JAG,

Both actually. The description was for color, but the game is currently set up for the weather to be a factor in scoring. Weather effects were present when the scores used to determine probabilities for scoring were created - so in affect they are part of the game.

I'm currently trying to devise a way to separate weather and it's effects, and also allow players some additional points to distribute that would make them a better player under adverse conditions or improve an existing setting. Maybe for next season.

Group 7 - Back 9

Duncan Baxter - (-1)
Makes an aggressive run at birdie on 11, but misses and his putt roles 6 feet by. But the steady handed foreigner makes the comebacker for par. A good drive on 12 puts him in a position to attack the pin, but the iron shot isn't very good and he has to settle for a 2 putt par. A great putt on 13 gives him a birdie, and a great putt on 14 saves par. A perfectly positioned drive on 15 allows him to attack the pin, which he does successfully when the ball stops only 18 inches away. Number 16 is birdied as well when then 3rd shot 8 iron is tight. 35: 33 (-4)

Jeff Nights - (+3)
Very incosistent front 9 consisted of 3 bogeys, 2 birdies, 1 double and 2 pars. The back starts with a bogey then goes to birdie. After a par at 12 birdies follow at 13 and 14. Par on 15 then 2 more birds. The backside is very good to Jeff and gives him a shot at weekend play, but he'll need to play more consistently to be a factor.
39:32 - (-1)

Michael Weideman - (EVEN)
Birdies number 12 by reaching in two an two putting. Birdies 16 when he tries to reach in two, comes up just short, but gets up and down. Bogey's 17 when he misses the green and his bunker shot is poor. Then gets the stroke back on 18 by sinking a slippery 12 footer downhill. 36: 34 - (-2)

Its Craptacular - (-1)
Pars out till number 15. On 15 it's a good not great drive, a good not great approach and a great putt. Sinks a big breaking 14 footer. 16 is an easy birdie and another birdie is added on 18 when a putt is made from 22 feet. 35: 33 (-4)

Thanks for the answer Breeze.

Putting Butcher's gonna need a good second day to qualify...this cut looks like it could be quite tough to make.

Sorry, didn't even see this thread. Sterling Silvers will go normal.

Perhaps we should all have a "default" style in the event of something like this so that we don't have to wait every round for new styles.

Relax Shorty, it's possible I misread the card when I pulled out those with only 1 style. I'll look again. Noone is going to be left behind - I'll finish up the 3 that haven't gotten round 1 done before I start round 2.

Maybe everyone that has more than one playing style should give you a default style for situations like this.

Fad Braxton's been pounding away at the driving range, trying to find a cure for his erratic ball flight. Trying to make something happen, he's been playing aggressively. But he's started missing left, and missing right, and now he has no idea where the ball's going. He's starting to lose his composure.

Suddenly, who should arrive at the driving range but the Dolly Llama, Fad's personal swing coach. The Llama reminds him that the only thing within his control is making a pure, effortless swing. The ball, then, will go where it will.

Fad starts to ask a question, but the Llama disappears as quickly as he arrived. Fad then wonders how a cloned llama could have possibly spoken to him in English. A little confused, and a little timid, Fad decides to play the next round without any concern over his results, just to see what will happen.

He chooses to play Neutral.

Final Group - Front 9

Sterling Silvers - A player who really impressed with 4 solid rounds at Pebble started out shaky here. Silvers was lucky to just bogey one after an awful drive, and number 2 wasn't much better. The tee ball was way long and a long putt saved bogey. A long putt on 3 saves par. On number 4 Silver's got the driver working, as his shot found the middle of the fairway. He reached the par 5 in two and two putted for bird. Number 8 was a bit testy. Silvers approach found the bunker - and his out was rather pathetic. However, he calmly sunk a 32 footer for par. The confidence from 8 carried over to 9 where he hit a huge driver, stuck the approach and made the short birdie putt to finish the front 9 even par after that terrible bogey bogey start. Front 9 Score: 36 (EVEN)

