FWIW, I enjoyed the first 2 seasons of The Crown immensely. It showed the early days of Elizabeth and hubby, and I learn a lot of history I did not already know (unlike current season which I've only watched a couple episodes and then dropped).

There is a story, not sure if it is true, about a visit he had to Australia. When he arrived, he was told he'd be asked the same questions as everyone else at customs. They asked him "Do you have a criminal history?" He replied "I had no idea that was still a requirement"

It's probably well known by people who know about the royal family, but I've learned this week that Phillip and Elizabeth's great-grandparents were both children of Albert and Victoria.

I know that's very common in most of human history and especially in royalty, but, that feels close enough that you could have things and aspects of your appearance in common that really remind you of your close relation. Might kill the mood.

I guess that makes sense with all the kids she had. It just feels kind of recent. She only died 20 years before Prince Phillip was born.
