Team Management :
- Rodney Libby, a fullback, has left your team because of a lack of playing time.
- Terry Richard, an offensive tackle, has left your team because of last season's suspension.

Hall of Fame inductions :
- 5 players are inducted in the Hall of Fame

Coach Movement :
- 3 teams hire coaches from other Universities (Texas A&M, Marshall, Temple)

Key Indicators:
Academic Reputation: 58 (37th)
Prestige: 70 (19th)

Staff hiring

Emails :
The 3 schools that got their coaches hired away, hire new ones.

Previous Seasons staff moves :
2038 : SW, Def Coord
2037 : none
2036 : Defensive Coord
2035 : MA, NE, SW, NW

Meaning I can change : Syndicate Coord, Offensive Coord, MW, DS, SE, GL.

Finally, Mickey Francis is our new Mid West scout (slightly better overall than our previous guy).

The best prospect is WR Jones (sloted at #5 right now). Walk-on TE Fruth will be a decent backup in the future.

Roster

* denotes starter
R denotes redshirt
-- denotes suspended for year (none this season)

Code:

* Vallery, Kurt           13   QB   Sr*   89 (+16)          100
  Clayton, Larry 12 QB Jr* 33 (+2) 82
  Marzullo, B.J. 3 QB So* 27 (+5) 100
R Barnes, Morris 10 QB Fr 18 64
  Farrell, Sean 9 QB* Sr 31 (+11) 61
Vallery is still on board (hopefully for 2 years if he doesn’t declare early), ready to compete for the Heisman trophy. Clayton & Marzullo are still raw be are more than capable backups.

Code:

* Wittich, Erik           21   RB   Sr    88 (+5)           88
  Niklos, Archie 41 RB Sr 56 (0) 56
  England, Eugene 36 RB Sr* 49 (+2) 81
  Stone, Luther 23 RB So* 25 (+4) 60

* Kaplan, Ethan           48   FB   Jr    73 (+19)          100
  Sampson, Ken 30 FB Sr 39 (+4) 100
  Barker, Jerry 35 FB So* 28 (+10) 86
  Mueller, Quentin 34 FB* Fr 15 35
RB Wittich is back for his Senior season. He already has a lot of IU records and plan on improving them again this season.

Code:

* Jeffries, Nick          89   TE   Sr    94 (+13)          94
  Bell, Terrance 95 TE Sr* 63 (+3) 63
  Gillespie, Lee 88 TE So* 34 (+15) 51
R Fruth, Wesley 83 TE* Fr 36 83
  Bergen, Nathan 85 TE* Sr* 23 (+2) 25
Jeffries is the indisputable starter. Bell and Gillespie provide comfortable depth. Walk-on TE Fruth is redshirted (and looks like our best recruit).

Code:

* Bertram, Herb           8    WR   Jr*   77 (+29)          90
  Shannon, Carl 82 WR Sr 39 (+6) 70
  Rhodes, Bert 2 WR So* 33 (+21) 58
* Jones, Joel             86   WR   Fr    28                96
R Donohoe, Aaron 84 WR So 24 (+1) 54
  Husted, Michael 87 WR Jr* 22 (+5) 32
  Baker, Quentin 4 WR* Sr* 44 (+2) 58
Freshman Jones has too much potential to let him sit on the bench all year. Plus we need another starting WR. Big Play, avoid fumble and 3rd down catching are already maxed out.

All freshmen redshirt. Our 4 centers could even be starters…

We might give a shot at the 4-3 defense as we have 4 strong starters. Of course we will switch back to our usual 3-4 once injuries start to strike our DL (as usual).

Even if I only ever coach that one season (2035), I'll always have Kurt Vallery to hang my hat on.

I predict a Heisman, and a very legit shot at the national title if the receivers stay healthy (yeah, right!).

We are ranked #18. That tells you we can achieve it with hard work. It was a long time ago when we were stuck in the 60-70s rank.

cthomer : I feel we are very thin at WR this year and hope to keep our WRs healthy (fingers crossed)

List : QB, RBx2, FB, TE, WRx2, C, G, T, K, DEx2, DT, CB, S

Time Management
More study for stupid boys. Less study for bright guys. And Fido’s TCY Helper is a real time saviour !

