie has a house of if she just wanders around in public hoping I see her.

As I rounded a corner, I noticed a long line of people who were obviously waiting for a well-known author. I had about 15 minutes to spare, so I jumped in the line, hoping to see the celebrity before I had to go do my job. I listened to the people ahead of me and tried to figure out who I was waiting for. Man, was I disappointed. They were in line waiting for me. Luckily I am virtually invisible in crowds, so no one noticed me slink away and go to the head of the line to sign books.

The next morning, at the Burbank airport, I was in a gift shop buying a Snickers. A woman asked the guy next to me if she could take a picture with him. It was Mario Lopez. He was flipping through a People magazine, presumably looking for pictures of himself. So I guess that counts as a decent celebrity sighting. But Mario was flying Southwest Airlines, so I couldn't get too impressed. Not that I am competitive, but my boarding pass was an A3, and I doubt he could top that.

When "Saved by the Bell" premiered in the late 1980s, tweens and teens alike had a reason to get out of bed on Saturday morning. Although the squeaky clean storylines weren't as scintillating as the scandals of today's teen hits like "The O.C." or "Gossip Girl," Bayside High School's familiar faces continue to strike a chord for a generation of teens who can recite every word of the namesake theme song. With a few former cast members returning to the spotlight, it felt like a good time to do a Bayside blast from the past.

Check out those photos!

The one where Slater's Lizard, Artie dies, on friday. That had to be one of the most embarrassing ones to watch.

Is that where Slater is dressed as a giant lizard and does a dumb voice and sticks his tongue out a lot?

Yes! When the rest of the gang is in a lineup at the police station.

If I was Mario Lopez and saw that I would be so upset that I called that acting.

Screech is going to write a tell all book about the back stage exploits of the cast during the run:

Screech Writes ‘Saved by the Bell’ Tell-all -- Vulture -- Entertainment & Culture Blog -- New York Magazine

Quote:
Sometimes a book deal comes along that you never knew you were waiting for, but, once it's announced, you realize it has been your secret wish all along. Which explains our reaction to the news that Dustin Diamond, whose high-pitched nerdy exploits as Samuel "Screech" Powers figured prominently in nearly thirteen (!) years of Saved by the Bell incarnations (plus that infamous sex tape), has jumped on the tell-all bandwagon. Behind the Bell, which Gotham Books preempted from Objective Entertainment's Jarred Weisfeld, promises to detail "sexual escapades among cast members, drug use, and hardcore partying," and for those of us who spent untold hours in our formative years memorizing "I'm So Excited" and the entire back catalog of Zack Attack, this is the greatest book deal in the history of the universe.

I know somebody who was somewhat involved with the show, and all I can tell you is that the black nerd with the gravelly voice fucked pretty much everybody.

That would include Zac, Screech, Slater, and of course Mr. Belding. Especially Mr. Belding.

Did anyone else catch Mark-Paul Whatshisname do a complete interview with Jimmy Fallon in character as Zack Morris? The only thing Fallon's show has ever done that I have actually laughed at. He did several "time-outs," pulled out the big cell phone, and even did a musical performance as "Zack Attack."

This is apparently part of an ongoing Fallon skit to get the whole cast on the show for a reunion.

If you are Zach, are you still living out in California?

Yeah, I've lived out there for about 20 years now. I was actually raised in Indiana, but I moved out west with my two friends and my high school principal.

I DVR'ed this only because I Have a crush on Kelly Ripa, but the Zack Morris really was brilliant.

That video was hilarious. Though the show is painful to watch now, I'd love to see a "class reunion."
