I'd be interested.

Never done an NHL fantasy league.

I'm back in for this year, trying to win it all after losing in the championship. I thought everything was excellent last season (head to head) and would like to see that continued.

I'm in again

I vote for a live online draft or a thread draft. Automated drafts just aren't fun.

Agree on live draft, if we can find a date that fits for everyone.

Just throwing out my thoughts to start-

Head to Head

Scoring categories:
G, A, PPP, SHP, +/-, PIM, W, GAA, S%, SHO

There a handful of other stats, we could throw one in as a sort of changeup: faceoff %, hits, and blocks. If forced to choose one of them, I'd take hits.

I'd say minimum 8 teams, max 16.

Roster: 2C, 2RW, 2LW, 2F, 2 Util, 4D, 2G, 2 IR spots, 4 bench spots = 22 rounds. Maybe drop the 2F or 2 Util if people feels that is too many.

I think we can all agree that it would be best if I pass this year

If we're going to add an "extra" stat category, I'd vote for hits.

Right now set up as 2C, 2RW, 2LW, 1 F, 1 Util, 5 D, 2 G.

I added an extra D as I think it adds a little...D are a little harder to read than picking up an extra fwd.

Also, chose hits as the wildcard category, making that extra D maybe more valuable if you get the right guy.

SOrry, not this year. I am SO not a fan of the "you have to update the roster for every day of the week" its ridiculously annoying.

Now, have a league setup where you draft 2 players at every position and tally points all season long? that I might be into.

None of this "starters and sitters" crap. hockey is too damned busy for that.

I'm not a fan of daily updates either. If it's a head to head league I say make it weekly roster locks. I know we did daily rosters last year but I agree with RendeR that it requires a lot of extra work.

I'm cool with weekly roster locks as well. Gives a more strategic component, rather than just moving guys from the bench to the lineup each day.

I actually liked the thread draft we did here last year. Selfishly, I have a newborn at home and I doubt I can find a time to do a live draft. Either way, I'm already in as the Turner Burners

Updated to reflect weekly changes

I am cool with a thread draft (although I don't remember doing one last year), but we'd better get a move on filling the spots and starting. I think there is a game or 2 on 10/6, I know for certain there are games 10/7.

Here's the link from last year

2009 FOFC Fantasy Hockey Draft Thread - Front Office Football Central

Yeah, we'd have to start very soon, as it took roughly 13 days last year to complete, but that was with 20 players and 12 teams.

If we want to do this and get through it faster, we could make the teams a bit smaller. Would anyone be for getting rid of the "extra" positions (i.e. utility, and maybe the extra F and 5th D positions)?

Don't even remember thread drafting...but we can do that again. Important part is filling the teams, at least 10, prefereably 12 and then we can start

We need more teams. SR, I'd recommend adding a call for more teams to the thread title and also add in the fact that we're now a weekly league.

I will update title.

Should we hold out for 10-12 teams, or start drafting once we hit 8?

We can make a determination on roster size once we get the number of teams.

I'm up for thread draft if everyone else agrees. I'll change draft to offline.

I vote for a thread draft with rules for how much time you have to move things along. See the FOFC Hardcore Baseball League draft thread to see how we made that one work.

I removed live draft from Friday

Thread draft in effect, starting as soon as we have enough teams.

At 5 now, HB, CR and claphamsa make 8 if they are all in.

Lathum expressed interest, making 9. If we can hit 10, I say we start.

Cool

Just use Yahoo as a point of reference, still can view/rank players within there.

Lathum we will thread draft. Time limit to be determined. With 12 teams I will probably reduce rosters slightly for time considerations.

First game is noon on the 7th ( which is goofy as hell). If everyone is ready we can try starting today.

Rosters update

2 centers, 4 winters, 4 defense, 1 utility, 2 goalies

3 bench spots with 2 IR spots

16 rounds

I figure switching to wingers and not RW or LW might speed us up a little.

Draft order-

1 Chief Rum
2 bhlloy
3 boberot
4 SR
5 Danny
6 Samifan
7 bbor
8 Turner
9 Lathum
10 King
11 HB
12 Henry

Yes my team is "The Whale" and the name has nothing to do with the ridiculous Hartford Wolf Pack name change.

Chief, if you have access at work and would be willing to update the first post semi regularly, that would be cool

I can only access from my phone and keeping up on here is rough.

If not that'd OK, ill update at home when possible

Do you mean in a new thread? Like I would start up a draft thread? I can do that, although I might not be able to update right away at times (just ebcause I can't lave the browser on at all times).

Obviously, I can only edit my own posts, but I can start a new thread so we have a thread with a first post with draft results if needed.