Shane Kormelink - Shane was the exact opposite of Silvers. A quick start on the first two hole had Shane 2 under. A great 3rd shot into the green from inside 100 yards gave Kormelink another birdie and had him 3 under early. However, a ball in the trap at 5 gave a stroke back. Kormelink rallied on 6 with a great drive and second shot, excellent chip and a short birdie putt, but a ball in the H2O on 8 ended up giving two strokes back and he finished the front a disappointing 1 under. Front 9 Score: 35 - (-1)

Bradley Nowell - Birdies number 1, but finds the bunkers on 2 and needs a 26 foot putt to save par. A 7 foot putt is missed on 4 and Nowell has to settle for par. The putter doesn't betray him on 7 though as his iron off the tee is 11 feet and the putt is drained. Another makeable putt is missed on 8 and the frontside closes 1 under. Front 9 Score: 35 - (-1)

Final Group - Back 9

Sterling Silvers - (EVEN)
Silvers back 9 starts off much better than the front - with a very solid birdie. The next 5 holes are uneventful as Silvers makes great contact, but unfortunately doesn't really have any plays at birdie. On 16 Silvers couldn't have walked out and placed his drive in the fairway any better, and his second shot was equally as good. The 25 foot eagle putt was tracking the hole, but came up a couple of revolutions short - focing Silvers to settle for a birdie. 36:34 - (-2)

Shane Kormelink - (-1)
Pars the first 4 then throws one back on 14 when he 3 putts. Nothing else eventful on the back. 35:37 - (EVEN)

Bradley Nowell - (-1)
Bogey at 11, a good putt at 13 saves par, a missed putt at 15 throws one back. Number 16 is parred when the drive is good (not as good as Silvers' but good). Second shot stops in the frog hair on the front edge, Nowell elects to chip and the ball stops 4 inches from the hole. Tap in for birdie. Number 18 the approach shot misses the green right, but the Nowell gets a good lie and he makes a aggressive play at the pin. The ball tracks the hole all the way and falls for a birdie. 35:36 - (-1)

Bay Hill Invitational - First Round Summary - Gary McCord

"Wow what a first day. Mays goes out and plays darts with the pins on the front and then I'll be darned if he didn't almost match it on the back. The playing partners Fuijita and Bywater - Oh my God. It was like (singing) "Anything you can do - I can do better." This is going to be interesting. The 3 players are definately in the drivers seat, but last week Gunner, Herd and Almighty were up early, and Gunner fell back before reestablishing his game and the lead, and Herd was caught by Silvers. It's early yet and with all that water and bunkers - especially the bunkers - since it seems a ball in the bunker equals a bogey with these guys - anything can happen. Unlike lask week, where it was pretty easy to predict who would miss the cut - this week it only looks like Fad "Incoming!" Braxton is going to have his work cut out. I have seen him on the driving range working on his game. Actually I've been watching him closely. I want to make sure I know where he is at all times to keep from being hit by one of his tee balls.

It's much too crowded and too early to project where the cut will be - at least with any confidence, but personally, I wouldn't want to be sitting on 4 under at the end of the day tomorrow."

"Breeze! What are you rolling those dice for?"
"Why, it's very clear what they're for. They're used to, er, for, uh, as a decision-making method for determining margin width for my reports."

Quick Note

We do need to set default styles...I'll have players specify it before the beginning of the next tourney. I am still waiting on styles from:

Kappe III
Nowell (who never got me a style before round 1)

Now I may have missed something so don't shoot me if I have this wrong. Please get the styles in soon so I can finish up round 2.

I'll begin posting results for Friday's round today (hopefully).

Ok, we're ready to go for round 2.

The projected cut is 3 under par, but of course that can change based on play. We will describe the outcomes by dividing the players into 3 groups:

- Those who should make the cut
- Those probably not making the cut
- Those on the bubble

We will reassess which group each person is in at the turn:

Currently this is the breakdown:

Those who should make the cut
Mayes
Fuijita
Bywater
Smith
Almighty
Baxter
Craptacular
Tucker

Probably won't make the cut
Braxton
Kappe III
Kelmay
Nielsen

Bubble
Babson
Weideman
Silvers
Nights
Nowell
Gonzalez
Herd
Tokunaga
Gunner
Juckett
Boroniec
Wayne
Kormelink

Remember only 12 make the cut (plus ties) so alot of people will be battling for those spots
