Tournament bonus stays in the calculation as part of the total points for the season it was earned. Weighting the seasons comes last. Figure out the total points for each season with that season's tournament bonus included then apply the weights.

Bah, I hate 5 day tourneys. The bracket takes up too much space. I'll add that in at some point when I take a break from the pro game though.

Heavy Reign,

Would it be at all possible to show the Academic Level for each player on the "Training Schedule" screen (perhaps right next to their name)? When I'm setting my training, I often have to click through to see what their Academics level is and then go back out to adjust accordingly. It's not a big deal, but it would make the screen flow a little smoother.

Thanks!

I believe it is on the screen. Pretty sure it is one of the last categories on the right.

Yeah, I saw that after I posted. I've never been sure what "Cur" stands for, but I guess that the person's academics in number form.

Thanks!! That made the most sense to me as well, while I was playing with the numbers, but just wanted to be sure I was on the right path.

The only thing I could ever come up with is "Curriculum." HR could you put my mind at ease with this question?

Was basically an abbreviation for Current because it had the current academic rating and I couldn't come up with anything better at the time.

And pardon me for not knowing off the top of my head, but does the current build support a 15-team tourney?

Not sure there will be another 15-team league in college hoops anytime soon after this year. I'd say that a 15-team format may not be worth the trouble. But thanks a bunch for the 14-team update, HR.

Good point. With Rutgers and the Catholic Seven bolting, the Big East isn't likely to get back to 15. The ACC, however, will hit 15 when Louisville replaces Maryland and Notre Dame joins for basketball.

Interesting -- didn't know that but this crap is so hard to keep up with. I wouldn't be surprised if the ACC does something to get off that 15 number before it ever comes to fruition.

I'll get the 15 game tourneys added on the next posted build. It is just a matter of editing the 16 team stuff so not too big of a time investment.

So the most recent season counts 100%, the previous season counts 90%, then 80% and so on. The total of these prestiges is then divided by 5.5.

Each season the team is assigned a prestige level based on how they did in the regular season in conference as well as how they did in the postseason. Points for the regular season depend on the prestige of your conference.

1: -5 to 35
2: 10 to 50
3: 20 to 60
4: 30 to 75
5: 45 to 85

While it isn't exact, first place in the conference gets you max points and last place gets you the minimum points in the range. If you win your conference tourney, the game will consider your team as no worse than the 3rd place finisher.

You then get bonus points depending on the round you advance to the post season. Championship tourney gives the following points by last round played:

1: 10 points and minimum of 55 total points.
2: 13 points and minimum of 70 total points.
3: 16 points and minimum of 80 total points.
4: 20 points and minimum of 85 total points.
5: 25 points and minimum of 90 total points.
6: 30 points and minimum of 100 total points.
7: 50 points and minimum of 125 total points.

Other tourneys give a much smaller bonus ranging from 1 to 15 points.

BTW, cadmus and others, I'm working on this. Done a lot of data entry already. I think what I might do is enter the criteria HR mentions (conference standing, conference tournament wins, postseason tournament bids, postseason tournament results, a couple other things), add some formula placeholders if you want to weight things differently, and share.

HR, any reason the Import CSV for player roster always yields an error message when you go beyond 15 players in the file? I can understand if it were a limit on the rosters for each team but to limit the entire roster file to just 15 players seems wrong. I just got back into playing around with the roster editor after finding a site that yields a CSV output for stats. I'm using that to see just how long it would take to do a team and it literally took me about 20-30 minutes to do Kentucky's roster from last year. This makes using the import csv a lot more feasible for me now but if the limit on the file is 15 total spots then it is a no go.

I get a Run Time Error 6 Overflow message and a Run Time 62 Error which says something about data beyond end of field. I am careful to not enter anything beyond the parameters set by the game though. Any thoughts?

Thanks Brian!

I'm sure someone has brought this up before but is there any way possible to have a smaller roster size than the 15 that the game defaults? When I import a 12 man Kentucky roster, the game auto generates 3 more fictional players. Any workaround for that?

There is no way to prevent that currently in the game as far as I can recall.

dola--

How many undefeated teams have you guys seen in your runs? I'm running a dynasty where players aren't allowed to declare early...this has created some rather amazing teams, and great rivalries. A few teams have gone into the NCAAs undefeated, only to lose.

