Now to see if I have a starting lineup, let alone enough players to fill a team...

Okay, looks like something didn't flip on the textsports.net site. The file is there through the calendar link, it's just not "current" and uploads are not active yet.

Ignore my rantings, apparently textsports.net has not advanced to 2029, so I was looking at the 2028 calendar and files.

Can you also poke the textsports.net guys to tell the site it's 2029 instead of 2028?

So even in multiplayer, guys will turn down offers they just plain don't like? I was under the impression that if a guy had a contract offer, he'd take it at this stage.

There are certain lowballs they won't even look at (they seem to get rejected on import). Since we have to give three-year contracts, my guess is a bonus way too low for him to even look at for a 3-year deal.

Ya, MinSal will still get rejected by guys looking for serious contracts, but it doesn't take much more than MinSal, $100k or so per year will usually get considered IIRC.

My offers were well over minsal, 200K+ bonuses per year. Interesting.

Well, that's off the top of my head. Let me double check.

Even more interesting. The DE that turned me down rejected 2 mil in bonus with vet mins of 1.11 mil over 3 years. The S turned down 1 mil bonus with 1.11 mil per season over 3 years.

Tasan, I did some testing on this in this very forum maybe 5-6 seasons ago when I managed to get a solid QB to sign for the veteran minimum. I'll try to find it later if someone hasn't already referenced it, but the bottom line is that the threshold is quite a bit above minsal, but it's pretty low.

We also have more undrafted players on our roster than drafted for the first time.

Thanks Ben. The only thing I was remembering was the testing done to see what it takes for one contract with a high bonus to beat out a high base. If you can find that, I'd love to take a look at it. I usually try to make sure I read your testing threads.

Yes, that was it. It was in that same thread. The intent of the thread was the high bonus vs. high base stuff, but the side comments noted were that:

1. lowballs get rejected at the point of import
2. the threshold for what defines a lowball is very low

You can sign any player at this point for any length of time. The 3 year minimum only applies during free agency.

Thanks.

Greg, I re-read that thread several times and it still didn't make much sense to me...for whatever reason. I suppose not knowing the proper "names" for each period of the offseason is to blame.

Might want to wait on Ben's word on this one actually. I was thinking post training camp.

I *think* players wont sign anything longer than a one year deal post TC, but they will pre TC....so then the 3 year minimum would/should still apply.

There were signings of less than 3 years last year during training camp, so I assume that it is fine:

Free Agency is over now. One-year deals are fine.

LOL...and I was one of those who had a few "less than 3-year" deals last season.

Nothing to see here...carry on.

For better clarity, I changed the wording to:

Quote:
All contracts to UFAs during FA2:1-5 must be for three years or longer. Any exports violating this will be removed.

Crap! Now to see if I have time to redo my export. On the other hand, I need guys, so maybe the required bonus money for a 3-year deal will put me over what anyone else is doing.
