Archer Studios (A Hollywood Mogul Dynasty) 2009-

Experience the first six years of our operation here

And now, on with the show:

I walked into my office and I had a message on my phone from one Mr. Paul Allen:

"Sean, its Paul. I really proud of how you've turned things around in the past year. For a while there it looked like I was going to have to fire you, but as long as you keep bringing me those blockbusters, your job is safe. Oh, and good find on those FOFC guys, looks like a lot of talent for you to play with there."

And that was it. I love working for Paul, anyone else would have saw the two billion dollar debt and showed me the door. But Paul, he saw the big picture. I just needed to get warmed up, and I needed him to give me time.

Also, I want some feedback. Do you guys like the trailers or would you rather me go back to the fun film facts? Anything confusing about the format? Give me some info people!

Lastly, I've been recieving ideas lately for movies. That is great, keep them coming. Its hard coming up with original ideas sometimes and I welcome your suggestions.

Screenplay News

“Batman: Two-Faced Coin” still needs some work with the dialog and genre elements so I send it back to get polished some more. “Future’s Power” just needs a slight touch up in the plot twist area, but I send it back none the less. “Runway” is looking good, but I think it needs more character development. “Assassin 3: Insider” needs more main character arc. “Mass Murder” needs a rewrite in the main character arc and plot twist areas.

“Winter of Love” gets a decent first treatment, and it goes back. “Lightning 2: Nighthawk” is a pretty good first draft, but needs some modifications.

I get the writers to work on the Dramatic idea suggested by illinifan called “Vows” and a Qwickshot Dangers vehicle “Punisher”.

"Upheaval" Trailer:

Archer Studios presents

A Robert Zemeckis film

(Camera shows a view of the edge of a small town.)

In the small town of Upheaval, Oklahoma excitement is hard to come by.

(Camera shows an older woman opening a tan envelope.)

Older woman: We may already be millionaires!

(Camera cuts to Anna Paquin sitting atop a parade float wearing a sashe that says "Wheat Princess." A little girl runs up beside her.)

Celebrity is a relative term.

Little girl: Can I have your autograph?

(Camera cuts to Seth Green and Anna Paquin in a field of cows.)

Dates just aren't what they used to be.

Seth Green: What you've never been cow tipping before?

(Camera cuts to Josh Hartnett driving down the road in a beat-up truck.)

And the one person who finally got away from it all, is coming back.

(Camera cuts to Josh Hartnett standing at the counter of a drugstore with a heavily makeuped woman on the other side.)

Woman: Ooh, college boy.

(Camera cuts to Josh Hartnett sitting on a couch with Seth Green and Kieran Culkin on either side of him.)

And now he wished he hadn't.

Green and Culkin: *burp*

Kevin Spacey, who is supposed to be in Assassin 3: Insider, is unavailable for the picture apparently, and hence I haven’t hired him yet. (The man pulls Graham towards him and Stiller steps in.)

Stiller: Let her go.

Man: Oh no, its the singer.

(Camera cuts to Graham and Stiller outside the bar.)

Graham: That was nice of you.

Stiller: Don't think about it. Hey, what are you doing Sunday.

I fall into my chair at work, look out to the sun shinning over the Seattle skyline. Thoughts of failing sequels and bombing big budget films float through my head, and then the call comes.

My secretary pages me, "Sean, there is a reporter on the phone and he wants to talk to you about Batman."

I groan. I really don't need this right now. However, in light of the failure that was "Galactica 2", I feel that any press is good press.

"Put them through."

"Hello Mr. Penxa, I'm John Ralhte and I'd like to ask you some questions about Batman."

"First off, call me Sean."

"Okay, Sean."

"Thanks. So fire away with the questions."

"Well there is really only one. With the non-blockbuster sucess of "Batman: Dark Knight" and the blockbuster sucess of "Batman: Riddle Me This" why did you go back to Kevin Smith as the director of "Batman: Two-Faced Coin"?"

Wow, I've asked myself that question before and always had a reasonable explanation for myself. It is a good question. Anyone who knows me could look at the facts, but they contradict one another. For example:

I am a Kevin Smith fanboy, but I really liked what Tim Burton did on "Batman."

I think Kevin Smith did amazing work with the comics he has written, but I thought "Nightmare Before Christmas" had an awesome dark comic book feel.

So, sure I could say only the things about Kevin Smith and leave out the Tim Burton stuff, but that would be unfair. But here is what comes out:

"I felt that the feel of "Dark Knight" is what I wanted for this next film. While Tim made a wonderful film, and I would be interested in putting him in charge of a future Batman movie again, I felt that I needed to go with the director that was best for the film."

And there it is.

That is the end of the interview, and it is the truth.

[Rant]
As to the people before who were questioning my superhero casting, here is the truth:

For the role of Superman I wrote down on paper a list of five guys I'd want to play Superman. Of this list, only two people, Luke Wilson and Guy Pearce, were in the talent file. I don't remember the whole list, and I threw it out. The only other person I can remember was Dean Cain. So, I considered the options, and I went with the younger of the two which happened to be Luke Wilson. Given a real life casting decision, I'd bring them and the others in for readings and give it to the best of the five.

For the role of Batman, I first had to decide if I wanted to do Year One or Main Era or Dark Knight Returns (I would not do Beyond). DKR went out first because it portrays Superman as a bad guy. So, I chose Main Era. There were only two people on my list this time; Edward Norton and Joaquin Phoenix. Phoenix was a cheaper option so Phoenix got the role.

Okay, so there is good news. I have off today, and I am planning on updating this thread. In addition, I am also going to have a couple polls up soon so you guys can decide who you want to see in certain roles.

Screenplay News

All the screen plays that get done this month are four stars. I consider green lighting one of them, but decide I can hold out until I get one of them up to five stars.

I get the writers started on a Sci-Fi script entitled “X-Com”.

Hanks: What can you tell us about the murder?

(Camera cuts to Hanks and Pitt standing outside a trailer. Silverstone walks out. Camera cuts to Hanks and Pitt talkign to Silverstone.)

Silverstone: (crying) I went to his trailer to go over our lines, and I found him dead!

(Camera cuts to Hanks looking over files.)

When nothing seems to fit...

(Camera shows Hanks looking at an arrest warrent for someone with Silverstone's picture on it. Camera cuts to Pitt driving in a car.)

Pitt: What do you mean she left town! She's in the middle of shooting a movie!

(Camera cuts to Pitt and Hanks pulling up to a house.)

...sometimes the most likely suspect is right under your nose.

(Camera cuts to Pitt and Hanks standing on either side of the house's door. Camera cuts to Pitt.)

Brad Pitt

Pitt: Ready?

(Camera cuts to Hanks.)

Tom Hanks

(Hanks nods his head. Camera pulls back to show both men. They kick down the door to reveal a room full of pictures of Brendan O'Neill.)

Ooh! Ooh! I call "fodder #5" for my part.

When in "Night of the FOFC 3" coming out? I want my driver to be another brain eating zombie- he seems to play the part well.

Is anyone else concerned that the name of the movie is "Rouge Spear"?

Is it about an assault on Loreal? Is Andie McDowell in it?

Lokugh

PS: "Rogue Spear". I really like this dynasty...the misspelling just struck me as funny

Don't let this be the end, I wanted to see a good Rainbow Six movie, and see if Qwikshot's career devolves into porn.

Now, it's perfectly clear how Qwikshot Dangers pays Qwikshot Dangers's baseball fines for referring to Qwikshot Dangers as Qwikshot Dangers.
