Running FB Pro (old software) on a newer computer

I know there are some ways that (some) newer computer systems can "simulate" an older windows environment, for purposes of running older software. I'd really like to do this, and see if I can set up my recently-relocated CD of Football Pro '97 on my laptop, which operates on Windows 7 Home Premium.

Thus far, my searches have yielded this to be a major limitation of getting the "Home Premium" version of Windows (through Dell), that these emulators don't seem to be compatible.

Anyone out there tried something along these lines, or have any suggestions? I'd love to get me some of that yummy, yummy, yummy SP AC AG ST HA EN IN DI. Has been years and years.

I think a great way to do it would be to install virtual box, and then install Xp inside virtual box. But this requires you to have a copy of windows xp

Even though the OS is different it should be pretty similar

Off the beaten path, but how much would it cost to purchase an outdated computer to run FB Pro 95' on?

I'd have to think you can get a Win 95' computer for $50 or less from EBay or a refurbished shop or something.

I can't hep with the initial problem, but I can help with RKG's. I was able to get FBpro '95 to run flawlessly using DOSbox on a Win7 system. You can just copy/paste all of the contents of the CD into a C:/Sierra folder, and then run it from there. I would suggest having the CD in the drive when you play it though, otherwise (I'm pretty sure at least) it won't have any sound.