Week 1

Our Game : #19 Indiana (0-0) (-15) vs #49 Tennessee (0-0) on TV2
Finally that scheduling was not that bad (at least in terms of potential recruit attention)

Vallery, Wittich and Bertram are already lpaying to their level as we take the first drive into Tennessee endzone for a TD. 7-0. We immediately force the punt, and on our next drive Freshman WR Jones does not disappoint as he makes a big play (47 yards receiving). RB Witich finishes it in : 14-0. WR Jones is really a big play receiver !! Unfortunatey, Vallery suffers his first INT of the season a bit later when trying to find Wittich in the end-zone. At the beginning of Q2, I am very worried about the future of Freshman WR Jones as he seems to suffer a major/serious injury. Cash still manages to kick a FG : 17-0. Vallery to Bertram a few plays later : 24-0. We are on cruise control mode now (and Q2 is not finished yet). We lose a ball near our end zone and allow a TD. We score twice again and halftime comes with a 34-7 lead.

Quick sim the second half and we win 54-7.

TCY is overly tough on WR's, you need to be like 5 deep to make it through a season. It sucks!

Week 4

Our Game : NC State (1-1) at #15 Indiana (1-0) (-6) on TV3
Our classic out of division rival is coming home this week and TV3 is welcoming this matchup with their cameras !

We both punt on our first possession and later, NC State goes for it on a 4th and long and of course is stopped ! Ball back to Indiana. We are forced to punt again. The weather is very bad and the field is very slippery. RB Wittich struggles early in the game. 2 minutes later they enter our end zone for a TD : 0-7. Next kickoff, RB Wiitich returns the ball 85 yards ! Woaw ! We are on their 5 yard line. RB Wittich runs a trap for 5 yards and a score : 7-7. We then both punt before Q1 ends. Then on our first Q2 possession, Vallery takes control of the air and finishes with a QB scramble : 14-7. The next action sees our defense step up and OLB Wasserman grabs the ball with an interception. 3 RB Wittich runs later : 21-7. Right before halftime we manage to hold them to a FG despite their 4 goal line attempts : 21-10.

Q3 Starts with another punts exchange and then when we ge the ball again, our star offensive trio (QB Vallerry, RB Wittich and WR Bertram) shows the public perfect football that is concluded by RB Wittich : 28-10. Q3 was running easily when RB Wittich fumbled the ball on a hard tackle and loses the ball to NC State defense. Our defense once again holds them to a FG : 28-13. Later in Q4 we were having anothergreat drive when RB Wittich fumbled the ball (commentator said it was mainly due to the poor weather in Bloomington = showers today !). Later in the game, we score a FG by Cash and another defensive TD by backup CB Bergmann : 38-13 Game over.

Like last season, it is strange to see how often Wittich gets stuffed - I've never seen anything like it. Imagine what his numbers would be like if he weren't getting nailed in the backfield every third carry!

Ah, but Sanders wasn't stuffed even ONCE at Oklahoma State... you don't gain 2600+ yds otherwise...

Maybe he is training with Ron Dayne? ... Maybe not. Dayne just falls down... Anyway, great Dynasty!! I've been following it for some time now. This is the year!! Good work to all the Indiana Dynasty writers!!

Week 5

Time Management & Emails:
1 D-. 16 D. Students are stupid this season or what ?

