Yep, weird issue. I just go all out DMZ for my PS3 when I play online.

I found that after getting my firewall settings sorted out that I had to make sure I was out of NCAA altogether. Then went to the invite and clicked join or accept and then everything would fire up.

A couple things I learned - kicking online vs. kicking against the CPU is an entirely different beast.

When you intercepted - you punted it right back - was that because it was a user catch interception?

On the last drive of the 4th quarter I may have inadvertently taken over one of the DBs - I sometimes try to take over a linemen if he's close to a sack and I'm sometimes too late and to my horror I'm controlling the CB or safety who's trying to defend the pass (to my horror because I can't stay close to the defender).

My QB today was by far more accurate than he has ever been - I have no reason to explain it.

Was a great game - I just had no answer to your offense. Because of this, I thought about going for it on 4th in OT but decided to get conservative. I shouldn't have - my online kicking stinks.

Edit: is it customary to exit the game before they show the final score and stuff? I couldn't figure out if that's what everyone does or if you were miffed about something.

Great game by CraigSca...I had a 28-14 lead going into the 4th Quarter and he erased that (ugh - bad defense by me, and Danny O'Brien (my starting QB) being knocked out of the game earlier) and took it to OT. Managed to stop him on his OT possession and he hooked his FG...I then converted on my OT possession to win it there.

Definitely he gave me more trouble with his offense then I was expecting (especially given that I play BC in my offline dynasty and it's my alma mater), although I knew his defense was going to kick my ass at times.

Managed to pull out the win though, so I'm psyched about that.

Just want to state - I accidentally had a blatant user-catch INT on his final drive of the game (tipped ball), and so I turned around and punted it right back to him on first down. He then went on to drive down the field 80yds and tie the game, so I feel that all ended up okay.

Great game. Went straight into #3 on my Instant Classics.

Ah, I thought that's why you were punting. Initially I was "huh?" - then I thought you were showing me up and then I figured "wait, a second - that was a user catch wasn't it?". Class move, DT - I look forward to next year's game in College Park!

Indeed - kicking online cost us each an XP in this game.

Yes - when I intercepted and punted it back it was because it was a user-catch INT (accidentally, you remember the ball got tipped up and all).

No worries about taking over a DB...it can happen ya know? I worried also that I might have taken over my "O" receiver on a couple of the passes I completed to him - still not convinced I didn't once.

Shinskie blows - great for him being so accurate though!!

I thought you were going for it on 4th in OT, which is why I called the timeout, to put in a real defense. Lo and behold you kicked it...worked out well for me I guess. That's partly why after I got it inside the 10 I kept running it instead of just kicking the FG...I could just imagine myself missing that from there (again).

There were a couple times I paused the game cuz I was going to challenge, only to find out that I guess you can't? The first on my first fumble on the second series (which you turned right into a TD), and the second on the TD catch where my TE was ruled out-of-bounds (where i ended up getting a TD soon after anyways).

No no no - not miffed at all!!! Just wanted to get into the highlights and create my highlights - didn't even realize that my exiting would exit it for you!

But I tried to make it a point to stay away from Herzlich and Kuechley (although that meant I was running at Kevin Pierre-Louis, who's going to end up being great anyways).

YES! I thought that catch WAS a TD. I was shocked to see you lining up in something other than an XP kick on the next play, so my defense was COMPLETELY the wrong call. I thought to myself - I should call a time out to get myself situated. Obviously I neglected to and it cost me. That'll teach me! But yeah, I thought that first pass was a TD, too!

I do need to clarify on the db user catch...is this not legal? Can we not turn into the defender and intercept the ball? I thought it was just on offense to not give the upper hand to the offense as it makes offenses unstoppable.

Kicking game is tough in online play. The best advice i can give you is multi tap the R3 stick really quickly to try to make the kicks. I will tap up at least two times.

It is not like that in every game. The lag is worse in some games more then others.

And last of all grats on a good game and i am sure a nice OT win.

I've read (read, anyway) that it can be taken advantage of in both directions. I assumed we were letting the DBs and WRs catch it for themselves.

We have a Wednesday advance, and a H2H game this week. Bummer on the tough loss Craig, and even bigger bummer on the loss in OT Bighouse.

WIth the snow taking out our home internet i did not have a chance to post about it.....O man.

Up 10 to zip and let them fight back into the game going up 17 to 10. We drive 82 yards down the field on a sweet passing display by my backup qb. He throws a frozen rope(you can see the reply) to our wide otu in the endzone to tie it up.

Overtime comes in and we go 3 and out....then miss the frigging field goal.....

They get the ball throw a pass on 3rd down(mind you they could have ran the ball and booted the field goal to win) and we force the fumble to move into the 2nd OT.

They get the ball in the 2nd ot and go three plays and boot a field goal.

Our offense has no problems moving the ball. We are at the 4 yard line on 2nd down and losing 20 to 17. We hand it off to Payne(our running back why played well today until...) He fumbles at the half yard line and was barely touched.

I was celebrating as he was almost in the endzone. The game ended and that was that.....It was such a bang bang play it barely hit me. I was so mad but it was one of the best games in NCAA i think i have ever played.

That severly hurts our bowl eligibilty there

On another note 3 guys jumped on the UVA bandwagon and i have 4 other soft commits. I just need to make sure these guys stay with me. If i can seriously pull in 15 3 stars this year i would feel 6 wins and 15 at least 3 stars are somewhat of a win...

Sorry, bighouserulez, I never used it on defense (or offense) because I know for a fact it won't be an advantage for me because I'd be more likely to have the DB dive out of bounds instead of going for the pick/deflection.

Correct, no user catch on either side of the ball. I actually a fan of user catch myself, as I'm pretty damned good controlling either a DB or a WR, but since some people are terrible at it, we've eliminated the use of it altogether. It's really quite easy to not use it. Once the ball is in the air, just don't touch anything...that's all. There's only one button that will take control of the intended receiver/nearest DB, and that's the "O" button. When I play solo (against the CPU) I take advantage of User Catch on damned near every play, but when I play against another person, I just take my fingers off of the controller entirely until the pass is either completed/intercepted/incomplete.

I didn't even have a chance as it made me go direcetly to end of the game. I did not know it was a fumble until after the screen changed angles. I was sooo pissed.

You and I are playing each other next week, and we will be advancing in about 48 hours. I will be leaving town Saturday (18th) morning, and will be gone thru Sunday (26th) for the holidays. Unfortunately for me, that means I'm going to be absent for my game against CraigSca (BC @ Duke), but I should be around all day Thursday and Friday.

What does your schedule look like on Thursday (16th) and Friday (17th)? Keep in mind that those will be my only days to play our game, so hopefully we'll be able to work something out.
