Alright, double pass, onto Stage 2.

Any magic declarations for the take-off in the rain?

How about a little craziness with Clarisse and Moonbeam in the front (no magic)?

Then I vote for Vlad and Donner to be lead deer for Stage 2.

shhhhhhh sterlingice, you're supposed to let them declare magic first.

If Katon's order of no magic for the Evens sticks, I vote we go with no magic as well.

Stage 2 - Takeoff

Odds:
Once again, taking off proved to be an absolute catastrophe for the Odd team. Slipping in the rain, Vlad botched it and started a cascade effect, with Rudolph, Moonbeam, Jingle, Bells, and Cupid all jamming up in a comedy of errors. Donner, Buck, and even Clarisse salvaged what they could of the situation and dragged the pitching sleigh into the air. Once airborne, the power deer seemed to work against each other, while speed efforts by Vlad and Jingle Bells were wasted by the rest. This disaster scored a -42.

Evens:
As their rivals scrambled around in the slippery conditions, the Even team hurtled swiftly into the sky. Blitzen led the way with a strong take-off, aided by the solid efforts of Yuletide, Evergreen, and Sugarplum. Dancer, Egg Nog, and Northwind struggled. Most of the team – led by Blitzen - sacrificed power for speed (which hurt them overall), though Yuletide and Evergreen contributed good muscle. Teamwork was pretty lacking, but the Evens grabbed the 2nd Stage lead and narrowed the overall gap with a +29 score.

* * * * *
Stage 2 Score:
Evens: +29
Odds: -42

Overall Score:
Odds +51 and 1 Stage
Evens +48

Evens - any magic for the Flight phase?

Any other Evens want to join the festivities? We're losing our dynasty continuity...

I say we save our magic for the Landing phase, since landing scores count double in rain. No magic.

Now where are all those other Evens who helped draft?

Thanks, Katon - looks like your carrying the Even banner at this point.

We'll wait the two hours on Katon's post and then Odds, you're up.

Stage 2 - Flight

Odds:
Donner really led the team astray, not only with lousy navigation but also with crawling speed and weak power. Vlad did what he could but could not overcome his partner’s poor performance. Cupid, Jingle Bells, and Buck pulled more than their weight, but the others held them back with lackadaisical efforts. Teamwork was decent, but the score was –10.

Evens:
Navigation for the Even team was very good. Dancer concentrated on that and pulling for power, and completely disregarded speed. Blitzen gave a decent effort across the board. Egg Nog was a force, and Yuletide really pulled his weight. Sugarplum and Evergreen were total wastes. Dasher and Northwind spent too much effort on speed. Teamwork was poor. The score was +7, adding to the Stage lead and taking over the Overall Score.

* * * * *
Stage 2 Score:
Evens: +36
Odds: -52

Overall Score:
Odds +41 and 1 Stage
Evens +55

Not a lot. I'll be in tonight, and I'll try and catch up. Right now, I'm about lost as to what's going on. Last I saw, we were getting thrashed. Good to see the Evens have prevailed.

WSU did try and help, but again, out of the loop a bit overall.

I'm headed across the street for a few minutes, and I'll be back shortly.

dola, I don't see much point in using any magic for the landing. This stage is hopeless. Although, like Ardent, I don't really know what's going on.

I pretty much agree with you Masked, but Evens have to make their say first, so let's see what they choose.

Sorry about the dice. They are indeed EVIL.

Regarding magic, I don't know if either team is intending to dump deer after this stage, but if you are, it wouldn't hurt to burn their magic. At the very least it will aid your overall score(s).

If a deer has more than 1 magic left, can it use magic in multiple areas? For example, Donner has 3 magic, could he use magic on teamwork, landing, and maneuver for the landing phase or only in one area?

Yes, you may use a deer's magic in multiple areas if you wish.

I think that since the only deer we need to swap out after this round is Dancer, and since the stage is already over, we should sit tight. No magic.

ok, misunderstanding...i thought to make free agency more interestingthat if you did not take part in a stage, you got 1 magic and 1 endurance added to your stats...I see that you are just doing it back to their normal levels that they started in....This would make free agents more attractive(for instance the free agents having high endurance and magic to make up for other lack of qualities)...I just wanted to know what your system was, because if you stick with the current i doubt we will see too much turnover

Stage 2 - Landing

Odds:
As the team maneuvered for the rain landing, both Vlad and Donner struggled to get into position. Rudolph also had problems, but the rest of the deer adjusted the sleigh, led by Buck and Moonbeam, and balanced things out. The team then nailed a pretty solid landing, with the lead deer contributing well; Moonbeam and Cupid fared poorly, but even Clarisse and Buck countered with good efforts. The score was +11, for a Stage 2 score of -41 and an Overall Score of +52.

Evens:
While Dancer attempted to maneuver the sleigh into a good landing pattern, Blitzen acted more like a moose than a flying reindeer, and cavorted around like a wind-blown snowflake. This shook things up, but the team rallied nicely, especially Egg Nog. Even the less-maneuverable deer helped out. As they neared the ground, Sugarplum and Dasher dominated, and the sleigh eased onto the wet earth with a nice team effort and a Stage 2 win. Score was +10, with and Overall Score of +65.

* * * * *

Overall Score:
Evens +65 and 1 Stage
Odds +52 and 1 Stage

* * * * *

Endurance and Magic ratings have been updated on the deer.

We now hold a brief mini-draft to replace any deer you wish to drop. Remember that each deer that you replace costs a (-5) overall score penalty. For your pick you may either drop a deer from your team and select a replacement, or pass. Odds get the first pick in this stage, and then teams trade off picks until both have passed on consecutive picks. You may still draft later after passing, as long as both teams have not passed on consecutive picks (at which point the draft ends).

Proposed draft picks will need to be seconded, but in order to keep things moving, the pick will be official once two hours have gone by regardless of seconding, and the other team may pick.

Weather for Stage 3 is Fog, and weather for Stage 4 is Overcast.

You may also switch lead deer. Once the draft is over, please proceed to this decision as well as any magic for take-off.

Odds are on the clock!

You said 'Evens ge tteh first pick in this stage', but you meant Odds, correct? (and corrected yourself with Odds are on the clock at the bottom) Just want to confirm this.

Yup.

It's been edited, and sorry about the confusion - I just cut-and-pasted it from the previous stage. Good catch, JAG.
