MS announces that Dungeon Defenders and Civ Revolution are the free games for March. Honestly has to be the best offerings they've had for awhile on their program.

Except for Dead Island last month, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light in January...GWG hasn't had a quality issue. It's had a 'newness' issue. Even CivRev is a six-year-old game. The games have been generally quality. It's just that they've frequently also been older titles. |

The game is glorious. If you are a fan of South Park, this is a must-buy game. I'm only about a half-hour in, and I'm laughing my ass off. Don't want to give any spoilers, but so far the level of detail they have put in is awesome.

The idea of a Facebook-like interface to use as your in-game info tracker is brilliant.

So pleased overall that South Park game is well-reviewed. This is a game that could have been released sooner and would not have had nearly as much polish. In an era where we see that far too often, it's good to see a game held back until it's ready and be rewarded for that move, especially a single-player experience.

I saw the scores and they all looked for very high. But the only two reviews I've read - Kotaku and Rock Paper Shotgun - have described the game as quite bug riddled and a bit of a mess in terms of quality. They, however, seemed to largely enjoy the content. I will likely pick this one up down the road during some Steam sale.

Sure, but they had considered pushing this game out much sooner and it would have been a commercial flop had they done so. Also, people would have broken out the 'no one wants to play single-player games' excuse to explain it. No game is going to be perfect given the complexity of the games now. I'm waiting for a Steam sale and for some time as well. It's hard for me to justify $60 for a game these days. I've had too many $60 games get less than 10 hours of play from me. |

ditto, I got about a 15+ game backlog and I just got back into MMOs again. The only way I pay more than $25 for a game right now is if it has the word "Civilization" in the title.

I picked up The Stick of Truth today for the 360 and played for a couple of hours. Fun game but I'm thinking it may be shorter than your average turn-based RPG.

Watched some SoT gameplay from "Francis"/boogie2988 today. South Park really not my thing but I have to give credit where it's due, the tone seems to be amazingly on target.

Back to Assassin's Creed IV, I picked up the two relevant DLCs: Freedom Cry and Illustrious Pirates for the PC. The latter simply adds to your existing game but I felt that it really didn't add much at all: three new unique locations that had almost nothing - little in the way of opposition and exploring and chests that had nothing of value. Freedom Cry, on the other hand, is a new game that is fantastic. You play Adwale and opens up a large, new city - Port au Prince (as well as three smaller island plantations). They said that it offers 3 hours of new gameplay and so far, I am up to 20 hours and only half way through. The missions, centering around freeing slaves, are actually quite challenging. In town, after a bit, you can barely do anything without attracting a swarm of guards. And on the seas, you capture slave ships but you first have to sink three tough escorts for each slave ship. This DLC has all of the things I love to do: getting to chests (30 in the city alone), numerous plantations and tough naval battles. Highly recommend Freedom Cry.

From what I've played so far, that sounds way too short. No way I'm already 33% through the game.

Early Access for Drifter is up on Steam. $9.95. Game I'd been keeping an eye on since I saw it on Kickstarter. I backed Limit Theory instead, but for $9.95 I may very well pick this one up too.

Yeah - I really hope they just use the universe of the game, or else like...fill in some of the gaps in the story. I'd imagine that's the plan.

Qvadriga is a cool little game from Matrix I came across that simulates Chariot racing in ancient room. Races are quick, but have a lot of strategy to them and it definitely has that one more turn feel.

Seems interesting, but I decided a while back that I lose track of games that aren't linked to one of the major services. Matrix should sell their games on one of the major distribution services, I would actually try them if they did that.

Saw this Destiny ad last night while watching Cosmos. Interested to see how this game pans out. It was obviously it still needed some development time when they showed it last summer.

Double Fine is making Costume Quest 2, coming this Halloween season. I'll be playing it (along with maybe at third play through of the original), the first was pretty bland in terms of gameplay but the atmosphere of the game is charming and funny. |

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt won’t release until February 2015 | VG247
The Witcher 3 is being delayed until 2015, that makes two of my most anticipated games of the year that aren't coming out in 2014. Hard to be too disappointed though with the kickstarter RPGs coming out this year, Dark Souls 2 coming out next month. |

Wow. Xbox One online outage. As much as they talked up the power of the Cloud, this is an absolute worst case scenario for them. The day you release your system-selling, online-only game is the day your system goes down. It's only going to get worse with people now heading home with the game to log into the system.
This is why you at least toss in a token 4-6 hour campaign with the online games. It at least pacifies the natives if you do have an early outage. Edit: Frame rate issues and screen tearing being reported on the X1 version of the game. I watched this GIF file at first and assumed my internet speed had dropped as it was loading. Turns out the FPS rate is really dropping that bad. Edit 2: Respawn's Twitter feed is pretty humorous. Tons of 'contact EA support' and 'contact MS support' responses. I suppose that's the good part about using the cloud. It's no longer your problem. Last edited by Mizzou B-ball fan : 03-11-2014 at 05:40 PM. |

For the entire day up to a couple of hours ago there were no problems. These launches hardly ever go off without a hitch. Send millions of people to a single website or service at once, and it'll crash. Honesly, MBBF, I'm shocked that it's a problem at all. Probably only like 3 or 4 hundred XBox One users in the country and only 150 of them have the game anyway. With that few of people playing, it's really not a major problem anyway, right? If they get this fixed in the next couple of days and Titanfall is as good as everyone says it is, nobody will even be paying attention to this in a week. If they don't, it will be an unmitigated disaster. i'm betting on the former. |

You really think he is concerned that people are having issues with a game on a platform he is never going to buy? Of course he is going to paint doom and gloom for an EA product on a Microsoft platform. I'm just honestly surprised he doesn't have 5 more posts with 'informational updates'.
I see people on my friends list playing Titanfall, so it isn't a complete outage.

Good news, GoG realize they've done fucked up with regional pricing (IE, allowing publishers to set a price for the US, a different price for the EU, or Australia).. and are fixing it. How so? In cases where the publisher DEMANDS regional pricing, they will eat the price difference rather than pass it on (For example, game selling at $50 US, and the equivalent of US$70 in Australia, GoG will eat that $20)

You honestly could have copied those reviews from the release day of the last multi-player game that EA released. BF4 had glowing release day reviews. It's been nothing but an unmitigated disaster since. And that's far from the only multi-player game that has had that situation. FWIW, there is at least some good journalism going on this time around with Titanfall. Multiple sites have decided not to issue release day scores and have just released impressions with the intention of releasing a score 3-4 weeks later. That's a much better way to handle these type of games. Game day releases on a game that basically is in a final level of beta on release day are ridiculous. |
