What's on your "Ah, fuck-it" list?

I mean, we didn't need a 65" QLED tv. We would've been content with a 55" UHD. But when our 46" dinosaur finally crapped out on us. We went to Costco and saw how NICE and huge 65" QLED screens looked.

Ah, fuck it. We spent twice the amount we had expected. No ragrets.

So what's on FOFC's "Ah, fuck it" list? Past, present, or upcoming?

(a parody thread, but not really)

In the recent past, a small bucket of Dietz and Watson pickle slices. $4.99 is a lot for pickles, but dammit I like my pickles!

I've always wanted to try a bottle of Dom Perignon since James Bond drank it. But I just can't justify $200+ for a bottle of champagne.

SI

It is overrated.

If you like Scotch spend it on a bottle of Johnny Blue instead.

I bought a Fullerton G&L ASAT (their telecaster) a couple years ago. I'm nowhere near a good enough guitar player to own such a fine instrument but... with age comes more money than one had as a youngster. So yeah, fuck it!!

Just bought a $499 monitor. Was going up get something a couple hundred cheaper, but I wanted a g-synch compatible, so I just bit the bullet.

I want a good quality VR headset. A newer HTC Vive model would do, but I know I wont use it and I know it'll give me a headache, but I want one.

Bought a PS3 and NCAA14 even though I really havent played many video games in the last 20 years. Got the itch, probably from a thread on here. Recently had to get it fixed, which probably cost more than a new PS3, but fuck it.

Usually involves electronics. I told myself I'd get a 4k OLED when it hit $1500 and I did 3 years back. I am thinking of getting the Sony WH-1000M4 headphones especially since they added multipoint. $350 price be damned.

Not quite on the level of some of the purchases in here (or some of my own other covid purchases for that matter) but I bought a ~$100 slightly fancy knife for cooking, after kind of hemming-and-hawing over the purchase for months, and rationalizing away every cheaper alternative "well I could get THAT one, but for only $20 more I can get THIS one....but THAT is only $10 cheaper than THIS beauty!" until I finally said "ahhh, fuck it!" and bought the one I had been denying for all those months.

It’s great. It’s a great way to start off the day. I’m hoping it will help strengthen my butt and legs and help me drop some weight, and ultimately allow me to get back into running.

Which knife? My chef's knife is fine, but I could always use a better one

Amazon.com: Zelite Infinity Chef Knife 6 Inch - Alpha-Royal Series - Japanese AUS-10 Super Steel 67-Layer Damascus - Razor Sharp, Superb Edge Retention: Kitchen & Dining

I got the 6" chef's knife. As far as I understand it, they're a Chinese knife maker using Japanese steel with a HRC of 61. It's hard to find that kind of steel at that kind of price.

I've read somewhere that if you really like to cook a good quality knife is well worth it.

We're a small COVID-19 social bubble of three. We hardly go out except to go to the office (the wife, for 1-2 days/week) and quick grocery runs. Any form of outside communication is via FB Messenger and Zoom.

Near the end of summer, we said "Fuck it" and decided to take a small vacation. After reading up on various resorts' safety guidlines, we booked a room at a resort on Mission Bay San Diego. It had its own private beachfront, so the crowds weren't bad at all. Everyone on the property (except on the beach itself) wore masks and kept their distance. I felt pretty safe overall.

I'm glad we did it. It was a much needed escape after months of being cooped up at home.