Our Game : #17 Indiana (2-0) (-14) at Michigan State (1-2) on TV4
TV has been present for all our games so far this season. Let’s be nostalgic and remember the years where not even local TV5 was covering our games…

Though questionable, Bertram is our only star WR and is starting today. First drive is a ground control clinic, but we stall on their goal line and see PK Cash have his field goal attempt blocked. We make them move backawards and regain the ball within their territory. A few plays later, QB Vallery finds WR Bertram for the first TD of the day : 7-0. After we force a punt, QB Vallery is sacked and we lose his fumble. However, Michigan State is confident enough to go for it on a 4th and 9. No way today. Hugh. Next drive see Vallery miss-throw 2 balls. On the 3rd down, QB Vallery issacked : “INDI 13 Vallery was injured on the play. This appears to be a serious injury”. Warning. Backup QB Clayton is on the field. The play is now very hard as many players are mentioned “injured” on both sides. We still manage to convert a last second FG before halftime to lead : 10-0

Q3 begins more easily as our FB Kaplan shows the way for a RB Wittich big play. FB Kaplan is on the receving end off a QB Clayton TD pass : 17-0. After a punt, we struggle early on our next possession that ends in an awful way as QB Clayton is intercepted, and they return it for a TD : 17-7. RB Wittich is on fire today and helps us stay awake after he scored a long range TD : 24-7. And another one : 31-7. A few meaningless plays later, the final score is 37-14.

Injury Report
OK, now we’re toasted. Our top 2 starting WRs are out for nearly all the season, and now star Vallery is out 20 weeks with shoulder surgery. I guess, we’ll have to adjust our game plan to use RB Wittich a lot more and throw as many passes as possible to our RB,FB and TEs now.

- Purdue 39-28 Iowa
- Minnesota 31-24 Penn State
- Northwestern 28-3 Ohio State

Next Game
Wisconsin is coming home for the Match of the Season without our Top QB...

Week 6

Recruits
We lose 4 recruits. (and 2 of them are WRs).

Our Game : #6 Wisconsin (3-1) at #17 Indiana (3-0) (-5) on TV1
Well, yes we are favourites and National TV is here today in Bloomington, but we are surely going to look horrible with QB Vallery out for the season. We’ll have to rely on QB Clayton (who also likes to run a lot) and QB Marzullo. Both are very promising, but raw, prospects. And I decide to start Clayton anyway...

They run the power-I but also have a strong passing QB. Anyway, we force them to punt on their first drive, and that makes me feel a little better. We then both punt and on our next possession, I am pleasantly surprised to see RB Wittich break-out 43 yards. QB Clayton then finishes the job with a TD pass to RB Wittich : 7-0. Well, just after our kickoff, their RB Abram breaks out for a 77 yards TD run : 7-7. Our next drive sees our backup RB Niklos also breaking out for 40 yards. What’s up today ? RB Wittich then pounds the ball into the end-zone : 14-7. The next drive is finally scoreless as DE Horozowski sacks their QB on a 3rd down attempt. Well, that was the only good news as we are forced to a 3 and out and on the punt, Wisconsin special teamers blovk the punt and… recover in our end-zone for a TD : 14-14. Both teams manage nice actions but halftime comes with a tie.

We start with the returning kickoff that RB Wittich moves up to our 45. Both team punts then comes a play where we score 7 points and lead 21-14 but someone needs to explain me “College” Football rules? Here is the play :
INDI 1 Floyd punted 37 yards from the WISC48.
WISC 31 Vickers returned the ball -2 yards to the WISC09.
Tackled by INDI 76 Hancock.
Extra point by INDI 16 Cash was good.

Actually, after going to the box score, I saw that Hancock forced a fumble that was recovered by our backup WR Blades for a 9 yard TD…

Wisconsin, however isn’t moved at all by this specific issue and scores a nice TD pass : 21-21. Just a FYI, QB Clayton is injured late in the 3rd quarter… And then finally our special teamers show Wisconsin they can score too as backup CB Kitchens returns a punt 97 yards for a TD : 28-14. In the 4th quarter, when we get the ball, RB Wittich is fed with balls and we run the clock. QB Clayton is still playing and converts a critical 3rd down with 6:43 left to play giving us another series. Then both teams punt and we start again with the ball on the 50 ayrd line with 4:14 left. Horrible play calling as we call a pass on the first play, then QB Clayton is sacked and our punt only gains 20 yards… And 1 minute later the score is tied at 28-28. Overtime comes as we can move fast enough to try to kick a FG.

