The 3rd wild card was an excellent idea. We have races in both leagues. With mid-season, we have teams within 7 games of the 3rd spot in the NL (Chicago and LA tied, Brooklyn 7 GB) and in the AL, San Diego is a half game out of the league, Milwaukee sits 2 GB after leading last month and Lake Tahoe is even within striking distance at 6.5

Stupid me simmed to the all-star game selection. I thought it would give me a chance to pick the teams, but not so much. So that sucks, but now I know for next year.

Forgot to unretire Charlie Taylor, Quincy de Vaal and Habib Sajid. They're now in the free agent pool. Wonder what those oldsters have to offer up...I guess we'll see!
New file with them in it is up now. (I had to reupload...) HTML will process overnight. |

The game has the draft order wrong thanks to the expansion teams. I ran a new draft lottery for Shem Creek, Kauai and Columbus for the 3rd pick.
1. Lake Tahoe 2. Gettysburg 3. Shem Creek 4. Kauai 5. Columbus 6. Milwaukee 7. San Diego 8. Hilton Head 9. Los Angeles 10. Rio Grande 11. Brooklyn 12. Chicago 13. Syracuse 14. Memphis 15. Winnemucca 16. Carolina |

Hey boys, ekcut's question on franchise players being traded made me finally address the issue. I'd been thinking about it for years, but wasn't sure how to deal with it.
Effectively immediately, franchise players can be dealt. Here's the specifics of the ruling: Front Office Football Central - View Single Post - FRANCHISE PLAYER REGISTER Quote:

SLOP Draft Lottery...
We're going to do a draft lottery for the top pick for all of the non-playoff qualifers for next year. With the differences in leagues, doing it straight by record seems to be less than stellar. Plus, I feel like it'll make tanking somewhat less attractive. Not that it's truly a huge issue for us.

Draft Lottery odds
There are 10 lottery teams (non-qualifiers) and here are the odds.
Here's the site I'll use to do the draft lottery: DraftPickLottery.com - random draft order tool for fantasy sports leagues 38 + 18 + 10 + 8 + 7 + 6 + 5 + 4 + 3 + 1 There will be 1000 balls entered into the lottery pool. The worst team will get 380 balls, 2nd worst 180 and so forth. (100, 80, 70, 60, 50, 40, 30, 10) We'll run the draft lottery tonight after the sim. |

I honestly expected to get cockblocked on them. Like I actually felt bad after they signed, because I thought "shit, I wasn't supposed to get all three!" If we miss the playoffs, it won't matter. Should be interesting to see how the other two perform. I feel like Taylor ought to be okay. |

If two teams are tied in record for draft picks, we'll break the tie by the team with the worst finish (by place) in their league. If tied then, we'll go with worse league record, then worse inter-league record. If still tied, they'll play a game with the loser getting the higher slot. (Imagine the epicness of a playoff game you try to lose.)
I imagine this will never happen, which is why it's a possibility. If there's a wild card tie, we'll just play the games out obviously like real life. Last edited by Young Drachma : 08-30-2012 at 01:54 PM. |

As of September 1st, just a half game separates Chicago from a 3-way tie from two playoff spots in the NL. In the AL, Milwaukee just finished a 2-8 stretch which leaves them 3 games out of the 2nd wild card spot behind Syracuse, Memphis and Winnemucca.
Should be an interesting race to the finish! |

Ok, so last day of the regular season.
For LA it's simple, win and they're in. Chicago wins and they lose and it's a one-game playoff to determine who gets the 2nd NL spot. In the AL, a win for Milwaukee or Syracuse and a loss by the other would give them the auto-spot, both lose or both win and we get an AL wild card playoff game. Here goes. |

LA clinches NL wild card. Chicago 5, Kauai 4 Syracuse 9, Columbus 4 Milwaukee 8, Lake Tahoe 7 (MKE scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 9th to capture the win and force a one-game playoff for the AL wild card.) |
