Guide to Useless Services (Windows XP SP2)
I came across this when I was searching for a program to look at stuff in my registry. Very useful information for those of you on Windows XP with Service Pack 2. You will definitely notice a difference.

I only disabled a couple of things, but I did set a bunch of things to manual so they didn't autostartup.

Heh. There's nothing wrong with shutting off system restore, you just need to be aware of the consequences of that act. I'm a no system restore guy because I don't like the space the restore points eat up on my hd. Of course, that also meant when a botched software uninstall hosed my Windows last week, I had to wipe the slate clean and start all over again. |

Useful stuff Ant. Right on this topic, there is an application I use since I installed XP on my computer: xp-AntiSpy. Basically it's a little program that eliminates a lot of the annoying things of Windows XP (it disables all the error notifications, it disintalls MS Messenger if you don't want it...). I run it everytime I do a fresh XP install on my PC, and it works great. Never had a problem with it. Obviously, use it at your own risk.