They score first, but RB Wittich leads our team to another tie : 35-35. Then backup RB Niklos gives up the edge : 42-35. The nmanage to get a first down, but on their next plays, our defense manages to get to a critical 4th and 20…
Defense: 43 Alignment, 3-Deep Zone, Run - Normal.
WISC 17 Donovan pass fell incomplete, intended for 45 Hayward.
INDI 59 Wasserman defended the pass.
The ball goes over on downs. IU wins 42-35 in front of National TV. This win already nearly assures us of a playoff spot !

Our defense is still of championship caliber - and Wittich might just be the best RB the school ever had... super game!

Week 7

Recruits
We lose 4.

Our Game : Middle Tennessee State (1-2) at #16 Indiana (4-0) (-27)
We are 4 TDs favourites and of course TV is having a rest after last week heroic game broadcasted on National TV.

And the game begins with a RB Wittich run combined with a QB Clayton interception… After driving for 52 yards on the ground, we stop them 3 times on our goal line and force a FG : 0-3. It’s then a QB Clayton – TE Jeffries duet as they connect on several passes including the TD pass : 7-3. We then both punt to finish Q1. They drive another 50 yards and this time go for it :7-10. At this point, they have 116 rushing yards compared to 7 passing yards… I began to fear the worst as we can’t move the chains, fortunately for us, ILB Blees makes an INT deep into their field. We still are forced to go for a FG as Clayton is good but still makes mistakes (plus our top 2 targets being out doesn’t help either) : 10-10. Halftime.

We start by forcing them to punt, but CB Kitchens fumbles the ball which is recovered by Middle Tennessee State in our 30s. Then our defense steps ups again as we intercepts their QB (who isn’t used to throw a lot) and return it for 7 more points (S Dorrough) : 17-10. After forcing a punt, RB Wittich breaks for another long run (39 yards). And then, QB Clayton is injured on the following play, BJ Marzullo steps into the field… Marzullo is intercepted in the end-zone for a touchback. Well, it’s our QB3 playing… The last quarter is terrible to watch. Bad plays. Bad playcalling. PK Cash misiing a FG that could have eased our game. However we win 17-10, but I fear we hav a hard tribute to pay (several players seem injured).

One trick I learned was to make sure and schedule a lot of games in the first few weeks of the season. If you look at your schedule this year, you have all your off-weeks right at the beginning. Better to have those off-weeks in the middle and at the end to give your team a chance to recover from injuries. I realize that scheduling isn't entirely discretionary, but it's a factor to consider when you can.

Week 8

Recruits
We lose 2.

Our Game : #12 Indiana (5-0) (-26) at Penn State (1-4)
Heavy favourites. No TV again. We must win convincingly.

They start by punting, we reply with a nice long drive with Marzullo first ever TD pass : 7-0. A few plays later, Marzullo is at it again : 14-0. We then recover a forced fumble inside their 30s but are forced to punt… Then I could’nt watch the game of I forgot to Pause when my phone rang. And it’s 21-3 at haltime. And we win 31-9. Sorry for the lack of report here.

Wow - it's been a long time since they were a player.

That is a crazy list of injuries. I guess it's the Wittich show now, for better or worse.

Week 9

Time Management :
5 D-. 9 D.

Recruits
We lose 9… Still no one signed.

Our Game : #12 Indiana (6-0) (-13) vs #16 Northwestern (5-2) on TV3
Wisconsin 2 losses come with a 7 combined points margin. We are way overrated in today’s game.

RB Wittich and Niklos move the chains but QB Marzullo is still raw and throws an interception on his second pass today. They move all the field but stall in our 1 yard line and go for a FG : 0-3. We move nicely towards their red zone but are unable to complete a 3rd down attempt : 3-3 thanks to a Cash kick. And then comes our defense again. We force consecutive bad plays from their QB and the final touch is a DB Bergmann interception. However, the series are uneventful and we fail the 4th down attempt. After a few punts exchange, we win the territory battle and the following drive leads to a Marzullo TD pass to Wittich : 10-3. Just before halftime, DB Bergmann makes his second interception and with 1:30 left to play we could convert it into a few points, but actually we don’t.

