We also had a brief league with the Blood Bowl version but it fizzled out quickly.

I picked up South Park: Stick of Truth a few days ago when it was on sale for about $14. I can't remember the last time I laughed so much playing a game. Definitely recommended for anyone who has even a passing interest in the show.

Well I was finally able to grab Divinity: Original Sin on sale - only 33% off but better than nothing.

I'm waiting to see a bigger discount on Divinity. I have too many games to get through right now, so I don't mind waiting because it would just sit uninstalled on my system anyway.

The Men of War series in on sale today. My personal favorite (because it was the most stable version, IMO) was Men of War: Vietnam. For $2.85, it's good fun.

The other day I picked up Prison Architect and Project Zomboid.

Earlier before the sale ended on them I picked up Shadowrun: Dragonfall and Shovel Knight

Yes, I believe I got nearly 100 hours of extremely enjoyable gameplay. I had high expectations and they were easily eclipsed.

Enjoying Lords of Zulima - an old school rpg similar to Might and Magic from a 3rd party perspective. Maybe not the best game I've ever played but enjoyable.

Pandora 50% off both First Contact and complete edition.. I recommend the CE for $17.49 (about 18 hours left)

It's not a super deep 4x game, but it's a lot of fun for those who just want a Civ/Civ BE type game that has a much quicker pace to it. I get through a game in about 2-3 days in the evenings. A few hours here and there on a small map. Ramp up the hostility of the aliens though so it really puts you in defensive mode early on.

I can't recommend this. It's a middling 4x game with limited tactics, bad AI and little personality. It's not horrible - I'd probably get it over Beyond Earth because it's a lot cheaper - but there are better ways to spend your money.

YMMV.

To each his own.. I don't like Distant Worlds.. but I know you love it.

I'd say it's improved since release though and with so many games to play, it fills my 4x niche when I have an hour or so to burn. Endless Legend is great (one of the best 4x games I've ever played), but I need time set aside to play it since I tend to have to think about too many things.

Fair enough and it has improved since release. I just find it lacking, though I didn't buy the expansion.

The expansion is decent, especially being able to form the water tiles. Diplomacy.. while not super deep, has been enhanced a bit and being able to deploy minefields help keep your cities at least somewhat protected.

I just really like how quick a game goes.. that's the whole appeal to me. It doesn't appeal to some 4x vets.. but for those looking to see what the 4x genre is all about, this is a good starting point, imho.

New Features
  • Unleash full covert warfare with new Agent units: gather information, steal research, incite riots, and more.
  • Live through the Eclipse of Nashira; a time when new species rise from the depths and espionage is stronger than ever
  • Joining the competition for planetary dominance are The Ambassadors; a brand new faction specialized in diplomacy, intrigue and sabotage.
  • Expand your empire beyond the coastlines: Amphibious Formers can build water improvements, harvest new aquatic flora and even raise landmasses.
  • Deploy minefields from orbit to protect key positions and disrupt enemy supply lines.
  • Enjoy new diplomacy options and a variety of other tweaks and improvements to existing mechanics.

So, I have finally gotten into Endless Legend.

Is it just me or is the normal difficulty very hard. It seems like I keep starting out right next to guys who have armies that are much more powerful early in the game. Does the AI get big boosts even on normal difficulty? Any tips?

Dove in head-first. Picked up:

Wasteland 1 & 2
Divinity: OS
Endless Legend
Steam Marines
Valiant Hearts: TGW

That should keep me busy for most of this year for around $80.

What's it down to? Under the 14.99 I paid for it earlier?

I think with the patches it's enjoyable. I haven't extensively modded it, just a single "total realism" type mod and I've gotten a lot of joy out of my first real playthrough (which I'm still in the middle of).

It's not perfect, there are still blemishes, but if you like the setting I think at that price it's a good buy. I just try to ignore the blemishes frankly and enjoy the broader game.

$5.99 for Endless Space? Worth it?

The whole "card-based" thing with it kinda turned me off when i was reading about it at one point earlier.

Probably. I don't particularly like ES because it seems to me to be lifeless and dull. Then again, I tend to be hard on space 4x games anyway. But at $6 it's worth a shot.

That's easy for me. Morrowind IMO is the best pc game ever. Great main quest and lots of guilds to join. It's over whelming how much stuff there is to do. Ok I could go on and on but as you can see I'm not good at giving reviews.
Both at 6.79 you will get tons of entertainment. Buy em both if ya can.

Thanks, though. I asked on another forum and got the same response. I have another day to debate. I have $30 in my steam wallet and I have my want list paired down to $170

I was looking for a Civ-like game while I wait for Beyond Earth to get some patches and expansions, etc so I got Endless Space during the current sale. I played maybe a couple hours and was just bored by it. Uninstalled it today. Didn't grab me at all, and wasn't motivated to learn any more of its game mechanics.
