What Do You Want Next?
I'm debating what sort of game to run for the next game. I was thinking since we have a big batch of new players, we maybe should have a basic ruleset game - just the traditional roles and rules, nothing crazy. Then again, I like running slightly crazy games. What do people want? I'm especially interested in the opinions of the new guys.

Maybe we should start up couple GM lists. One for running the bigger ruleset games and one for basic. Then maybe we alternate the games so we have a good mix going. That way someone that wants to run a bigger ruleset game won't feel like they need to run a basic one just because the others before him didn't run a basic one.
Just an idea. |

What do you consider a basic game really? What roles are involved? IS there a list of roles somewhere we could compile?

Speaking for myself I would say a basic game would be pretty much just default roles. seer bodyguard duke cunning brutal Maybe even cultist, convert, fool or hunter if enough people are in the game and are mostly vanilla. The Godfather game definitely doesn't qualify as basic. The Race wouldn't either because of the two different games going on at once (though I think the werewolf part was pretty vanilla except for the 'dead' still talking).

Having a multivote person seems pretty basic too although a lot of people seem to key in on hunting for that person right off the bat.

Convert is someone who can become a wolf if they're targeted at night (generally). Cultist is a villager who wins with the wolves. Fool is someone who thinks they're the seer but gets random or wrong scans. Hunter can vary, usually a villager who counts as 2 at the end, sometimes has the brutal ability, or sometimes can do a kill once during the game.
There's some gray area but I think it's pretty clear usually what is a standard game and what's more complex. I don't mind running either one, so I wanted to get a feel for what people are looking for. I know sometimes people get burned out on crazy rule sets, sometimes people get bored by regular games. Zinto, Cougarfreak, Mckerney, Tyketime, I'm interested what you'd prefer. |

Ah, crazy Granny was the last type of hunter.
I really disliked the fool/fake seer. Really made a lot of analysis pointless. |

My favorite role was when I was the cultist in the draft game. Though there haven't been a lot of games like that. Basically, I was told who the wolves were, I win with the wolves but I counted as a villager. I could try to manipulate as much as possible and there was no drawback to it as even if I were lynched it helped since that counted against the village in terms of the ratio. |

I voted basic game after the last three were more complex, but I'd be happy with anything. |

I thought it was assumed if you are still alive on day 3, it means you are a wolf... or was that Hoops? I don't remember. |

I voted for a normal rule set just because I have never played that type but do which ever you enjoy more to run Autumn since I will be playing either way.

I hope that you have a fish-based game ready - it seems like the 'trout' option is in the running...