Northwestern is not understanding what’s happening today as DB Bergmann makes his 3rd interception of the day, this time returning it 41 yards for a TD : 17-3. Woot ! Well, first action of the next drive saw their RB run 80 yards for a long range TD : 17-10. Bad ! The rest of Q3 is made of punts exchange and penalties on both sides. That’s ugly football. Q4 begins with much better football intentions and we manage to come close enough for a FG : 20-10. And once again, they score and 80 yard TD (this time on a pass) just after we score : 20-17. That’s too close… And then we see them mve the bal towards our end-zone. Then they enter our red zone, fortunately, OLB Jeans forces a fumble that is recovered by DB Dorrough inside our 10 yards. We run the clock and gain a lot of ground, but they quickly come back to us. And the bad news happen, we manage to slow them down but on 3rd and goal they convert and take the lead for the first time : 20-24. 1:08 left to play. On our first pass, BJ Marzullo is intercepted and the ball is returned for a TD : 20-31. We lose…And Marzullo is intercepted another time for a defensive TD : 20-38. This final score really doesn’t reflect today’s game. That’s a huge deceptive loss today.

Week 10

Recruits
We lose 8 again, and still no one signed.

Our Game : #21 Indiana (6-1) (-25) vs Ohio State (1-6)
The objective today is to remain injurie free ! We are forced to switch to our more traditional 3-4 defense as many defensive linemen are out today.

On our first drive, we run & pass for 7 minutes and the first TD (by Wittich) : 7-0. Our next possession sees RB Wittich break free for a long range TD : 14-0. Well, on our kickoff, their return the ball 99 yards for a TD : 14-7. We even fear they could tie the score as they play quite wel, but OLB Jeans forces a fumble that we recover. And after converting a 3rd and very long (over 20 yds), BJ Marzullo throws 2 consecutives passes to WR Rhodes for a TD : 21-7. Just before haltime, RB Wittich adds another TD : 28-7. We even manage to sneak in another time, as we return a last second punt just on their 5 yardss that is finished by RB Niklos : 35-7.

Quiksim second half as we win 49-7.

Will you put Clayton, Cabrera and Bertram back in the lineup next week? They could risk being injured again, but it could be worth it. But we might beat Illinois and Michigan anyway and keep them healthy for the playoffs. Decisions decisions.

I'm resting players. We should be OK.

Week 11

Recruits
We lose 8 again but sign 1.

- Ike Ogden, a quarterback from Andover High School in Andover, Massachusetts

QB Ogden is ranked #107 and #13 QB. Scouted as 85+, he is a bright student and will have time to develop at his natural position. 3250 passing yards, 17 TDs for 3 INTs. Stats to like.

Already in : QB
Still needed : RBx2, FB, TE, WRx2, C, G, T, K, DEx2, DT, CB, S

Our Game : #18 Indiana (7-1) (-8) at Illinois (5-3) on TV4
Illinois plays the single back formation so we’ll play the 3-4 again. And, with only 5 DLs healthy, we have little choice here anyway.

Our first drive is a very pleasant one as we manage to balance our plays and end with a RB Wittich TD : 7-0. This drive lasted 11 minutes ! Later in Q2, we miss a FG. Drives are long today, but nothing exciting happens until late in Q2 when they start completing first downs (actually that’s even their first one), all the way to a TD : 7-7. Just after ,we manage to make a very fast drive and use our timeouts just in time for a FG : 10-7 at halftime.

DB Bergmann starts the second half with an interesting interception for us as they were inside our 30 yards. A few plays after, Cash kicks a 45 yds FG : 13-7. Even though we anticipated their play, they still manage to move the chains through the air and score a TD to lead : 13-14. In the 4th quarter, we manage to drive nicely up to their 20 when RB Wittich fumbles the ball away. Things don’t look good today. Well, they kick a FG and now have a 4 points lead : 13-17. A late marzullo pass is intercepted and with 1:46 left to play, we have little hope to see the ball again. And we lose… Guess playing without QB1, QB2, WR1, WR2, DE1, DT1, DT2 doesn’t help a lot.