However, Pitt, ten years into the run, managed to pull it off. And they beat the unquestioned #2 team in the country, UCLA, to do it. Their only real tests were at Nova (55-53, trailed most of the game), against 10-22 St. John's (78-77), and Rutgers in the first round of the BE tournament (63-58). They went 18-0 against the top 50, ranked sixth in points nationally, first in field goal percentage, and third nationally in defense and fourth in OPP FG%.

The most impressive thing...seven of their top nine are underclassman. They'll easily be #1 next season.

How hard would it be to have the HTML output put up your opponents record on the season schedule part of a teams page? Even if it was their current record it would be nice to look at your teams schedule to see how teams you played turn out during the season. I know there aren't that many online leagues but for the ones that exist it would be nice to click the team pages when you are suppose to be working without having to have the game open.

Recently installed a new SSD, so blew out all my old stuff. How do i find my license for FBCB? Just went through about 50 email searches and couldn't find reference to it (tried 'elicense', 'esellerate', etc.)

Any ideas where I could find my license?

Average, at best. I was thinking more along the lines of...you have formulas, but need real life data lookup and entry!

For reference, here's HR's post about his formula:

7: 50 points and minimum of 125 total points.

Other tourneys give a much smaller bonus ranging from 1 to 15 points.

So, horizontally, the columns I have for a team in any given season are:

Conference Prestige - Conference Finish - Conference # of Teams - Conference Tourney Winner? (1/0) - Postseason Tournament (1 for NCAA, 2 for NIT, 3 for CBI/CIT) - Postseason Tournament Round

So the formulas would sync these data up with HR's results.

HR, i have a small issue with teams not spending their timeouts. I routinely finish games with the other team having 3 or 4 left. Occurs mostly in games where a team goes up big (20 or so) and then that leads stays the same with no big runs, but also happens in close games.
I know we earlier had an issue with teams being out of timeouts too early, seems that whatever you adjusted turned the issue to the other end of the spectrum.

Not a huge issue, but noticeable (especially if you try to coax big minutes out of guys with stamina issues )

I just won the national championship this was kind of my swan song season I was going to retire my coach this season at age 76. I started this league in 1936 with no 3pts to going through 2 coaches 3 pt line and multiple national tournaments. I have to say this player below was one I had the most hope for ala maybe the next Lebron. Sadly his scoring never caught up with everything else and coming into his senior season I recruited a ball dominated SF Freshman who was projected to go top 5 in the draft. Sadly Guillory went undrafted.

I was just about to come here and rave about the different sort of players you get and how you can use them and my main example is a PF very similar to yours and was actually the main reason why i took the job (came after his redshirt-injury year) :

I took over the team after his freshman season (he aparently got an injury redshirt. And him not making All League teams is kind of understandable, as UCLA and Stanford both featured 20/10 guys at PF the last 2 seasons.

I have him as a go-to guy btw, i absolutely love that the game actually does give him touches without having him take a ton of shots. I only have him and a 5ī11 scorer/shooter SG/PG set as go to guys and surrounded them with a bunch of shooters and a kick ass pass-first PG.
With my main scorer Stine (20+ PPG) now out for a month (due back right around the NCAA tournament) itīll be a nice little experiment on how good an offense can run with a Point Forward at itīs hub. First game without Stine he scored just 5 points, but had 9 boards, 8 assists and 8 blocks.

Hereīs my team :

I always get excited if I get the oppurtunity to play with a Point Forward they are so rare yet so satisfying to play with because they can do so many things.

After oodles of data entry, I got sick of trying to reproduce HR's prestige formula. I went and grabbed the last 10 years' worth of Pythagorean records from KenPom and weighted them, with good results. I updated teams and conferences. I'm going to bed for tonight, but will play-test this set-up as soon as I have time to kill at home again and, if all goes well, will publish it thereafter.

Awesome!! I attempted to to reproduce HR's prestige formula as well, and after doing a couple of conferences, I didn't really feel the results were all that accurate (probably my interpretation of how many points a team should receive within their conference prestige range). If your method works, please do publish, and know that your hard work will be much appreciated!!

Okey doke. After a rigorous [s]1 season[/s] 4 seasons of play-testing, this set-up appears RTE-free. It's the confirmed 2014 alignment of teams, with updated team prestige calculated as described above (and conference prestige tweaks as I saw fit). Looks like Fordham and TCU are your best challenges.

Enjoy! Let me know if you run into stuff.
